The aim, to look for a new beginning, a fresh start. But she has one clear notion – to never love again.

Talented surfer, Zed Maddison, has always worked hard at protecting those closest to him, until the day he fails. Fighting his own demons, Zed flees his close family; unable to
face them and the remorse he feels before finally arriving in Haywater.

PROLOGUE – Book Two
BEA

I step out of the car onto the cobbled stone outside the church, but I can’t seem to move any further. I don’t want to go any further because this should not be happening. None of us should be here, especially Betts.
Come on, Bea, they’re getting out of the other car, we need to go to them. Tyler, walk with your sister.”
My brother hangs back because I need a second before I follow. I make the mistake of looking up to the sky—tears immediately fill my eyes. I hadn’t noticed until now how bright the sun is shining. The cliché would be for rain to fall and dark clouds to crowd the sky. But that wouldn’t be right for Betts. She deserves the sunshine.
With a deep breath, I take my brother’s arm, and we make a slow approach. Uncle Mike is the first out of the car. He holds out his palm for Aunt Grace. Zed and Noah get out the other side. The second I see Zed I turn away, unable to witness his pain.
Christ, he can’t live with himself, look at his face.”
Immediately, I turn on my brother forcing him to take a step back. “Don’t you ever insinuate he didn’t do all he could. They both did.” I whisper. Reid and Zed had both been there on the day Betts died. Neither could save her. She disappeared beneath the waves before their eyes. They searched and searched… but she wasn’t found until hours later. “I have not one single doubt in my mind that this is tearing them to pieces. You never allow those words to leave your lips again.” I warn. Tyler bobs his head now, bereft at his statement.
As I finally draw my eyes back up to my cousin, I understand Tyler’s words. Pain is etched in every line, every muscle on Zed’s face. His eyes are where the sorrow is more visible though, making my cousin unrecognisable. My focus lands to those standing closest to Zed. I promised myself I wouldn’t look for him, but I have to. I scan over the many faces but come up empty.
Where’s Reid?” I ask my brother, the confusion evident in my voice. “He needs to be here.”
He told Zed he didn’t think it was right to go in the car with them seeing as though he’s not family.”
What?” Again I act stunned at my brother. “Of course he’s family.”
Well, technically he isn’t.”
Tyler Maddison, I swear to God you need to keep that mouth closed, or I’m going to shove it on top of a headstone.” Reid is family. He may have lived across the road from my cousins but he was with them every single day, he is as much a part of their lives as I am. Other than Doug and Alice, his foster carers, we are the only family he’s ever known.
I’m sorry, I don’t know where this shit is coming from. I guess I don’t handle funerals too well. Come on.” Tyler gestures for us to continue walking.
As we make our way towards my family, the sound of a motorbike grows closer. My whole body stills, knowing it’s him. When the engine shuts off, my body twists of its own accord and my eyes naturally gravitate in his direction. He takes the helmet from his head and lets it hang loosely at his side. With his eyes to the ground, he steps off his bike and hangs his leather jacket on the handle bars. With feet that appear as heavy as lead, he approaches our family. Briefly, his eyes link to mine, and I face an emptiness I’ve witnessed once before. The day Reid arrived in Merribay. I draw in a breath in an attempt to alleviate the pain that reverberates through my chest at the sight of the lost boy who has once again returned. Dropping his focus, he steps to Zed, and I watch as Zed wrenches Reid to him. They stand, united in each other’s sorrow. One has lost a sister, the other the only girl he’s ever wanted to protect.
Tyler squeezes my hand before he joins the rest of the men. I watch in agony as Uncle Mike, my dad, Zed, Noah, Tyler, and finally Reid, step to the coffin ready to accept my cousin for her final journey.
My cousin who I have already failed. My cousin who asked something of me and instead of saying yes, I should have said no. My thoughts veer to the last time I saw Betts, the day I made her a promise.
I draw my knees to my chest and wrap my arms around them before watching him out at sea.
You’re actually going to do this?” I ask, my voice barely above a whisper. We both have our eyes trained on one man, the man whose heart my cousin is about to break. Reid Banner.
