Her comfortable new life is upended when widower, and ex-security-forces-turned-handyman hunk, Noah Tyler enters the local pub.

Noah attempts to avoid the voluptuous beauty who has captivated his every thought. That is, until his daughter vandalizes Sofia’s building and effectively seals their fate. After cutting his daughter a break, Sofia begins tearing down the walls he built after his wife’s death.

Excerpt

Noah felt the hair on the back of his neck rise before he even saw her. Her skin shimmered with sweat. A bright blue tank top hugged her breasts, short black athletic shorts clung to her curves, and bright blue sneakers covered her feet. The woman’s legs went on forever. He indulged in a brief fantasy of running his hands up those tan legs, hips, and up to her ample breasts. As his pants got tighter with a growing erection, he forced himself to turn and grab a drink of water.

For his sanity, Noah wanted to ignore her presence. Too bad he needed to speak to her. He couldn’t ignore what she was doing for Lexi. “Excuse me, Sofia?”

Hello, Noah.” She smiled and continued to the bottom step of the house’s porch.

Noah walked toward her. “Can I talk to you?”

Her eyes locked on his with discomfort, “Yes?”

When they were a few feet apart, her smell hit him hard. Her sweat had yet to mask the sweet smell of peaches. She wasn’t covered in the strong perfume smell so many women seemed to bathe in. He noticed she wore no makeup either. The woman was truly stunning. He placed his hands in his pockets and rocked back on his heels.

I wanted to thank you for what you’re doing for Lexi. You had every right to press charges, but I’m very grateful you didn’t. She’s a good kid…” He looked up at the second floor of his house, almost expecting to see Lexi standing at her window. “She’s just had a rough time, and I can’t snap her out it. I hope this close call does it.” He found himself wanting to tell Sofia more, but there was no point. Lexi would do her time with Sofia, and he would walk away with as little contact as possible.

Her head tilted to the side, Sofia’s knowing eyes pierced him. “Sounds like you both have been having a rough time.”

Her comment took him off guard. “Yes. No. Yes.” Noah struggled to breathe at the thought of how rough these last two years had been. When he looked at Sofia, he expected a confused look or even pity but not compassion. Yet her eyes sparkled when she gave him a small smile. Why did he always feel as if she was looking through him or reading his mind?

Interview With AJ Renee:

  1. Can you tell us a little about your book?
Widower’s Aura is set in a fictional town outside of New Orleans, Louisiana. The story follows Sofia after she moves to the small town and Noah is the newest face in town. They see each other one night at the local pub. Sofia is not only attracted to the sexy as sin man but can’t understand why her quirky gift of seeing auras is nonexistent with the tempting man.
Noah is shocked to find his body awaken to desire for the mysterious woman after years of not even a brief stir. He can’t afford any distractions from settling his daughter and himself in the small town. Unfortunately the frustrated and grieving daughter who is normally a good kid begins to rebel, bringing Sofia and Noah together. When Sofia becomes the victim of numerous vandalisms Noah steps up to protect the woman who’s wormed her way into his heart. He hopes he can do for her what he wasn’t able to do for his own wife. Keep her safe.
  1. Using one sentence can you describe Widower's Aura?
A sweet, small town romance with steamy sex scenes and a dash of paranormal.
  1. What inspires you to write?
The characters do. They become these living, breathing, humans in my mind and their story calls to me. I need to know who they are and where they are going as much as I hope my reader does. It’s almost a compulsion.
  1. Do you work with an outline, or just write?
I have a mental outline and I write notes as the ideas come but mostly I just write. I find myself laughing and crying as the words appear on the screen the same way I would if I picked up another authors novel.
  1. Do you have a favorite food or drink you must have nearby when writing?
I love Lipton’s Jasmine, Orange and Passionfruit tea. It relaxes me and I love to pop a few squares of dark chocolate in my mouth. If it has caramel in the center even better!
  1. What was the last book you read?
The last book I finished was Cassie Alexander’s Resisting the Biker. I just started part two, Surviving the Biker.
  1. What writing projects are you currently working on?
I’m currently editing book two of my St. Fleur series, Always Mine. It follows Lindsey and Marc, best friends to Sofia and Noah. I’m also just over halfway complete with book 3 and I created a short story a couple months back that I NEED to extend. Dylan and Andi, the short story, are calling to me daily to return to them but I need to focus on the others first.
