Interview With Becky Flade
  1. Can you tell us a little about your book?
THE CZECH DECEPTION is book 2 in the Covert Passions series highlighting the life-or-death missions of CIA covert operative, Paige Fleming. Paige is essentially a female James Bond. In book 2, she’s still reeling from her last mission in Ireland and the man she left behind [GODDESS OF THE HUNT] when Paige lands in Prague with orders to save and flip her long-time asset and some-time lover, Gregor Kovac.
  1. When did you know you wanted to write a book?
I was in kindergarten. No lie! We had a few minutes of free time one afternoon and some kids were playing dressing up, others were working with building blocks. I grabbed some sheets of paper and a pencil and asked my teacher to help me turn my story into a book. She wrote while I dictated. And boom! First book ;) It was a thrilling page turner about getting lost on the way to the store.
  1. Which of your characters would you like to meet in person and why?
Oh, that’s hard ‘cause I’m crazy about all of them. They are all so very real to me. But If I can only pick one I guess it would be Maggie, star of FATED SOULS and a minor, yet important, character in FATED HEARTS. She is an outrageous, out spoken, spitfire that I think I would really enjoy spending time with. Her and her soul mate Aidan are two of my favorite characters – ever.
  1. Do you work with an outline, or just write?
Normally I just write by the seat of my pants with therapeutic showers to work through difficult transitions or the dreaded writer’s block. But my current project wasn’t flowing, and I had to outline/plot it out to see where the characters were going and how best to get them there.
  1. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
In the writing nook my hubby created for me in the far corner of our living room. I get to be with my family even when I’m not “with” my family. We have bay windows to my right, and I can look out on the kids playing when I’m chewing on a scene or some dialogue. It’s the perfect space for me. Though sometimes I’m on the couch trying to convince the man to rub my feet while I write. It’s not called a laptop for nothing!
  1. Do you have a favorite food or drink you must have nearby when writing?
Sunday through Thursday it’s Pepsi. I am a Pepsi addict, preferably with bags of watermelon sour patch and cheddar cheese pretzel Combos nearby. But on Friday’s I like to have a glass of wine beside me – I save the sexy scenes for Fridays.
  1. What’s your favorite summertime activity?
I love to swim. Really love it. My imaginary dream house has a big in-ground pool and a lap pool indoors. I’d be completely happy submerged daily year round but in Philly that’s not exactly an option.
  1. What are writing projects are you currently working on?
FATED DESIRES the third book in my bestselling series from Crimson Romance. And it is giving me fits. It wasn’t a planned installment and required a lot more work than any before it. I’m also working on polishing the 3rd Covert Passions novella – BEFORE THE FALL. And have a new short story releasing in an anthology later this year with Fireside Press. And I’m close to wrapping up my Wattpad serial IN THE GREY. So you can say I’m pretty busy right now. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
