Run Away Charlotte
by
H.M. Shander
Trusting and depending on others has never suited nineteen-year-old Charlotte Cooper, who believes she’s unworthy of a happily ever after. She’s fiercely loyal to one - her BFF Joe. Afterall, Joe’s the only one who knows everything about Charlotte and he’s sworn to protect her heart, and her deep dark secrets.
Until Andrew Wagner walks into her life.
Despite his attempts to court Charlotte, she pushes him away, believing he can’t handle her past shadows. After a horrible accident, she slowly learns to trust and depend on him. As she shares her darkest secrets, he falls in love with her. Several incidents thrust the young lovers together, and Charlotte falls hard, giving her whole being to Andrew. While trying to be everything he can for Charlotte, he struggles to find the balance between family, school, love and commitment.
However, their different definitions of love and what it means to love unconditionally come to a head after Andrew spends a summer abroad and Charlotte crosses a line. His reaction sends a devastated Charlotte into the arms of Jack, an older man who can successfully balance what Andrew failed to do. He puts Charlotte first, treating her like a princess while capitalizing on her vulnerability. He gives her everything her heart desires… except Andrew.
When it comes to matters of the heart and mind, which direction do you follow? Love or Logic?

Goodreads PageAbout H.M. Shander:
H.M. Shander has been writing since the misfit age of fourteen, as a way to tackle her active imagination. Growing up, and learning life lessons the hard way, have reinforced the importance of writing as a way to unwind, heal, and process life’s challenges. She knows and speaks four languages (two exceptionally well); English, French, some American Sign Language, and Sarcasm, some of which serve her well within her variety of real world jobs as Wife, Mother, Daughter, Teacher, and Librarian. Despite how busy her life can be, there is always time to watch the sun rise, try to catch a rainbow, wish on stars, and listen to the robins sing.
She loves Edmonton, a Big City with a Small Town feel. When not working, or writing, and the kids are in bed, you can find her curled up beside her husband with a good book and a cup of tea.
Interview With H.M. Shander:
1 Can you tell us a little about your books?
My debut novel - Run Away Charlotte - is about a guarded nineteen year old (Charlotte) who keeps an emotional distance from Andrew. Rather than face her feelings, she continues to push him away. He teaches her to trust and to open up to him, and when she does after a disastrous date, he starts to fall in love with her. Believing in him, she slowly starts her own fall, and gives her whole being to him. But Andrew has issues of his own and struggles to balance school work with home life and his relationship with Charlotte. A summer apart challenges everything they have built up together, and another man rushes in ready to give Charlotte everything she's ever dreamed of. Except true love. Forced to choose between love and logic, between what the heart wants and what the mind says is better. What do you choose? And whose heart do you break?
2 Using one sentence, describe Run Away Charlotte.
Love is in the stars - you just need to know where to look.
3 What inspires you to write?
My over active imagination. Once I start writing down these scenes that play over and over in my head, I'm able to get some sleep.
4 Do you have a favorite spot to write?
Either in bed, or at my "writing spot" at the kitchen table.
5 Do you have any “odd” writing habits? I wear something with a hood, and the hood is always on my head. Plus, I need to have a giant cup of tea or coffee with me.
6 Do you listen to music while you write? Yes, I love Songza, and will flip between the nature sounds or soundtracks, depending on my mood and the scene I'm writing.
7 What's the last book you read? Currently reading "Eyes Turned Skyward" by Rebecca Yarros.
8 What's one random fact about yourself that you can share? I have a lifelong love of Astronomy and Space Sciences, and once visited Space Camp in Alabama. ;)
9 What are writing projects are you currently working on? I have two on the go - a sequel to Run Away Charlotte (with Andrew & Charlotte and company) and another love story featuring Claire & James.
