Book 1 in the Sandy Plains Series
Breaking the
Barrier is the 1st book in my contemporary romance series set in
Outback Australia. Each book in this series can be read as a standalone as it
will deal with a different main character that lives in the small town of Sandy
Plains.
Breaking
the Barrier
While some people can’t wait to flee small town life in search for
something bigger and better, Jamie Jennings can’t think of anywhere else he’d
rather be. With a loving family and successful business, he thought he had it
all, that was until Elise blew into town and reminded him how good it felt to
fall in love.
Elise McKinnon is good at running and the ever present shadows she’s
been trying to dodge finally feel like their disappearing amongst the beautiful
red dust of outback Australia. But living in darkness has left Elise scarred,
and she protects her heart and son as fiercely as a wild mumma bear.
When their two worlds collide everything changes. Can Jamie break
through the barriers Elise has built around herself and convince her to stay in
Sandy Plains or will she continue to run, taking his heart with her?
Book 2 in the Sandy Plains Series
Breaking Away
is the 2nd book in my contemporary romance series set in Outback Australia and
Scotland, UK.
It’s due for
release early 2018.
Breaking
Away
Finally escaping her small town life in Sandy Plains,
Jemima Jennings is beyond excited to be headed to the other side of the world;
finally she can begin living. Will leaving everything and everyone she knows
and loves be everything she’s always dreamed or will Jemima discover that home
really is where the heart is?
Logan Mackenzie doesn’t have time for relationships or
love, with only six months left until he finishes his degree he’s 100% focused
and refuses to let anyone or anything distract him from that, including the
petite blonde that recently came bowling into his life. Can Logan keep his focus
or will all his well laid plans begin to crumble before his very eyes?
They’re complete opposites, but they say opposites
attract; can Logan and Jemima find common ground or is this relationship doomed
to fizzle out before it’s even begun?
About H.B. Butler:
H.
B. Butler grew up in and around the Gold Coast area of NSW, Australia. She
comes from a family with a passion for reading and has loved books from an
early age.
H. B. Butler has always had an over active imagination and often spent time imagining different stories up in her head. Eventually her brain was becoming too full with all of these made up stories and she decided to write one down for fun. Thus began the journey of 'Breaking the Barrier'.

After
having written her first 'novel', H. B. Butler put it away for about a year
where it remained hidden away on her computer. One day she was talking with
some friends and had mentioned the forgotten novel, her friends expressed an
interest and she shared her story with them. After they expressed an interest
in it she went back over the novel and tweaked things here and there in an
attempt to perfect her story.
Next came the journey of self-publishing. H. B. Butler went through all the motions of editing, cover designing and formatting with some truly talented people and here she is with a debut novel 'Breaking the Barrier' and several more ideas ready to go.

Interview With H.B. Butler:
This is my first
every author interview, so I’m a little nervous lol. Thank you to Amazeballs
Book Addicts for allowing me to be a part of their author take overs, I feel
incredibly humbled and excited to be a part of this along with all the other
amazing authors they have here.
1. Can you tell us a
little about your books?
Let me see, I write contemporary romance and for some reason small
country towns seem to be my thing at the moment (maybe because I live in a
small country town). I like trying to set my books in Australia, they say write
what you know and being an Australian this is what I know, although my second
book has already broken that rule.
Although my books are part of a series, they can be read as standalone
novels. Each book will focus on a different character from the town of Sandy
Plains.
2. When did you know you
wanted to write a book?
I distinctly remember telling my parents in primary school (around 5th
or 6th grade) that I was going to be either a writer, painter or a
teacher. Way back then I was writing stories, but it wasn’t until 2016 that I
actually sat down and wrote my first novel.
I sucked at painting, my day job is educating young children…so that
just left writing for me to tackle, and it’s been a fun ride so far J.
3. How did you choose
the genre you write in?
I love to read
romance novels and have a very active imagination so I think it was just
natural for my brain to steer me more towards that genre.
Fun fact: Breaking
the Barrier (my 1st novel) all came about on a drive up the coast. I
was stuck in traffic and my mind began to wander which then turned into the
prologue for Breaking the Barrier…after that the rest just flowed.
4. What book is your
newest release?
Breaking the Barrier
is my debut novel (and only release to date), but my second novel Breaking Away
is due out early 2018.
5. What is a usual
writing day like for you, how is it structured?
Structure haha,
that’s funny.
I try very hard to
structure my writing days, but always seem to fail. I work full-time at my day
job 38 hours a week so any writing time I have is usually squeezed in before or
after work. It’s very haphazard and unorganized.
I have a note book
that I jot ideas down in when they come to me, so that lives beside my computer
and when I get a chance to sit and write I refer to that…unless the characters
decide they would prefer to go in a different direction, then the notebook gets
ignored lol.
6. Do you have a
favorite spot to write?
I love to curl up in my recliner in the lounge room for the jotting down
of notes and things, nowhere special. I take my notebook everywhere though
(much to my partners disgust), even on holidays.
7. If you were a
super-hero, what powers would you have?
I would love to have
the power to time travel, then I could go back in time and experience the
different eras; it would help me with writing immensely lol.
Maybe I could even
find a way to save certain well known historical figures like Joan of Arc or
the Highland warriors at Culloden.
I’m a bit of a
history nerd so this super power is totally just all about me as opposed to
being for the good of the world, which I guess makes me a bad super hero oops.
8. What are writing
projects are you currently working on?
I am currently wrapping up Breaking Away and going through the motions
necessary to publish that one. I’ve just received it back from my betas so next
step is editing. I actually just had the cover reveal for that on my Facebook
page yesterday!
I’ve also started work in the 3rd book in that series (yet to
be named) and am having fun with that one.
Another HUGE thank
you to Amazeballs Book Addicts for allowing me to be a part of their author
take overs, and thank you to everyone that has taken the time to be here today.
I love to talk books (not
just mine) so feel free to drop me a line for a chat or visit my Facebook page
if you think my books may be something that would interest you J.