Yes, I am. It’s the right thing to do,” Betts replies. “I thought, out of everybody, you would understand. He’s my friend, Bea, my best friend. He’s not the man I am in love with, you know that.”
I shake my head and let out a breath.
You have to trust me on this, Bea. He has never wanted me to see life in any way other than perfect,” she continues. “So he’s stayed by my side, believing he’s protecting me when the one he is shielding from pain is himself. He wants to live in this sheltered existence he’s created because Reid knows just how disappointing the outside world can be.” Her voice trails off, and she remains quiet. I immediately sense her unease. “This isn’t just about him, Bea.” She lowers her eyelids and whispers. “I’m selfish; I know I am but I want to get out and experience the world. I love him but not in the way he deserves and it’s suffocating me. He’s been my strength for as long as I can remember but I want to gain my own strength now and in turn, release him. So I’m going to ask you something… and you’re going to think I’m crazy…” I loosen the grip on my legs and return her gaze. She provides me with that heart-warming smile she owns. “I need you to promise that you’ll be there for him.”
What?” I whisper-shout. “Me? You want me to promise?” I stare at my cousin open-mouthed.
She grins back. “Yeah, you.”
He can barely look at me without it sparking some sarcastic comment. I am not the person you should be asking.” What is she thinking? I stand up with a start and gather my belongings. I’m leaving for home today, and this is not a conversation I need to be having. I can’t believe she is asking me. “Me?” I stare at her dumbfounded. Reid Banner has quite frankly been a total arse to me since the day we met. I get it, and I’m okay with it. He needs someone, like a bully needs a target. He needs to vent, to express his anger and because I’ve pretty much been blessed with a life that was the total opposite of his, I take it, preferring the words of spite that leave his lips to be aimed at me rather than someone like Betts because the words and taunts would crucify her. So I know right now my cousin is bat shit crazy. I am the last person Reid will ever need.
Yes, you.” She repeats gently and reaches for my hand. “You’re the only person it can be.”
Betts…” I shake my head on an exhale. “It’s one thing putting up with his comments and digs but what you’re asking me… It would be like inviting the abuse into my life, and that’s a whole new level of insanity. You know what he’s like with me. Why would you ask me?”
She lowers her chin and looks away from me. “There are things you don’t understand about Reid, reasons for the way he is… He’ll never leave me, Bea but I need him to, he needs me to.”
You’re crazy,” I mutter, shaking my head in disbelief. Betts is basically asking me to put myself in prime position to receive Reid’s taunts. He’s going to be hurting and want to lash out even more than he has before.
Like I say, there are things about Reid you don’t know. I just want you to check in with him once in a while—”
Are you planning on going somewhere?”
No, I will be here, but it will take time for him to recognise that separating ourselves is the right thing to do. He has Zed, and they’re pretty tight, but Reid still keeps the one thing that matters from both of us. His past. He says he doesn’t remember, that he was too young, but I don’t believe him. I think he was hurt… a lot… before he came here. One day he’ll be ready to talk. I want him to have someone willing to listen.”
And you’re insinuating that I be the one to listen?” My voice hitches up in volume.
I think you’re just the person that needs to hear it.” I widen my eyes incredulously. My cousin has totally lost it.
Bea!” She nods her head. I follow her signal. Reid is approaching us—his expression softens the moment his eyes land on Betts. She is the only girl Reid has ever allowed to come close to entering his heart. Her palms have wrapped around it, cushioning it, preventing it from any further pain. With a sinking feeling, I realise once Betts releases the protective hold she has on him, his heart is liable to break all over again.
For me, Bea. Promise me.” She whispers her plea.
I’m quiet for what seems like an eternity which confuses me because I knew my answer the second she asked. “I promise.”
Accepting mum’s outstretched arm, I drop my chin to my chest and take my heartache with everyone else’s into the church. Tears once again begin to fall.
I cry for the beautiful blue eyed girl we have all lost.
I cry for the guilt that lies so heavily in my heart, knowing I will never see Betts again to offer her my apology.

