I just finished
reading Ella J. Phoenix's book, Dragon Heat. This is book one in her
new Dragon Heat series. This series begins with the Draconian
demi-goddess, Zoricah, rescuing the Vampire Prince, Tardieh, from
imprisonment by the Draconian people during a civil war over power.
Neither one is sure if they can trust the other. But, let me tell you
the amount of chemistry between and Tardieh and Zoricah makes you sit up
and take notice - and they are interrupted before anything can come of
it.
Two hundred years, and a time of peace later, finds Zoricah seeking out
Tardieh's help in finding the missing daughter of a Draconian Senator,
Deidre (who is a dragon twin, which is very rare and treasured)... and
the chemistry is stronger than before. Even though they both fight
their feelings for one another and the trust issues they have keep
coming to the surface, Tardieh and Zoricah finally give in to their
feelings and come together....
Just as Zoricah and Tardieh find their way together, circumstances
arise that have them separated in searching for the leading person
behind Deidre's abduction as well as the massive abductions of females
from all races. And this is where the book leaves you - wanting to know
more!
I
had to pre-conceptions when I fist started this book. I had never heard
of it, but the blurb intrigued me. The parts that really loved in this
book were about Sam, a human with powers that Zoricah rescued from a
mental facility, and Hikuro, Tardieh's second in command and loyal
protector. What can I say about them? Not much is know about Sam and
her history but you can see that she has suffered some great trauma that
she is not fully recovered from. Hence, I want to know more! And, oh
Hikuro..... That vampire.... SO MYSTERIOUSLY HOT! Sam and Hikuro get
off on the wrong foot and the chemistry they have...like fire! I wanted
to know more about them both and what was going to happen with them!!
It definitely made me want to read the next book to find out what
happens next with all of them!

Vampire Thirst
(Dragon Heat #2)
Synopsis:
Sometimes life takes you down a completely different path from the one you had originally planned.
After successfully rescuing the daughter of a draconian senator and other innocent women from a vampire psychopath, Sam and fellow warriors, Zoricah and Yara, have to trade sunny New York for gloomy London. Time is running out on their unfinished mission. More innocent people will die if they don’t catch the person behind the attacks in New York. But something is making Sam lose control of her powers. Something or someone. Ever since her first - and quite heated - encounter with Hikuro, her energies had gone haywire. The vampire king’s second in command affected her in a way no one had ever before. Her torment, however, is bound to get worse, with Hikuro’s unexpected arrival in London.
Ever since she set foot on vampire territory, Sam had turned Hikuro’s carefully controlled life upside down. He doesn’t trust her, but some strange force pulled him toward her; an inexplicable attraction that defies centuries of training. But if Hikuro is to keep his king safe, he must keep a close eye on Sam, even if he loses his sanity and his heart in the process.

This is the second book in Phoenix's Dragon Heat series, and continues where book one left off:
Zoricah and her team and Tardieh and his men separate in order to track down leads to Yerik's experimental facilities.
Zoricah and Tardieh are at odds because she asked for time before accepting his marriage proposal- he feels she has rejected him and is very upset by that, and she feels that a marriage to her would cause a war.
Sam and Hikuro are hiding their attraction to one another behind hostility.
As the book begins, Hikuro arrives in England to give a report from Tardieh to Zoricah just as her house gets attacked. This makes Zoricah fly to Spain, going to Tardieh for help, while Hikuro stays with Yara and Sam. And oh, Hikuro.... That vampire intrigues me so much he's almost real! He's so mysterious and hot I could eat him up!
Events take place that have Sam and Hikuro facing their feelings for each other. And. It. Is. Hot. After reading the first book I really wanted more of those two, and Ms. Phoenix did not disappoint me! Without giving too much away, things heat up between them and new events take place between them that have Hikuro seeing things in a different light.... (I could have a whole book about those two!)
When Zoricah reaches Tardieh she is faced with mixed emotions and the group soon finds a lead they had been waiting for. Tardieh's alpha male comes out to meet Z's dominant dragon and things get hawt! Decisions are made about their relationship, and let me say Tardieh knows how to get his point across...
They all regroup together in England to follow a lead, and things explode bringing new information to light that will leave you with so many questions! Sam's past may be the key, but what does she even remember?
I really enjoyed this book and was left wanting to know more. I kept trying to turn the page but there wasn't another page to turn! Well played, Ms. Phoenix.
So if you like dragons, vampires, mystery, and hot romance this book is for you. :)
