Interview Questions with Natalie-Nicole Bates:

 

1.    Can you tell us a little about your books?

 

I write mostly contemporary, historical, and contemporary romance. My first published release was in 2011, which was a short story called Antique Charming.

2.   What book did you enjoy writing the most?

This is tough. I would have to say that right now, BE MY BUTTERFLY was my favorite to write.

 

3.   If you ever experience a case of writer’s block, how do you cure it? 

 

I never really experience writer’s block, but what I do experience unfortunately is procrastination. Just not being able to sit long enough to write meaningfully. I don’t force it, and the drive returns. I find putting myself on a bit of a schedule helps keep me focused.

  

4.   Do you have a favorite food or drink you must have nearby writing?

 

Coffee and either cookies or donuts!

5.    How do you come up with your characters' names?

 

I usually just let the names come to me. But if I’m looking for something specific – like a character trait or a nationality, I’ll use the baby name sites for inspiration.

 

6.    If you could be friends with one of your characters, which one      would you choose?

 

Thaddeus Anderton from the series THE ALBION: 1892, that I share with my very talented author and friend, Jennie L. Morris.

 

7.    If you had a superpower, what would it be?

 

Raise the dead.

8.   What writing projects are you currently working on?

 

I’m currently putting the finishing touches on a paranormal story called TIME OF THE LILACS for The Flower Shop Series. It will release April 25, 2022.

Interview with  Jakki Frances:

1.What inspires you to write?

 Well you just never know.  I actually have no idea where my ideas come from,  the readers and quite frankly
myself never know what's going to come next.  Sometimes a friend will request I write them into a book and the story comes from who they are or could be,  other times it's just a random idea that comes to mind and won't leave me alone until I put pen to paper.

2.  Can you tell us a little about your books?

I love love but I don't guarantee a HEA.  I write the right love for my story and my characters,  sometimes it's a
HEA, sometimes it's a happy for now.  My characters and stories could be anyone or anything.  Contemporary, fantasy, time travel,  I don't stick to a trope, I just write the love that I dream of.

3.  Can you tell us a little about your books?

So far I have 8 published with a new book releasing 1 March 2022.  I don't really have a favourite, each is special to me for a reason.  But if I had to pick - It's Safer (Bigelow Bay #1) and Wailing Wiccan (Mountain Magic #3) both filled me with too many feels.  But shhh, don't tell the others.

4.  Can you tell us a little about your books? 

Some are friends who's names I've 'borrowed', other names just come to me with the story.  I just know that that's who the character is.

5.  If you could be friends with one of your characters, which one would you choose? 

 Again, I can't pick just one character - they're all my friends already.  They are based on friends in some way
or another and are all part of me and my heart.  So they are all my friends.

6.   If you could be friends with one of your characters, which one would you choose?

Well that depends on what you like...  Contemporary - definitely It's Safer.  Fantasy - Fairy Tale.  They're both book 1 in their series, but each series are stand alone books, so you don't have to start with #1.

7.   If you had a superpower, what would it be?

I already have one... I make my dreams come true.  I write love that makes me feel like I'm experiencing it myself.  Plus I save lives for a living (I'm an ER nurse).  But when it comes to a magical superpower - persuasion.

8.  What writing projects are you currently working on?

So I've just finished Wailing Wiccan which releases 1 March.  I'm writing for 3 different anthologies currently - all 3 stories will end up being part of a series that I'll be releasing in the future.  Plus I'm in the drafting process of another 2 books in my Mountain Magic series, to release late 2022 and mid 2023.  Busy busy.  To keep up with what's coming and when, jump onto my website and sign up for my newsletter and be the first to know.

1. Can you tell us a little about your books? 
I write a little bit of everything but focus mainly on romance. I do, however, enjoy writing shorts and novellas over long novels, but that's also my preference when reading. 

2.What inspires you to write? 

I've always been interested in writing as a teenager. It started with lyrics while humming, and then turned into poetry. In 2010, I tried my hand at short stories, and I've enjoyed it ever since then. 

3. How many books have you written? 

I've written three full-length novels, and 14 short stories/novellas. I think my favorites are Her Will and Fortune & Despair. 

4. How do you come up with your characters' names?

 I don't know. I think about the setting, and where my characters are from. Once that's figured out, I then focus on what the last names would be before the first. For instance, Her Will is based in New Orleans / Louisiana area. I wanted a Cajun French last name, and then I paired it with a first name I thought sounded well together. 

5. If you could be friends with one of your characters, which one would you choose?

 I'd choose Jolene. She's open, carefree, and lives her life to the fullest. It's the total opposite of what I am. 