Violence corroded her…

Obedience defiled her…

Fear kept her chained…

Freedom is hard to embrace when she’s never learned to trust. Yet in the span of a second, she grabs a single opportunity and runs toward it. Straight into the sanctuary of a pub at the end of a wharf.

She doesn’t understand the concept of friendship. She’s never felt the connection of a relationship. She’s as innocent as the driven snow and yet tainted with corruption. Still, she finds herself surrounded by people who accept her, without even knowing the first thing about her. But one of them is determined to dig deeper.

He treasures his friends, yet he’s steered clear of committed relationships. He likes his life comfortably predictable and entirely controlled. Until it isn’t. For months he’s avoided interacting with The Skipper’s newest addition. Perhaps realizing that once he looked deeply into those liquid brown eyes, he wouldn’t be able to turn away.

When his present and her past puts them both on the brink of change, they are forged through fire as one.

BONUS CHAPTER

Rebecca was aware of a noise somewhere off in the distance. She didn't know what it was, or where it was coming from, but she knew it was there nevertheless. She was in a dreamlike state and felt slightly apprehensive. Hidden forces were pulling her forward. She didn't really want to go where they were taking her, but decided to go with the flow and see what happened.

In a haze Rebecca watched, as if from above, as she walked towards the car and got in. The car propelled itself forward and was quickly on the motorway. In what seemed like no time at all Rebecca was pulling into the prison car park and memories suddenly flooded her mind.

She could see rain and a lot of lights, bright white and red, flashes of blue interspersed throughout. She could hear shouting and car brakes slamming on. Then the scene changed and a face appeared, blurred, blue eyes standing out from it. A canal appeared in the distance, red roses floating on the surface. This image was one which caused a shiver to run through her. She saw a smile and warmth rushed through her, chasing away the bad feelings.

Rebecca's focus seemed to clear. She was standing at the bottom of steps, a rail running up the middle, she could see glass doors at the top. She felt herself walk slowly up the steps, her right hand holding the rail. She reached the top and pushed the door in front of her open, walking into a large bright space. It was so bright she felt the need to shield her eyes. There was no sign of anyone else and a sudden sense of emptiness rushed through her body.

Rebecca spun round in a circle, searching for any sign of life, but she found none. For a few moments she contemplated going further into the area but decided against it as the need to be back outside had her quickly back at the top of the steps and walking down, again holding the rail. As she reached the bottom step she felt a presence behind her and turned to see if someone was there. As she turned, all she could see were the blue eyes from earlier.

The eyes came closer, a body morphing round them, turning into a man she felt she should know. His eyes may have been bright, but they looked sad. Rebecca didn't want him to reach her, so she moved back a few steps to try and get away.

"Bex, don't walk away. Please. I need to explain..." said the man now standing right in front of her. "I need to tell you why this has happened."

"Why what has happened? I don't understand." Rebecca replied.

"Bex I'm so sorry, I don't exactly understand it all myself. But what I do know is that this is what was always meant to happen. We were never meant to go away together. I don't know the plan for your future, but it's not with me. Please try to understand."

"No," she cried, "No, I don't want to hear this. I don't, I don't know what's going on. This feels wrong, so wrong. Where were we going? Why? Who are you?" Rebecca asked. As the words left her mouth more memories assaulted her mind.

Those eyes belonged to Richie, she was in love with Richie, and he was in love with her. They were going away together on holiday, a romantic getaway to cement their feelings for each other. They were leaving that day. She was there to collect him. Why was he saying they couldn't go? This wasn't right, something was very wrong.

"I remember," Rebecca said to Richie, "I remember everything. We are going on holiday today, we need to leave now. What do you mean we were never meant to go? Why book it and not go? Explain it to me please!" she pleaded.

"Bex none of this is real, it's only real in your head. I'm not really standing in front of you, and we aren't going away on holiday. Believe me when I say I wish things were different. I tried desperately to avoid this, but everything seemed to work against me. I am so so sorry this has happened. You must believe that my love for you is as real now as it has always been. Always remember that I love you and I always will."

Rebecca stood in shock, wanting to close her ears to what Richie was telling her, yet at the same time almost needing to keep listening in order to understand what was going on.

"Bex you need to move forward from this, don't wallow in the grief so long it changes who you are inside. You will always have the memories, and the love, to keep you going. Find someone else, someone who will love you, look after you, care for you for years to come. I know in my heart that is the right thing for you, no matter how hard it may be."

"Find someone else? I don't want anyone else, I want you. I love YOU. Why is this happening? Not real, what's not real?" Rebecca almost screamed at Richie.

"Try to remember, please just try to remember. But never forget I love you."

As he said the words Richie started to fade away, into the distance, until there was nothing left. The noise Rebecca had heard earlier returned, quickly becoming louder, turning into something physical. It began to hurt her ears, her heart, her very core. She could make out blurred faces in front of her eyes, shock evident as she watched them.

It was a scream. The noise. It was a scream. Her scream. Rebecca was screaming and everything flooded back in an instant.

