Synopsis:
Love........................The Ultimate Loss of Control
Rain and Raven Medici are identical twins. Although they come from a loving close-knit family their childhoods couldn’t have been more different. Raven went to school and was exposed freely to the outside world. Rain on the other hand was born with a blood disorder and denied many normal childhood experiences.
Once grown, Raven becomes a lawyer at their dad’s firm Kane & Medici in NYC. Rain along with her only childhood friend Tommy Conte, builds a very successful business as professional photographers. Traveling between Europe and Manhattan, and enjoying a world that was kept from her, Rain vows never to be controlled again.
Dominick Kane is a product of his upbringing. He’s powerful, self-assured and knows he can achieve anything he desires. Nothing gets in his way. There is only one
thing he has ever failed at. A relationship with his father Vincent Kane. Upon his father’s death, Dominick vows revenge. The events he sets in motion put him on a
collision course he himself will be unable to control.
In a bizarre twist of fate, Dominick kidnaps Raven as part of his plan for revenge. Only to discover afterward, he has taken Rain by mistake. Rain knows she can never survive being confined again. So she strikes a bargain with the devil and agrees to help Dominick get back what he feels rightly belongs to him. His father’s share of Kane & Medici.
Dominick decides to use the strong attraction growing between Rain and himself to control her in every way imaginable. Too bad no one ever taught Dominick you can’t control the heart. Nothing could have prepared him for the effect Rain would have on his.
Will this plan of revenge turn into unconditional love? Or will Dominick and Rain’s need for control ultimately destroy them and any possible chance for a real future
together.......
Review by Guest Blogger Angela:
Rain Medici was born with a blood disorder that her twin, Raven, was not. This caused her mother to shelter her to an extreme when she was a child, while Raven was free to live a normal childhood. Rain had one friend while growing up that her mother seemed to allow her, Tommy. Her mother stayed in the family's Italian home a great deal during Rain and Raven's childhood, and her father had to work constantly in order to provide that luxury for them.
As
Rain grew up, her condition became more manageable and her mother
finally allowed her to go to college away from home. Rain traveled the
world extensively and Raven joined her father's footsteps in his law
practice and became engaged to Tommy's brother. Rain and Tommy began a
very successful photography business and Rain vowed to never be
controlled again.
And then she met Dominick Kane.
Dominick
Kane is a very powerful and successful lawyer who wants what he thinks
is his. His father and Rain's father were business partners, and when
he died, he left his shares in the law firm to Mr. Medici, not Dominick.
Dominick and his father never had a very good relationship and
Dominick still hasn't come to terms with that fact. So, he does the only
thing he thinks will solve his problems: Kidnap Medici's only
daughter, RAVEN, and make him hand over his fair share to the law firm
in order to get Raven back. Sounds like a great idea, right?
RAIN is on her way to Capri, Italy when she is
kidnapped by thugs. She is taken to a house and held in a fancy
bedroom. As she begins to learn of her captor's intentions, she
realizes that he thinks she is Raven, and doesn't seem to know Rain even
exists. Did I mention Rain and Raven are identical twins, and Rain
stays out of the spotlight most of the time?
Rain decides
to pretend to be Raven in order to perhaps talk her way out of the
kidnapping, as well as protect her sister for possible harm if they were
to realize they had the wrong person. Sounds like a good plan, right?
Well, Dominick has taken all of her possessions from her....including
her medication..... and it begins to take a toll on her health.
From the
moment Rain and Dominick meet, they are inexplicably drawn to each
other, and are both wonder what that says about their state of mind
since it is a kidnapping situation. And I had to agree with that
thought as I read this book. However, as the book progressed and we got
to see Dominick and Rain interact....I slowly began to change my mind.
Dominick is a very complicated and dominating
person. His inner conflicts drive him to be hot one minute and cold the
next. Rain grows to see the side of Dominick that he doesn't let
anyone else see, except for his housekeeper and her husband, who does
several jobs for him. She agrees to help him get his inheritance from
her father, and they form a plan together. She thinks she has figured
him out enough to know how he feels. However, no one can really figure
him out.
There
are many twists and turns in this book, but I can not tell you more
because it would totally spoil the rest of the book for you! I wasn't
sure if this book would be believable or not. I mean, you fall in love
with your kidnapper, even though he was gentle with you and wasn't
trying to harm you in any way?!? But I get it. Sometimes your body and
heart tell you things that your mind just can't reason out or fight. I
can't say much - I met my soul mate one night by chance and a week later
knew I was done for!
A series of events and new information comes to
light that make Dominick and Rain question everything they thought they
ever knew and felt. Dominick can't stop his need for control or revenge,
and Rain can't figure out how to let him in without totally losing
herself in the process.

About Cleo Scornavacca :
As far back as I can remember, I've loved books. I love reading them and finally, I've admitted to myself that I love to write them.
Since the day I started to write Rain and Dominick's story, I've never looked back, nor do I regret one single moment of it.
When I write, much of the time the story plays in my head as a movie and sometimes even includes background music. We can all use a little background music.
I try to add elements of things I love. And share them with the readers. I'll continue to create characters and stories that you can laugh, cry, love, hate and even become slightly crazy about.
Let's face it, we can all use some crazy every now and then.
