Welcome Today's Featured Author
H.C. Bentley!!!

BLURB:
She left for the military thinking she would have it all. The career, the man she loved, a family of her own. Then her fiancĂ© issued an ultimatum: come home and marry him, or lose him forever.   Eight years later, Lieutenant Lynn Johnston returns to her small Kentucky hometown with a secret to keep and a desire to find peace. Her planned lifelong career had been cut short by events beyond her control. Now, she hoped that she could forge a new path, one that would heal her heart and help to put her past behind her. Those hopes are dashed when she discovers Carter Mathis, her former fiancĂ©, has also returned and is raising his two young sons.   Lynn must decide if she can deal with not only the old hurt feelings from the past -- and Carter’s soon-to-be ex who has a vendetta against Lynn-- to give Carter a second chance. A deadly collapse at the coal mines where Carter works, an accident that rocks the town, could possibly take the choice out of her hands. Does she confront her feelings and move forward, or leave the life she's always wanted behind?

Interview With H.C. Bentley:
1. Can you tell us a little about your book?
Ultimately, it's about two people finding their way back, in more ways than one. Lynn finds her way home, Carter finds his way back to the life he's always wanted to have, and they both find their way back to each other. There are issues and struggles, as there are with any person or relationship, but it's the paths the characters choose and the choices they make that make the journey interesting.

2. How did you choose the genre you write in?
I’ve always been a lover of the romance genre. I do read other genres (HUGE Harry Potter fan, and I loved The Hunger Games), but romance always pulls me back in.

3. Do you work with an outline, or just write?
I have to plan! I’ve tried writing without one, and I always feel lost when I do. I don’t necessarily outline, but I summarize where I want each chapter to go. That way, I have a path to follow, but I’m not restricted every step of the way.

4. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
I have this ritual where I grab the laptop, pile up the pillows, and prop myself up in bed to write. I generally write at night after my kids go to bed, so it works out for me.

5. Do you have a favorite food or drink you must have nearby when writing?
A big glass of sweet tea! It’s a southern thing. lol

6. Do you listen to music while you write?
I don’t, actually. Which surprises some people because I love music. But, I don’t want the lyrics or tone of the songs influencing what I’m writing. Plus, it can get distracting. So, instead I use a link to an ambient noise track with rain and cafĂ© sounds that runs on a loop. I don’t know why, but it really helps me focus.

7. What is your favorite thing to do when you're not writing?
I’m a movie buff, so I’ll watch movies. Hang out with the family. Haul my camera out and go shoot some landscapes. Read or work in the garden. Just depends on the day.

8. What are you working on next?
I’m in the process of wrapping up the first draft of the next book in the Small Town Hearts trilogy. This book focuses on Kari and how things from the past have a way of catching up with you.
