Blog Tour for RARE AND PRECIOUS THINGS (The Blackstone Affair Book 4) by RAINE MILLER

Title: RARE AND PRECIOUS THINGS
(The Blackstone Affair Book 4)
Author: RAINE MILLER
hosted by: The Book Avenue

Review by Tabitha:
Just finished this amazing 4th installment  of The Blackstone Affair and wow Raine has completely knocked this last book out of the park. It was a perfect conclusion to a perfect series. Filthy mouthed and ridiculously sexy Ethan and his perfect American girl have finally become Mr. & Mrs. Blackstone and are expecting a baby. I have loved this whole amazing series from page 1 of the first book, Naked and have followed through all of Ethan and Brynne's love story as well as the tragedy, suspense, and obstacles they have had to face. I must say Raine totally gave the series justice with this last book. I must admit, I am so very sad this series has come to an end. This is one I will not only own the ebooks, but I will also have them on my favorite paperback shelf.  This book and really the whole series get more than 5 AMAZEBALLS stars!!

An ARC was given in exchange of an honest review.

The fourth part in the New York Times bestselling series, The Blackstone Affair: A bright beginning for two damaged souls fighting for their hard-won love, and the promise of a new hope to secure their happily ever after.

Fresh from an idyllic honeymoon along the Italian coast, the Blackstones prepare for the birth of their precious baby and the challenges of settling into a new home. But things get complicated when specters from the past reappear to threaten the very foundation of their relationship. Ethan and Brynne will have to fight harder than ever for each other. Rare and Precious Things is the story of two people who both need the other in order to be complete, but learn just how "rare" their brand of love is when they have to risk everything in order to hold onto it.

I sighed with need and forced myself to take a step backward, creating some distance between our bodies. My arm stretched out as I slid back, my hand still clasped in his much bigger one. “Okay…how does this room in fifteen minutes sound?” I stepped backward again, moving closer toward the bathroom door, my eyes never leaving his blues as they tracked my movements.

Those same beautiful blue eyes also glittered at me with all the shuttered heat of a man who would be ravishing me very soon. He allowed my hand to be released from his grip, the heat of his skin noticeably absent the second contact was lost.

He gave me the serious Ethan-stare, the one I’d seen many times and was well familiar with by now—the one raw with male prowess…and the overpowering sexual dominance that made me burn. “Like fifteen minutes too fucking long, my beauty.”

I had to suppress the slight moan that escaped my throat at the effect his words had on me. I was just a mortal woman after all. Ethan was the one that looked and acted like a Greek god to me.

He seared me with another look dripping with the promise of the molten sex to come, before turning away, walking through the door, and closing it with a soft click.

Once he was out, the room was instantly quiet and I felt more than a little bereft without him. I just stood there and absorbed the reality of where I was in the moment. I’m getting ready to make love with my husband. That idea jolted me out of my stupor and sprung me into action pretty fast.

I fled for the bathroom and worked myself out of my dress, which gratefully was not difficult at all with its easy access placement of a side zip. I hung it up carefully on the boudoir hanger that had been arranged, for what I assumed, especially that purpose. I would have to remember to do something nice for Hannah. She’d thought of everything.

I set my veil aside while I brushed my teeth and drank a glass of water. I stripped out of my lingerie except for stockings and garter belt in pale lavender silk, and looked at my side profile in the mirror. I had a bump. Not much of one yet, but it was definitely there. I gave our sweet little peach a caress and reached for my veil again. I reattached it and stepped back out into the bedroom. I climbed up onto the raised bed and sank down into the downy softness of the duvet on my knees. I was careful to arrange myself with my back facing the same door Ethan had used when he left the room. He would pass through it again when he returned, and I wanted him to have a first vision of me as I’d planned it out in my head. I was ready even though my heart was racing.

I closed my eyes.

And waited for Ethan to come to me.
✤ ✤ ✤

The sounds of the door opening and then closing told me when he was back in the room.

I sensed him staring and the idea gave me a rushing thrill to know what he was seeing of me. I turned my head and found him with my eyes.

“I just want to look at you for a moment,” he said, remaining still, a few feet away. I could tell he was affected by the hooded eyes and the set of his jaw, and that knowledge emboldened me.

“Only if I can do the same.”

My Ethan had prepared for me as well. The beautiful tuxedo with the purple brocade vest had gone the way of my wedding dress probably. In its place just one garment. Silky black pajama bottoms slung low at his waist. The contrast of the black fabric to his skin displayed his golden muscled chest and carved abdomen to perfection. And I got to drink him in. The muscular cuts which tapered into a spectacular V below his waist made my mouth water, forcing me to swallow. One of the most beautiful parts of my man. I needed my mouth there.

