Between the Pain
Author Gia Riley
Contemporary Romance Novella
Synopsis:
Graduating from nursing school and
finding herself thrown into the real world, twenty-two year old
Hallie Dawson is determined to prove herself on the job. A chance
encounter on the first day has charming Ryan Andrews showing up
everywhere she goes. With only a string of random hook-ups and one
failed relationship in her past, Hallie isn’t used to being
pursued. For the first time, two men desire her. Will she choose the
right one – or does fate hold all the cards?
Between the Pain is a Contemporary
Romance novella about finding love - and being brave enough to follow
your heart. Will Hallie end up in the arms of her true love or are
the moments in between her pain forming the real story.
Timing is everything.
A fraction of a second, one altered
course, one note -- change her life forever.
Excerpt:
I finally get a closer inspection of
this mysterious stranger. I love what I see. Ryan has to be close to
six feet tall with broad shoulders and a defined waist I could wrap
my legs around. I bet he has that v thing happening and seriously
chiseled abs. I can tell he works out and definitely has an athletic
build, but it’s his smile that lights up his whole face and those
eyes….golden brown with a hint of green. I never knew hazel could
be so alluring. They’re the perfect complement to his sandy brown
hair that I would love to run my fingers through and tug on while we
make out in the supply room. Not that I would do that or anything,
just hypothetically speaking. His tan skin is seriously sexy making
it look like he just came back from an exotic vacation. What are the
odds of seeing this guy twice in the first hour I’ve been here? I
will chalk it up to beginners luck. Surely that applies to meeting
strangers and not just board games. I snap back to reality, realizing
I am openly gawking, and finally manage to speak.

Interview With Gia:
1) Can you tell us a little about your
book?
Between the Pain
takes the reader on an emotional journey through life, love and
personal growth. Chance meetings end up challenging the characters to
overcome really intense obstacles. You will laugh and you might even
cry.
My leading lady, Hallie, is sassy,
witty and most importantly real. I’ve gotten so many messages from
readers telling me how she was so easy to relate to. That’s what I
wanted to create – characters who you would want to be friends with
and maybe even fall for.
2) Do you have a favorite spot to
write?
I bought a beautiful writing table not
long ago that I placed in front of a group of windows. I love the
natural light and it’s keeping me very organized.
3) Do you have any “odd” writing
habits?
I’m not sure it’s odd, but I don’t
always write the book in the order you would read it. Sometimes I
think of a great conversation or scene that I know will happen. I’ll
write it and then work around that to fill in the gaps. It helps me
to write it down and get it out of my system instead of waiting for
it to come.
4) If your book were made into a movie,
who do you picture playing each characters part?
I have trouble finding the “perfect”
Ryan for the big screen but I’d probably go with Justin Timberlake
or Channing Tatum. I do have a friend out in L.A. who would also make
a great Ryan. You may see him on a future cover as a different
character!
Sean would be played by Robbie Amell, a
Canadian actor. The dark hair, crystal blue eyes and overall look is
definitely how I picture Sean.
Hallie is tough, but I could see one of
my favorite ladies from The Young and the Restless, Elizabeth
Hendrickson, portraying her on the big screen. She’s an excellent
actress, has great style and makes me think of Hallie.
5) Which of your characters would you
like to meet in person and why?
All of them! I’d feel bad choosing
one over the other.
6) What's the last book you read?
I have so many books on my Kindle right
now. The one-click feature on Amazon always gets me in trouble. I’m
currently reading a manuscript from a fellow author friend along with
writing my next book. I think the last book I read was Stolen Course
by Ally Martinez.
7) What's one random fact about
yourself that you can share?
Hmmm. I don’t drink anything with
caffeine. I can’t say I’m totally caffeine free though because I
need chocolate in my life. But that’s the only exception.
8) Do you listen to music while you
write?
Absolutely! I create a playlist for
each book based on the plot or mood of the story. When I sit down to
write, I make sure to put it on. Of course I can’t listen to the
same one over and over, so I have several. Right now, I’m listening
to Phillip Phillips. He has a Dave Matthews vibe to his music that I
love. My playlists cover every genre. I need variety.
9) When can we expect book two?
The cover reveal for book two, After
the Pain, is scheduled for August 18th! The release will
follow mid-September!!
10) I saw you would be at the Kiss and
Tell Author Signing Event; will you be at any other event?
I’m so excited to be joining the
amazing group of authors in Harrisburg, PA next July. That’s the
only signing I’m committed to at the moment, but I have a few other
things in the works. I look forward to getting to meet those who’ve
loved Between the Pain. I’m really grateful for the wonderful
support I’ve received.