6. Do you have a release day tradition? 

I do not have a tradition. 

7. If your fairy godmother waved her wand and whisked you away to the location of your choice, which place would you choose? 

First off, I wanted to travel the world, but if there's only one place, I'd choose Norway. I'm a huge Viking fan. I would also love to see the northern lights. 

8. What writing projects are you currently working on? 

I'm formatting Unleashed, which are five erotic short stories bundled together. I'm currently working on another short story, but I haven't figured out the title yet. I'm also putting together some more poetry for the third book of Fortune & Despair. The second is in formatting and will be released around October. Today, I've also released a novel called a single WISH.

Interview With Jas T Ward:

1. Can you tell us a little about your books? 

Hmm, I always struggle with this question. My primary genre is paranormal/dark romance. They are twisty, have some strong horror elements but also a guaranteed HEA. I just don't make it easy for the reader or the character to get there. I began my Grid Series in the land of fanfiction. In fact, now there are multiple and very talented fanfic writers that bring the characters to life now. That will forever blow me away. 

The Grid Series is about a secret war taking place among man between Heaven and Hell. The Grid fighters come from all walks of life. Both supernatural and human. We have police, firemen and even government people all shadow resources on The Grid. It has angels, demons, hot cowboys with fangs & the hottest damn "zombies" you'd ever dream of meeting... so many delicious beings.  

I wanted to make a PNR series that was different than anything already out there. And being a fan of urban fantasy, create my world within our own. I think I pulled that off. :) 

2. What inspires you to write?

Everything. I would love to be able to nail it down. Then I could utilize at will to be inspired and creative when needed. It can be a song on the radio. A commercial on TV. Heck, I have some epic ideas in the shower. :) 

3. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite? 

Twelve along with a few anthologies for charity. And two of those are for a publisher, Hot Tree Publishing - my contemporary romances, which are written the Ward Way - twisted. Number thirteen is coming out March 4th - Chaos. It's book eight of nine in my Grid Series. My favorite? Oh gosh, they all are when I'm writing them. But if I had to choose one out of all of them? Most likely Candyman - the one that gave birth to The Grid Series. 

4. How do you come up with your characters' names? 

I like using relatable, common character names. William, Beth, Lily, etc. Since my PNR characters were all human once or now, it makes sense. I do like more "exotic" names for goddesses and gods, but more common than other PNR's. To decide which ones to use, I think of the type of character I'm writing. Strong male or female? Sweeter gentler. And then choose a name that says those attributes to me. And hopefully the reader. 

 

5. If you could be friends with one of your characters, which one would you chose?

Hands down, without a doubt - Reno Sundown. I have such a crush on my own character it's embarrassing! But you know that saying - write what you want to read? Well, I created a book boyfriend I'd want to have. I like to think we're already besties. Good lord, he's in my head babbling enough for us to be.  

6. Do you have a release day tradition?

HIDE! I kid. I usually try to not work the day job on release days and take myself out to dinner. Covid has changed so many traditions, hasn't it? That includes the release of Chaos on March 4th. It just happened to be the same day as getting my second vaccine shot. But I have an amazing team backing me up to cover. I do still plan on taking myself out to dinner... I have a four-hour drive one way to get the vaccine. So, this release day will be both challenging and I'm sure as chaotic as some of the adventure in the book is. 

7. If you had a superpower, what would it be?

I used to always say immortality. But now, as I am older, I don't want to live forever. I could only imagine how boring life would become. How much we'd take for advantage. Now, I'd like to be immune from illness or injury. I'm going to say that's due to being older and wondering which knee is going to sound like Rice Krispies today. The struggle is real.

8. What writing projects are you currently working on?

Now that Chaos is off to the formatter for release, I've diving into the final book in the series - Sundown: The End. Ten years of my life has been dedicated to these books. It's a bittersweet experience. But the series, in my opinion, always had a finite arching story to be told. The end suits the series--and the timing is perfect.  Along with that, I'm finishing my Soul Bound Trilogy which is a dark/gothic romance with a paranormal twist. Then launching some new series with angels and demons as well as box set of dark romance.

1. Can you tell us a little about your books?

Technically, I fancy myself a romance writer. Not so technically, I’m a bit of women’s fiction, a dash of suspense/thriller, a pinch of mainstream contemporary, a drop or two of military fiction, and a heaping dose of romance tossed in. I don’t believe in living inside a box and I’m all for coloring outside the lines.

2. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I’ve written somewhere in the neighborhood of thirty, however as of now, only five books are available. Two are boxed sets, so total novels currently available is eight. Right now, Parallax is my favorite. It’s the first new material to be published by me in a while and for me that was such an exciting thing.