So gorgeously made in body, so full of male power and strength…it almost hurt to look at him sometimes.

I lowered my eyes to the side.

“Turn all the way around.”

The deep command of his voice heated me instantly, rendering me completely enslaved to his unrelenting dominance when it came to this part of us. Ethan’s control of our sex. His control over me. It made me hotter than hell.

He stepped closer, his body radiating power and desire as he waited for me to comply with his directive.

I rotated my body until I was facing him full on, my body completely bare except for my stockings and my wedding veil. I set my hands flat on the bed and made my arms straight, in effect thrusting my breasts up and out. They tingled under his intense perusal, my now ultra-sensitive nipples hardening with a lick of awareness suggestive of pain. My gesture of offering myself to my husband as a bride on our wedding night had aroused me to an incredible level of anticipation.

“Just for you,” I said softly, lifting my eyes to his.

I saw the muscles of his neck tense as he moved forward. “Baby…you are so sexy-beautiful right now. Don’t move. Just stay as you are and let me touch you.”

I knew how this game played out. The one where I was blissfully rewarded for following directions. The edge of the mattress dipped as he joined me on the massive bed, kneeling right before me, so close I could feel the radiating heat his body was throwing off.

I remained still, but I tensed in anticipation of what he would do first.

He hung there before me, for a moment, just studying me, claiming my body with his eyes at first. Ethan liked a splash of voyeurism in our encounters. A little kinky at times, and a lot dominant, but I was used to it with him.

Finally, after what felt like eons, he dropped his head to my sternum and inhaled deeply against my skin. Then I felt his tongue draw across the curve of one breast until he reached the tight bud of my nipple. He took the whole thing in his mouth and pulled it inside of him. I gasped in some air and steeled myself to remain still for his onslaught.

“Just feel, baby. Let me suck on your beautiful, perfect tits for a while. I’ve been starved for them.”

He took his time getting his fill as he worked me up with need.

Swirling his tongue in relentless circles over the tender flesh until he felt like giving me a rewarding jolt of sensation by clipping my nipple between his teeth for a gentle bite.

I shuddered against his mouth, desperately aching for more, but knowing I would have to wait until he gave it to me. Those were the rules. And I was always a good girl.

Raine Miller has been reading romance novels since she picked up that first Barbara Cartland book at the tender age of thirteen. And it's a safe bet she'll never stop, because now she writes them too! Granted Raine's stories are edgy enough to turn Ms. Cartland in her grave, but to her way of thinking, a hot, sexy hero never goes out of fashion. A part-time teacher and writer of sexy romance stories every other chance she gets pretty much fills her days. She has a handsome prince of a husband, and two brilliant sons to pull her back into the real world if the writing takes her too far away. Her sons know she likes to write stories, but gratefully have never asked to read any, thank God! Raine loves to hear from readers and to chat about the characters in her books.

Blog Tour for Spark by Jennifer Ryder

Not many people know, that I, Eevie Lawson, have a problem. An addiction. To Romance novels. I eat them for breakfast. I hide it the best I can, but I need them. To breathe. It’s how I cope.

I have a swag of book boyfriends, but now I’m free of the responsibility of caring for my three younger brothers, it’s time to find one in the flesh.

In real life, no girl meets their hero on page one, or even chapter one. I should know.

My journey is real. It’s not perfect, and it sure as hell isn’t easy. But the fight for something worthwhile never is.

Review by Gia:
This was a good read.  I had a little trouble getting into the story.  It didn't hook me from the start.  When I was reading it, I did skip to the end and read a little of the ending and the guy Eevie was talking about in the beginning of the book was not the same guy she was talking about in the end.  That's when I knew I had to go back and read the story because I really wanted to know how Aidan fit into the story.
Aidan is the perfect guy.  He definitely one to add to the boyfriend list.  You do have to read quite a bit before you get to Aidan and he's hotness but it's well worth the wait.
There are some crazy moments in the story where you will be like OMG.  I was surprised at some of the twists through in.  The ending is not a cliffhanger but there will be a second book called Spike.  There is a sneak peek of Spike at the end of Spark.  I can't wait to read more of Eevie and Aidan in Spike, I'm sure there will be some great twists and turns in it.
4 Amazeballs Stars!!!

Get to know you interview – Jennifer Ryder
  1. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
About eighteen months ago. I’d always been a big reader, but never thought I would write. Inspiration struck, and I couldn’t stop once I started putting the words down. ‘Spark’ became an obsession, festering inside, characters taunting me in my sleep, until I got it out!
  1. How long does it take you to write a book?