Richie was dead. He had died inside the prison, in a room he was forced into, as he escorted prisoners back to their cells after a fight broke out. The love of her life was gone, taken from her in an act so violent she couldn't get it straight in her head quite yet. Her life as she knew it was over, and she didn't want to go on without him.

"Richie, don't go. Please don't go." Rebecca managed to say, as she slipped into darkness. She wanted to forget, she needed to forget. Perhaps when she awoke it would turn out to be a dream. No, not a dream, a nightmare. One which she hoped beyond all hope she would come out of intact, but at the same time realising deep down that she wouldn't. Her life had changed and she wasn't sure she could go on without him.

I am a Scottish lass born and bred, grew up in Ayrshire now live in Bonnybridge. An avid reader as a child, my love of books has grown with me. I am a blogger, although I am currently taking an extended break, a reviewer and a beta reader. I am a huge supporter of indie authors, and still can't quite believe I'm about to join such an amazing group of people.

I work full time as a nanny in Edinburgh. To break the monotony of rush hour traffic I occasionally find myself daydreaming on my way home. It was during one of these journeys that the idea for Hearts in Danger came to me. Knowing I had to get the story out of my head I took part in Nanowrimo 2015. By the end of the month I had not only written over 50,000 words, I had surprised myself by sticking to it every single day.

What happens next, who knows? Wherever this journey takes me, though, I will be forever grateful for the help and support I have had along the way from family, friends, bloggers, reviewers and authors alike.

What the fu-?!” Nick Dacre carefully blinked open his eyes, squinting as bright rays of daylight stung like daggers and his pupils fought to adjust. The 747 that was coming in to land very close by was doing nothing to help his thumping head. He slowly turned to one side and noticed a ridiculous number of bottles strewn around the room—varying types of alcoholic beverages had obviously once filled them but all were now evidently empty. Clenching his eyes shut for a moment he felt disgusted and disgusting simultaneously. His stomach roiled as another turn of his head revealed a naked blonde woman.
He had no idea a) who she was and b) how she ended up, in her current state of undress, in his bed…in his hotel room. He made to sit up and it was only then that the room began to do a three-sixty turn around his head.
Gah!” He raised his hands to his temples as if it would help to stop the spinning but his attempts were futile and the room’s rotation continued in earnest. The rancid taste of stale alcohol in his mouth made him wonder if he had perhaps been licking dustbin lids in his drunken stupor—or frenching with Jabba The Hutt maybe?
The blonde began to stir.
He froze and held his breath.
The silly thing was he had woken up in this exact state on so many occasions he’d lost count. But for some reason this felt…different. The 747 got closer. Scrunching his pained eyes he turned towards the god-awful noise and realised it was the chambermaid with a vacuum cleaner.
Morning, sleepyhead!” a familiar sing-song voice called from the adjoining sitting room of the large suite, and its owner rounded the corner. “I let the maid in to sort your mess out. Good God, it stinks in here!” Den, the band’s rather camp, post middle-aged manager walked towards Nick. Unlike the singer Den was far too perky as usual, sunglasses atop his head and looking like he had stepped off the set of the advert for a well-known fizzy drink…a delightful shade of orange with his newly applied spray tan.
What the hell happened last night, Den? I feel like shit,” Nick whispered, scared to speak any louder in case the comatose blonde gained full consciousness beside him.
Ooh, shame on you for needing to ask.” Den waved an excited hand. “It was a fantastic night. We rocked the O2 arena—but I’m sure you remember that particular little snippet—and then you all got completely rat-arsed at the after show party.” The fifty-year-old regaled him in his broad Yorkshire accent whilst he eyed up the blonde with derision. “Some of us clearly got lucky too.”
Nick rubbed his eyes. “I…I remember the gig of course…and…I remember the start of the party…but…not much else. Not good.” He shook his head as he scrambled around his brain and fought to regain the memories from the previous night.
The vacuum cleaner fell silent and the mystery blonde sat bolt upright with a sharp cry, making Nick almost jump out of his skin and jerk his head in her direction. Her eyes widened as her horrified stare flitted between the two men. Without speaking she glanced down at her body and squealed before grappling the sheets and covering her bare, obviously enhanced breasts.
Den tilted his head to one side and pouted at the bewildered woman. In his most famous condescending tone he said, “Aww, bit late for that, love, really.” Her cheeks coloured cerise and he responded with a dirty, coarse cackled laugh. Turning his attention back to Nick he began to back away toward the door. “Well, I’ll leave you two love-birds to say your goodbyes. Better get your shit together, Dacre. We set off for Germany in just over an hour. Toodles!” He winked, waggled his fingers and left the suite.
The chambermaid poked her head around the door. “Ahem…Mr…erm…Mr Dacre? Is it okay for me to collect up your empties now? I didn’t want to wake you and your…erm…girlfriend before…but I really need to get on and do the rest of the suites or my boss will be on my case.” The young, make-up free girl stood fiddling with the vacuum cleaner cable. Nick figured she couldn’t have been any older than eighteen and he was a little amused at the fact she was wearing an oversized grey chambermaid’s uniform which hung from her skinny frame like it belonged to someone else. Her straight blonde hair was scraped back in a ponytail. So young and innocent. Nick frowned at the errant thought invading his mind and tried to push away the additional thought that she was much too young to witness the remnants of such debauchery.
In spite of his best efforts to ignore the unfamiliar niggling guilt knotting his stomach, the heat of shame rose in Nick’s cheeks.
He nodded. “Yeah. Yeah, sure. My…girlfriend is just leaving.” He cringed as he turned his attention from the chambermaid to the blonde stranger in his bed.

