Review for LEDGER by Kemmie Michaels

LEDGER

LEDGER

by Kemmie Michaels

*Intended for an adult audience*

Ledger sees the defeat in her eyes the moment she sits at the bar, devastated and beautiful. The emptiness in her gaze he understands to his core, and he's instantly compelled to help this brown-haired beauty fight the source of her pain. Determined and intense, he needs to use his strength to help her find her own. Cam Foster, in that instant, becomes the dove he wants to free from her cage. From the first night, he needs her.

Cruelly, the past refuses to let her go. The lingering manipulation holds her in that cage as the control she lived under continues to crush the woman she wants to become. Even though Ledger offers her heated passion and a safe haven, she can't find her way out.

Desire and danger fight to pull her life in two directions…but those forces may crumble as Ledger fights harder than any barrier he and his dove face.

Review By Guest Blogger Angela:
Ledger Emerson is a bartender at Second Chance where he first lays on Camille Foster when she arrives with her friend, Shelby.  Cam is running from a past relationship and Ledger is immediately drawn to the lost look on her face.  They both have an attraction to one another they can not deny, even though they try. As Shelby encourages Cam to get out and be herself, Cam finds herself hanging out at the bar whenever they go out.  Ledger and Cam strike up a friendly relationship with one another the more time they spend together. They truly feel comfortable with each other, and quickly dismiss any other feelings they may feel for each other.

As we all know, denial doesn't last forever. Both Ledger and Cam find themselves unable to stay away from each other, for many different reasons.  Ledger knows Cam is troubled and desperately wants to free her from herself.  Cam can't shake the feeling that, although she trusts Ledger, he is keeping secrets as well.

I can not say much beyond this point other than Ledger is one walking sex stick that i'd like to get a piece of!  He knows how to treat a woman... on many levels.  He's passionate. He's Loyal. He's determined. He's an Alpha male, and we love him for it!!  He sees Cam for herself, which she has not been used to for some time. I love them together!  When secrets threaten their new relationship, bonds are tested and pushed. Ledger and Cam only fight harder to try and make their love save them.

For a debut novel, I say that Michaels has given us a final book well done!  The story was solid, and did not have a lot of holes that one might expect from a first attempt.  And the sex scenes...yes there are sex scenes, so if you don't like that, don't read it....the sex scenes are... well..... you'll see! Let's just say that I need a shirt that says: "I LICKED LEDGER".

I'm not sure where Michaels is taking the next book in the series, but I am well in for the long haul!!!

And as for what could be so strong to tear Ledger and Cam apart.......  I'll never tell! ~ xo A

About the Author:
I love a good love story. I reread the first kiss a few times before I read on...even in my own books. That moment gets me every time no matter how often I revisit that beautiful connection. I dive into every story to the point where I have so many fictional boyfriends that I can't keep track of them all.
In the world of reality, I have a loving and tolerant husband who smiles and rolls his eyes every time I tell him about my latest fictional love affair. I have two autistic pre-teen boys who keep me on my toes. I have a psychotic Golden Retriever (I was told those don't exist...) and a cat that rules our house. I used to be the queen. Our regal feline has usurped my throne and demoted me to Prime Minister.
I studied English/Journalism at Miami University in Ohio, have a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Dayton and I spent five years teaching even more personality-rich pre-teens. For some sick reason, I actually enjoyed teaching junior high. Now as a stay-at-home mom, I'm clinging to that status by throwing my hat in the author's ring and hoping I get to keep it there.