Spark took about 8 months to finish, but I wasn’t writing every day (as I also work full-time). Once I got further into the book I got more serious about it. I went to workshops and did online courses, such as ‘how to write a convincing male character’, ‘writing sizzling sex scenes’ and ‘showing not telling’.
Other books in the series, I have been able to finish a first draft within 6 weeks. It’s the editing and polishing that then takes the time, as well as incorporating any changes as a result of beta reader feedback (which might I add, is invaluable!).

  1. What is your work schedule like when you're writing?

I also work full-time, so I manage to get in an hour in the morning, while the kids are having breakfast and arguing over lost shoes, and squeeze in a couple of hours at night when everyone is asleep. Weekends I can spend a bit more time with my writing, but it’s never for long stints (unless hubbie is away fishing!).
When I’m in writing mode, I try and aim for 1K or more words a day, but if I’m getting along with my characters, I can manage a lot more. It all depends! Some days I can barely manage a couple of hundred, but it’s better than no words at all.
  1. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

Writing can be a lonely business, so I don’t know if the way I write is different to most people. I am happy to share with you something I find helpful. When doing the final edit, I find it easier to print out the MS. I grab a couple of different highlighters, and assign a colour to each character. I highlight each character’s dialogue and review one by one. It just makes sure that the way they speak is consistent, and not too similar to other characters. It also means I can give each character a few turns of phrase that only they use.

  1. How do you plan to publish? (self or publisher)

I plan to self-publish the Spark series, but I have other stand-alone books I’m working on which I may consider submitting to a publisher. At the moment, Indie publishing feels right for me. I’m surrounded by so many other supportive Indies, and with self-publishing I get more freedom.
  1. Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?

Personal experiences were a big source of inspiration for my first book, Spark, but anything can inspire me. After a girl’s weekend away in Melbourne recently, within a week I had a new book plotted out. It was an awesome weekend! A big day at the horse races, an Irish pub and shenanigans at night! Did I mention a sexy bar owner?
I also read a lot (at least 2 books a month), and have a few favourite TV shows. Right now I’m hooked on Chicago Fire, but my favourites are Revenge, Grey’s Anatomy and Arrow. And a warning to friends and family… I listen intently to everything you say! Where else do I get inspiration for my dialogue!

  1. When did you write your first book and how old were you?

That would be giving away my age! I started writing Spark eighteen months ago, and I’m in my dirty thirties!

  1. What do you like to do when you're not writing?

Read! My Amazon library is bursting with so many good books, and quite it helps motivate me in my writing. It also helps when I’m a bit burnt out. I’ve completed a couple of 50K in 30 day challenges (like NaNoWriMo), and they have been tough! After doing one of these, I have to take a break otherwise I’d go insane! This is where I take some time to relax, and nine times out of ten, turn to a good book.
Apart from reading, when we can we take the kids down the South Coast of New South Wales. Jervis Bay is a particular favourite spot. We also love to entertain, as we are big foodies!

  1. What does your family think of your writing?

My family are very supportive, although my mother understands that she may never read them! My seven year old daughter Ashlee is my biggest fan, telling anyone and everyone that I write books. It’s adorable, but she knows she has to wait until she’s eighteen to be able to read them!

  1. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

My own personal strength.
Writing is a mental (and physical) challenge, and giving up is SO easy. But when things get hard, you take a break, and come back and give it another go. Just finishing the draft of my first book was a huge accomplishment in itself. A lot of people start out, but never get to that point. The feeling of finishing it, was worth the late nights, tears and heartache! No really, I make it sound like it was torture, but it was just something I had to finish. I tend to be a person to start a hundred things and not follow through.

  1. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

Spark will be my first full length novel published, although I have written three in the series. They are all different, but I love them just the same.
I have had a short story published, having placed Third in the International Stringybark Erotic Short Fiction Award 2013. My story 'Heart Rate' is published in an anthology titled 'Valentine's Day'. I’m certainly attached to this story, as it was so flattering to have my writing recognised when I was only relatively new at it.
  1. Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?

Plan to write every day. Even if it’s only 100 words. I know it’s not always practical, but if you keep your head in the story every day, the words come easier, and of course, typing ‘the end’ on your MS happens that much quicker.
Another tip is not to self-edit when you’re writing your first draft. Even if you think your writing is complete drivel. The idea is to let the words flow while you have the inspiration, and not get bogged down with commas, and formatting, etc. That slows you down, when you’ll be editing down the track anyway. So gag and tie-up that inner editor until it’s time to edit! Then let her haver her way.
  1. Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?

I had a great response from the short story ‘Heart Rate’. Readers loved that I could tell a story with just 2,000 words, and also wet their appetites! It was certainly a challenge with such a small word count, and I love the story. Oh, the steamy things that happen behind closed doors in offices.

