Discarded and ignored by those around her for most of her life, Cassie is a lonely human woman struggling to find her place in the world and meaning in her life. Bound By The Summer Prince

The Summer Court is in an uproar. The king has just been executed for unpardonable crimes, and the queen is prostrate with grief over his loss. This leaves the Summer kingdom bereft of true leadership; a problem which is compounded by the fact that the laws of Fairie require balance to be maintained by having a male and a female ruler for both Season Courts at all times. Uaine, the Summer prince, is the only one who can put things right, but he is without a mate. Knowing that he must take a bride quickly, for the sake of his people, even though he is struggling with his own feelings of pain and anger over his father's treachery, he goes for a walk in a forest near the palace to try to clear his head and determine how best to choose a female to rule beside him. 

While walking Uaine discovers a human female running loose in Fairie, which is against the most basic tenets of Fae law. Furious at one more problem he must deal with, he takes her prisoner and locks her in the dungeon; only to discover later that she is his soul-mate. The magical bond between them means they are meant to be together forever, but humans can't feel the magic of Fairie. Will Uaine be able to win her heart and convince her that she can trust him to keep her safe from all the dangers of Fairie...including himself? 

Roni is a human con woman and petty thief. Having run afoul of the local crime syndicate in the city where she is staying, she finds herself running for her life. Trouble is no stranger to her, but when she falls through a hole in a wall and finds herself in a world with carnivorous trees and rocks that eat people she realizes she may have found more of it than she can deal with. Rescued/arrested by the prince of the Summer Court, it doesn't take long for her to formulate a plan to use him to get herself home. Unfortunately for her, she soon finds that her heart, which she had thought long ago turned to stone, has begun to feel the love she has been playing at. Will she be able to overcome a lifetime of caution and allow herself to follow her heart? Can a criminal love a cop?

Mistral Dawn is a thirty-something gal who has lived on both coasts of the US but somehow never in the middle. She currently resides in the Southeast US with her kitty cats (please spay or neuter! :-)) where she works as a hospital drudge and attends graduate school. Taken By The Huntsman is her first effort at writing fiction and if it is well received she has ideas for several more novels and short-stories in this series. 

 

Interview with Mistral Dawn:

1.  Can you tell us a little about your books?

My books are fantasy/paranormal romance/erotic romance set in the world of Fairie.  They are sexually explicit and also feature some violence in a non-sexual context.  There are BDSM themes throughout, so readers will have to decide if that is for them :-)

The first book, Taken By The Huntsman, is about Cadeyrn (the Erlking, Fairie's top cop) and Cassie (a lonely human woman searching for her niche in the world).  Cadeyrn in on Earth searching for a Sidhe who murdered a Pixie child when he comes across Cassie, who is on her way home, and a magical soul-mate bond forms.  He knows he has many enemies who would not hesitate to use her against him, so he kidnaps her and takes her to his fortress in Fairie to keep her safe.  He knows she will likely be angry with him, but is unprepared for how stubborn this lady can be! ;-)

My second book, Bound By The Summer Prince, is about Roni (a human con-woman and petty thief) and Uaine (the Elf prince of the Summer Court of Fairie).  Roni is on the run from some bad men who are after her because of a con gone bad when she accidentally stumbles into Fairie.  It doesn't take long for her to realize she's in trouble, as the forests of Fairie kill her pursuers one by one.  She's relieved when Uaine finds her, until he arrests her for trespassing in Fairie and puts her in his dungeon.  A little later, a magical soul-mate bond forms between them, and Uaine has to convince Roni that he's not as bad as her first impression of him would imply. :-)

2.  Do you have a favorite character to write about?

I love writing the heroines.  Learning who these ladies are is so much fun! :-)

3.  Do you have a favorite spot to write?

My living room with a glass of wine. :-)

4.  Do you have any “odd” writing habits?

I don't know if it qualifies as a habit, but invariably there is at least one kitty keeping me company while I write and trying to sit on my laptop. ;-)

5.  Do you listen to music while you write?

Usually, but not always. But no particular kind. I have a very eclectic collection. :-)

6.  What is your favorite activity to do when your not writing?  

I take in stray cats and kittens and try to find them their forever homes. :-)

7.  When did you know you wanted to write a book?

Honestly, I had never considered writing a book until the idea for Taken By The Huntsman came to me in a dream.  After that, the ideas just kept on coming! :-)

8.  Do you work with an outline, or just write?

The stories come to me pretty much fully formed, but I don't formally outline.

9.  What are writing projects are you currently working on?

I will be writing a short story set very soon after the events in Bound By The Summer Prince, and then I will write the third book in the series which will be about the Winter Court king and his human soul-mate. :-)