An extra special chapter written exclusively for the Baby Game Blog Tour
by Andie M. Long.

This scene takes place in New York after the birth of Stella and Gabe’s second child.

When babysitting goes crap.

Can we ask you a huge favour?” Gabe comes walking into the lounge wearing the appearance of parents of newborns. His face weary and ashen.
Sure. Ask away,” I reply.
Do you think you and Harry could look after Zander for a couple of hours this afternoon? It’s just I feel that Athena’s feeling a little left out and we could use some fresh air and peace. We thought we’d take her to Central Park Zoo. While you’re here, you could enjoy extra special baby cuddles.” Gabe leans into the crib and strokes the side of his newborn son’s face.
Well, how could I resist baby cuddles?” I smile. I glance at Harry who nods his head.
Yes, we’ll do it.” I tell Gabe. “You go get ice creams at the zoo and spoil my little girl.”
God that sounds nice, being spoiled.” Stella raises her head up from where it’s been resting on a sofa cushion. She’s been dozing at the side of the crib for the last couple of hours after Zander stayed awake most of the night. He is of course, now sleeping soundly in the daytime.
I was talking about Athena, not you.” I retort.
Figures.” Stella rolls her eyes. “Right I’m going to pop in the shower to try and wake myself up and then we’ll get going. Oh, Gabe let’s have lunch out too.”
Sounds good to me. I’ll get Athena ready,” adds Gabe. “Will you two be alright with Zander for a bit?”
Well, let’s hope so seeing as you’re leaving him with us all afternoon.” I shoo them out of the room.
You’ll have to do the nappies, I’ll puke.” Says my husband.
You’re so pathetic.” I push his arm. “You are so doing a nappy and I’m going to video you doing it.”
How come it doesn’t bother you?”
I’m always dealing with cat and dog shit in gardens. You get used to it after a while.” I’ve also had to have a blood test for toxoplasmosis as their faecal matter can affect embryos and cause potential blindness but of course I can’t tell my husband that.
Later, we say goodbye to Gabe, Stella and Athena and return to the lounge. The room is bathed in sunlight, one curtain drawn across to shade Zander. He looks like an angel, with his little chubby cheeks and contented face.
Harry and I spend the next thirty minutes making out on the sofa as Zander continues to sleep. Then Harry utters the words that change everything.
Piece of piss this baby lark isn’t it? I can’t understand what people moan about.”
I try to place my hands over his mouth but it’s too late, the words have been ejected into the world, where the forces of nature are about to laugh at us from a great height. As Harry knocks my hands away from his mouth asking me what I’m doing, he jolts the end of the crib.
Waaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh.”
I get up and stand over the crib and stroke Zander’s nose like I’ve seen Stella do. It does nothing. In fact his little face scrunches up and gets red. I reach into the crib and pick him up.
Shh Zee, it’s Auntie Ronnie. It’s all okay. Shh.” I rock him in my arms.
Zander settles in my arms, so I quit the rocking.
Don’t stop,” shouts Harry.
My eyes widen, “Why not? What’s wrong?” I panic.
Nothing. I’m watching your boobs jiggle about, it’s fucking awesome.”
He gets a dirty look for that remark and not an encouraging one.
I attempt to lay Zander back in his crib but he’s having none of it.
Do you think he’s hungry?” I ask Harry.
I don’t know. Shall I warm up a bottle to see?”
Yeah. Go on.”
Zander was indeed hungry and guzzles his bottle down in what seems like nanoseconds. After I wind him he seems quite settled in my arms. I’m not really keen on trying to put him back down in his crib when he’s settled but Harry’s nuzzling my neck. He’s obviously got the horn on and wants a bit of attention himself.
Harry, pack it in.”
I’m trying to.”
Suddenly Zander’s face goes puce again.
What’s happening to him Harry? Something's wrong.”