  1. Do you like to create books for adults?

Absolutely! I get a real kick out of people reading my work!
  1. What do you think makes a good story?

Relatable characters, a unique storyline and a good flowing writing style. I love a book that you can’t put down (the pacing is just right), and you don’t care that time passes by, because you are inside the book! This kind of book tends to give you a book hangover, but it’s worth it, every time.

  1. As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
A hairdresser, a panel beater and a police officer. I really couldn’t make up my mind! As a child I did have a vivid imagination, which got me into plenty of trouble. I was good at telling stories!

The more time Brynlee spends with them, the harder it becomes for her to make a decision. Ultimately, who will she give her heart to? Will the man Brynlee chooses want it after all they’ve been through?

For mature audiences due to explicit sexual scenes and language.

Review by Gia:
I'm Holding On is an amazing read. It's a drop everything and read now book. It has a love triangle between Brynlee, Drew, and Ian.  I much as I want love triangles to end with all three are happy you know in the end that only two will be happy.  What makes this love triangle stand out from all the rest that this story is told in three POVs.  We get Brynlee, Drew, and Ian's side of the story.  It's absolutely fantastic.  I loved that we get everyone prescptives in one book.
The characters are wonderfully written, I instantly fell in love with them.  Ian and Drew are the perfect boyfriends.  When reading my heart ached for Brynlee because I knew she would have to pick one of these beautiful charcter to more forward with.  Brynlee is a strong charcter.  In my eyes what made her charceter really great was that even though she was dating both Drew and Ian she was not having sex with either of them until she decided who she really loved.
I won't tell you who she ended up with and the end but you will noit be able to help yourself from feeling happey for them and sad for who she didn't pick.  I honestly didn't know eho she would pick until she actually pick one.
I'm Holding On is a great read.  I would definitely recommend it.

Her muscles seized under his hot grasp. “Let me go,” she whispered through gritted teeth. “Let yourself go.” She met his gaze expecting anger to swirl around his eyes as well, but his face was relaxed—a stark contrast to the tight grip he had on her wrist. “What do you want?” As soon as she stopped trying to pull away, he loosened her grip. He turned his hand over so that it rested palm up on the table. “A nice evening out with you.” “And after that?” “I like you, Lena. And, I suspect there’s far more to you than you’re willing to accept.” She folded her arms across her chest, making sure he wouldn’t have the opportunity to grab her again. “I’m sure you say that to all the girls you pick up at sports bars.” His eyes widened, but he still didn’t move his hand from where it stretched across the table toward her in an invitation. “Now that you mention it, I do.” Lena’s jaw dropped. It wasn’t that she expected him to deny it, but an outright admission was even more disturbing. “You’re the first,” he clarified. “I don’t buy that.” Eric shrugged, “Believe it or not, I don’t usually pick up girls at bars.” “Then where do you usually pick them up?” Eric’s smile widened, and he rubbed his lips together. “Most of the girls I’ve dated I either met through mutual friends or at BDSM clubs.” Lena’s breath echoed in her ears, and she wondered if she heard him wrong. The roar drowned out any thought to move or respond. “I didn’t expect it to freak you out that much.”

Review by Gia:
Bound and Unbroken is a good read!  There is a disclaimer in the front of the book.  It says "This book contains explicit sexual content (including BDSM themes), graphic language, and situations that some may find objectionable: M/F anal play and sex, bondage, spanking, exhibitionism.  In addition to the content mentioned above, there are scenes that deal with self-harm and discussion of previous sexual assault.  If you have difficulty with any of these subjects, proceed with caution."  There are a lot of heavy issues dealt with in this book.    I was a little scared to read it after that warning but the issues mentioned in the warning are dealt in such a way that the flow with the content of the story perfectly.
The loved Lena and Eric's story.  The book is told in both Lena and Eric's POV.  I am a bid fan of dual POVs because then you get both characters' perspective.  I did find Eric's character to be a little on the creepy side at first but after getting more background on him, I grew to love him.
There are a lot of things that happen is this story.  Even after reading the disclaimer, I was still surprised by some of the things that happen.   Skye Callahan writes in such a detailed way that I could play the scenes out in the head like I was watching a movie.

Skye Callahan has been coming up with stories for as long as she can remember, and by elementary school she was writing them down to share with friends and teachers. Ghosts and vampires were always her favorite beings to write about and those interests led to her debut novella Fractured Legacy in 2013. With Bound and Unbroken, her characters led her on a departure from the paranormal world and into the realm of BDSM romance. When she isn’t spending time with the voices in her head, she works to help other women design their own style of freedom as a consultant for Jamberry Nails, and spends time with her Husband and ferrets.