3. If you could be friends with one of your characters, which one would you chose?

Raylyn from Reclaiming Raylyn. We’re kindred spirits in that we both spent well over twenty years married to the Marine Corps. We have a lot in common.

4. Do you have a release day tradition?

I try to only look at my sales and the review sites once that day. I don’t like to get obsessed with those things.

5. Do you have a favorite spot to write?

I have a wonderful office that I share with my husband. It’s filled with our desks and all our favorite books. I have these great eclectic curtains covering a huge picture window, and on the other side of the glass I have several bird feeders so I can birdwatch while I’m sitting at my desk.

6. For someone who hasn't read any of your books yet, which one would you suggest they read first?

That depends on their romance sub-genre of choice. The Delaneys of Delaware is a collection of small-town romance with a bit of comedy tossed in. The Flashpoint boxed set contains two contemporary novels which are the prequels to the S3 series, Parallax is the first in that series. Just One Tear is a second-chances military romance as is Reclaiming Raylyn. Just One Tear is probably my most successful novel, at least the reviews are fantastic and plentiful.

7. If you had a superpower, what would it be?

I’d like to be able to snap my fingers and my house would be clean. That might be closer to witchcraft than a superpower, though.

8. What writing projects are you currently working on?

Currently, Recoil, S3 book two, is with my editor and I’m almost finished writing book three, Residue. I have a notebook full of ideas, however, and a folder full of works in progress, so it’s quite common for me to just pull something up on any given day and work a bit on it.

 INTERVIEW WITH TOYA RICHARDSON!!!

 

1. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I’m married with one grown up son who works on cruise ships and I have a cat called Masai. I live near Ipswich in Suffolk, originally from Essex, in the UK. When not writing or reading I love watching Formula One racing and darts, live gigs, travelling, rock music, cinema, gardening, and spending time with my friends.  

2. Can you tell us a little about your books?

I write mainly paranormal and contemporary romances, although I’m giving rom com a go this Christmas with a novella set around a coach journey, Festive Love Coach. The idea came about when I saw a post of Facebook from a reader who’d been on a Christmas Coach Trip, with all the strange characters she met on that trip. It was hilarious and I could almost see the crazy people on her coach coming to life. I had great fun writing this and it should be out late November/early December. Next year, I’ll be releasing a sexy duet set on the island of Tenerife and book 5 of my Protectors series, Electric Temptation.  

I also have a series of 8 e-books only, which were with a publisher, who has now closed their doors. It’s a paranormal romance series set around Atlanteans living on modern day Earth, which I hope to rework and republish in a couple of years’ time.  

3. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

18 so far. It's really difficult to pick out just one. I guess it would have to be Wild Desire, The Protectors Series Book 1, simply because it was my first ever self-published book.

4. Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?

I don't have set times to write. I'm fortunate that I only work 2 days a week and have plenty of spare time for when the muse takes me. I usually get ideas in the middle of the night and always have my laptop and notepad by my bed just in case.

5. When you develop characters do you already know who they are before you begin writing or do you let them develop as you go? 

I used to religiously write a plan for where I thought the story would go. Unfortunately, my characters have minds of their own. As soon as I start writing they send me off down a totally different route. I no longer wrote a plan and allow my characters to drive the story.

6. How do you come up with your characters' names? 

Sometimes, the names just jump out of my head. I also get them when I see people wearing name badges in shops etc. and if I like the name, I make a note of it for future use.

7. If you could be friends with one of your characters, which one would you chose?

That is a tough one for sure. There are several, Mila from Wild Desire is a great and strong character, loyal and willing to fight for what she believes in. Faith from Destination Love because she follows her dream to become a well-supported author and who is brave enough to move to the other side of the world for her dream and eventually, to find love.

8. Do you have a release day tradition?

Lol, release day is always a nervous one for me. It's the day your book baby is out there for everyone to see. Usually, I am up just after midnight to start sharing and promoting my work. I try not to look at reviews until the book has been out a couple of weeks.

9. If your fairy godmother waved her wand and whisked you away to the location of your choice, which place would you choose?

Waiheke Island in New Zealand. It's where Destination Love and Destination Passion, are both set. As soon as I set foot on the island, I fell in love with the place and the stories flowed quickly.

10. What writing projects are you currently working on?

I have three waiting to be published, the Christmas Rom Com and the Tenerife Duet for next summer. I'm writing an angsty love story set around an allotment, which is between a former model with self-worth issues and a vet who lost his wife and child. It's a slow burn romance. I also need to begin working on book 6 of my Protectors series, which is going to be the final one. I think it'll be a lot longer than the other five because there are lots of romances and loose ends to tie up.