That something reveals itself as a massive fart.
Oh my God, that absolutely reeks,” says Harry making gipping noises. “I’ll tidy this bottle away in the kitchen.”
No you will not. You’ll put the baby changing mat on the floor and check if Zander’s made a deposit.”
Ron, I can’t change a nappy. You know what I’m like with smells.”
What about when we have a kid?” I ask him.
I’ll employ a nappy changer.”
The trouble is he’s probably not kidding.
Come on. Common cognitive behavioural therapy approach required. Aversion therapy. The best way to get over it is to do it.”
I don’t want to know how you’re an expert in CBT.”
I shrug my shoulders. “I was given a course as part of treatment for my apparent stalking. Not aversion therapy, just training in impulse control.”
And how’s that worked for you?”
My impulse was to get a crush on the Therapist. He signed me off if I promised not to visit him at home again.”
Harry shakes his head.
Anyway.” I place a stinking Zander on the mat. “Crack on. I’ll walk you through it.”
I look at little Zander on the mat. He’s so very tiny. I can’t believe we will have one of our own soon.
Take off his bottoms and then undo the poppers at the bottom of his bodysuit.”
As Harry removes the little leggings I can see that the leg holes of his body suit are a mustard colour. Harry notices and winces.
Jesus, has he been rolling in piccalilli?” Harry turns to me looking like a man who’s been told to go on a lifesaving mission from which he may never return. “Are there any gloves?”
No, there are the baby wipes if you get any on your hands. Get on with it, poor little guys miserable.”
Harry carefully undoes the poppers and takes off Zander’s bodysuit after I tell him we must put him a new one on. As he lifts it he smears poo on Zander’s head. “Hang on mate, I’ll get that off with a wipe,” he informs the newborn. “I’ll take your nappy off first.”
There’s not that much poo in the nappy to be honest. Just a yellowy spray of liquid. It’s spread itself around the nappy. As Harry puts the nappy to one side and reaches over for a wipe, Zander’s foot touches his bottom smearing shit on the mat. His hands excitedly pump and before the wipe is in Harry’s hand, Zander also has it on his hand and the side of his mouth.
Oh Christ.”
Harry leans over Zander and wipes first his face, then his hand. “Hey little guy, it’s not so bad is it? Uncle Harry will clean you up.” Harry grabs Zanders other hand and lifts it to his lips and kisses it. Unfortunately what Harry hadn’t realised is that while he was cleaning him, Zanders other hand had touched his dirty bottom.
Arrrgggh. Oh my God, I have shit in my mouth. I repeat I have baby shit in my mouth.”
I really do want to help, but I’m videoing and far too busy being in hysterics.
Harry you can’t abandon the baby, you’re going to have to wait. Just rub a wipe across your face for now and clean Zander up.”
Harry takes a deep breath, grabs a handful of baby wipes and starts again. He wipes Zander’s other hand, his feet and finally his poo covered bottom. Then he lifts up his legs and wipes the mat underneath him.
I did it. Oh my God, I actually did it.” Harry turns to me. “I survived a nappy change.” He leans over Zander. “Hiya gorgeous guy. How’s it feel to be all clean, hey?”
Zander answers by spraying my husband in urine.

When Gabe and Stella return home and come into the lounge, they both raise an eyebrow at the fact my husband is shirtless while their baby sleeps away in his crib.
It’s not what you think.” Answers Harry.
Well you can fill us in on your afternoon in a mo,” says Stella. “I’ve brought you a treat from the cafe at the park. I’ll get some plates.”
Oh, what is it?” I ask, realising I’m ready for something to eat and drink.
Toffee and banana mousse. It’s their speciality.” Stella takes the lid off the box.
Harry and myself peer into the box and catch sight of the light yellowy-brown mousse.
Thanks so much but I think we’ll give it a miss Stella,” says Harry, gulping and trying his very best not to heave.
