Synopsis
Not afraid to speak his mind or make a scene, Nathaniel Kelly has made a name for himself as country music’s ultimate bad boy. Covered in tattoos, singing songs about drugs, drinking and heartache, Nate acts more like an out of control rock star than the grandson of one of the genres most influential and legendary stars. Every man wants to be him. Every woman wants just one night with the hard-rocking country rebel. Except me. I just want to know that the boy I used to love is happy and that I didn’t break his heart in vain. That’s why I buy every magazine that even mentions his name; at least, that’s the story I tell myself. When my friends gave me a birthday present any fan would die for, I was suddenly face-to-face with the man I never thought I’d see again. My body wasn’t supposed to react to him the way it did. And, Nate sure as hell wasn’t supposed to look at me the way he used to. Can someone you loved as a teenager really have a hold on your heart twelve years later? Is it ever too late to say you’re sorry and make up for past wrongs? I’m about to find out.

Excerpt
“I told the reporter that I had a girlfriend. And just so we’re all on the same page, that’s you. You’re my girlfriend.” “Oh, really? Aren’t you supposed to ask me or something? I mean, if we’re going to act twelve, we should go all out.” “Baby girl, I’m Nate Kelly. You should just be on your knees, thanking God right now that you get to call yourself my girlfriend.” “I’m concerned about your lack of self-esteem. You really need to learn how to love yourself despite all your flaws.” “Okay, smartass. I’ve gotta go. I’ll call you later.” “Bye, boyfriend.” I laughed as I hung up, turning to find Rebel and Boone staring at me. “Girlfriend?” the latter choked out around a laugh. Charlie “Boone” Boone, could play anything with keys and the way he played the piano made people stop and listen. But he was an ass that would cling to whatever weakness he could find. “Did I just hear you say the word girlfriend?”

Always Been Mine:

Josephine Walker doesn’t do drama. All her life she has taken the safe route and done what was expected; she married her college sweetheart, found a great job, had two beautiful children and settled in to her little piece of perfection to live out her life. She was happy with the mundane.

The only thing that seems out of place is her best friend Matt; he is as funny, crazy and impulsive as she is sarcastic, dependable and predictable. Matt’s life is loud and full of chaos. Jo knows his past is as dark as his tattoos, that his secrets are buried for a reason, but all she can see is that he’s always got her back.

When her marriage falls apart, Matt swoops in to help Jo pick up the pieces. At least, that’s what he planned to do. But, Jo has other plans. She’s done playing it safe, done caring what other people think. She wants wild and crazy; and as much as she tries to ignore it, she wants Matt. Together they have to answer the ultimate question; can a man and a woman, who are as close as they are, ever truly be just friends?
Jo adores Matt, she trusts him completely. But, will she risk everything, including their friendship, to take a chance on love with the bad boy that could destroy her heart?

Honey Whiskey:

Honey Whiskey is not a standalone book; it is the second book in the Bastards series. In order to fully understand the characters and storyline, without feeling confused, you must read the first book about Matty and Jo, Always Been Mine.

The Bastards live in a world that most don’t understand. We follow our own rules, only accountable to each other, the innocents we protect, and the people we couldn’t save. Each of us wears a mask, hiding behind a polite smile and a respectable job, covering the monsters inside. I made peace with who I was a long time ago. I have no regrets.

Except one.

I've been in love with Jo Walker for years, always standing on the sideline, playing the only position I could. When she looks at me, she sees her best friend; he's the man I want to be. I blew it once; I walked away, leaving her with more questions than answers, knowing it was best for both of us.

A few months without her made me realize that nothing mattered if I couldn’t have her. I need to get her back, and I’ll do anything she asks, including telling her my darkest truths.

I expect her to run away and never look back. That’s the smart thing to do, the safe thing to do. I’m no good for someone like her. This life will only syphon all the goodness away, leaving her bitter and cold. It seems like my choice should be easy.

But, I’m not letting her go without a fight.

Interview With Carina Adams:
1. Can you tell us a little about your books?
I write contemporary romance with a twist; I'd like to think my stories could really happen to anyone. My first two books, Always Been Mine and Honey Whiskey feature a motorcycle club called the Bastards of Boston. They're a group of vigilante bikers who protect those that cannot protect themselves.
Forever Red was a first in a series about country rock stars, or rebel country musicians.
All my books have a tie to New England, mostly Maine or Massachusetts, because that is where my heart belongs. And, lets face it; we're pretty interesting characters.

2. Do you have a favorite character to write about?
This is a tough one. I LOVE Nate Kelly and his brother Noah. But, I'd have to say the Bastards as a whole are my favorite. They are such an amazing group of men, the kind that will put their life on the line to save someone else, the kind that never back down from a cause they believe in, the kind you want in your corner. I couldn't narrow it to just one because they are all so unique and special in their own way.

3. Which book was your favorite to write?
Forever Red. It was easy and fun and didn't tear my apart emotionally. The Bastards books are hard for me. They deal with issues near and dear to my heart, but sometimes they are too difficult to write and I need a break. Nate was easy. He just appeared in my life one day and wouldn't stop telling me his story.

4. What inspires you to write?
I've always had stories to tell, but sometimes they get lost in the jumble that is my mind. Sometimes it's a complex issue that creates a story, other times its something silly and fun.
The Bastards were created one day when I was having lunch with my Hubs and our best friend, a tattooed biker who looks intimidating to those that don't know him. A co-worker saw us and later told me that she would cross the street if she saw him coming, because she was that afraid of my friend. To me, though, he's a giant teddy bear who always has my back.
So, we were at lunch, talking about about a local news story about a child who had had the unthinkable happen to her. My best friend vowed that something like that would never happen to my children because he would protect them, and me, at all costs. My husband agreed. I told them that every woman and child should have that kind of dedication. And, the Bastards were born.
Nate came to me at a Keith Urban concert. A quick conversation between my niece and I about country music stars and the women they love, and voila! Nate appeared.
Inspiration really hits me in the strangest moments.

5. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
I do! I have an old fashioned screen porch on my house. We live right on a brook, and I sit on my wicker love seat, listening to the sounds of nature, and type away. I'm there now actually.   But, the majority of my writing gets down in my mind on my work commute. It's putting pen to paper later, and trying to remember the story I wrote, that's difficult.

6. Do you listen to music while you write?
When I write in my mind, yes. And, if I'm struggling with a scene, definitely. Music can bring out emotions that I just can muster any other way. If I'm writing a heartbreaking scene, music helps me get into the head of my character.

7. What's one random fact about yourself that you can share?
Oooo. This ones hard. I'm an open book.  Um, I'm addicted to Lemon Oreos. It's baaaadddd.

8. Are you attending any author singing this year?
I've gone to a few this year already, but I have the Mystic Author Signing Event coming up in June. Then, Las Vegas in January. I hope to see you at least one of them!

9. What writing projects are you currently working on?
I'm actually working on three projects. Unfinished Business, which is a Bastards MC novel. Sparkles and Ruffles, which is just for fun. AND, Mike's book. Which is my main focus right now.
