"A soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks."
-Richard Bach

The life I once dreamed about has been washed away in a sea of regret. People from my past are appearing in my present, hoping to remain in my future. Each day I draw strength from my history.

I have to learn to live again, to have hope again and to love again.
She wants me to trust him. He wants another chance. I just want the strength to move on with my new life.

All I have to do now is take my hands off the safety bars... and have a little faith.

Love Resisted – Snippet.

I shake my head smiling and look at the other missed calls. Saul, Eric and work. I groan. Work first, I guess. Finding my agent Sharon’s number, it’s answered on the second ring, unfortunately by her assistant Carlie.
Carlie doesn’t like me. Carlie, actually, hates me. I think she’d be happy if I were to be attacked and eaten by rabid seagulls.
Carlie had a thing for Dane.
Dane didn’t have a thing for Carlie.
Then Dane had a thing with me…hence why Carlie doesn’t like me.
“Sophia, sweetie, how are you?” she says in a fake voice. I pull the phone away from my ear and give it a dirty look. Like she cares how I am. When I put it back to my ear, she proves she doesn’t really care as she’s already onto her next sentence.
“…And it starts at nine,” she finishes.
“Errrm, can you repeat that I missed it.”
“Sophia, you need to pay attention. I’m busy, we all have things to do to make sure beautiful models like you have work coming in.” I roll my eyes. Everything she says makes me want to tell her to shove it up her whizz-wazz. It doesn’t help that she like them all in this industry also insists on calling me Sophia.
“Just repeat what you said,” I return bluntly. I’m not in the mood to deal with her tantrums today especially as the dream is still clinging to my chest.
She huffs then slowly repeats what she had said. “There’s a fashion show next Friday night. It’s a new designer and its short notice. I know you don’t usually like runway stuff, but as it’s in London and you have nothing else on, I thought I’d sign you up. The venue is The Design Museum. Next Friday at nine!”
I roll my eyes at her comment about me having nothing else to do. That’s so typical of her, she assumes if I have no work then I have nothing. Still, I could do with a distraction at the moment and runway stuff takes more of my concentration, because it’s not something I usually do. Avoiding it normally, because I don’t like everyone staring at me.
The more I think about it, the more I wonder why I’m still a model.
I shake my head and answer, “Okay Carlie, I’ll do it.”
“Well, I should think so. You haven’t been offered any work for a week now, and you don’t seem interested in going to casting calls anymore either. You’re not getting any younger and new models are climbing the ranks all the time, you know?” she chides.
I laugh out loud.
“Why are you laughing? I wasn’t joking,” she splutters. “Don’t think for a second that I couldn’t talk to Sharon and get your arse fired. There are hundreds of girls willing to take your place, skinnier and younger.” I can hear the smirk in her voice.
I close my eyes and take a long breath through my nose, trying to compose myself. “I’m laughing because you talk shit. And before you get all excited and do something that may cause that stick to blow out of your arse, let me just say that it’s a good thing you talk shit. You’re supposed to. I mean, you basically sell a commodity. Unfortunately, that commodity happens to be people. I personally think you’d be better with something that doesn’t answer back, like maybe vibrators? You could sell vibrators, right Carlie? I mean you must have worn out a fair few over the years. I can’t imagine you’ve had time to fit in a real man, assuming there is one who would want to screw your stiff vajayjay.” I smirk to myself.
“Fuck you!” she shouts and puts the phone down. I smile.
My work here is done.

Love Renewed

Dane has only ever loved one woman in his whole life. Nova. When he lost her everything went dark, his mind, his soul, and his life. She was his light, his heart. A decade later fate plays a cruel joke bringing them back together, only to tear them apart again, when he realises she has no idea who he is. Now he has to battle, wage war, and bring grown men to their knees to get her back. The biggest fight he faces is turning away from the darkness and letting the light in.

All Libby Burchall remembers is a mediocre life, she’s just existed for over a decade. Scared of her history and confused about who she is, the safe path is the only one she’s travelled. When a face that she can’t remember breezes in from the past, calling her Nova and looking at her like she’s a ghost, it sets off a chain reaction of emotions that she can’t ever remember feeling before. Now she can’t stop seeing his eyes, hearing his voice, and being consumed by the dark, intense and insanely beautiful man that made her feel alive.

Two shattered halves of one soul. He wants her light to illuminate the never-ending darkness. She wants to run, but something keeps dragging her back.

Can they survive each other?

Love Renewed Snippet.

This is the third and final instalment in the Entwined Hearts Series. Go meet Dane and Nova ;-) (Buy links at the end)

Oh God, yes!”
I look down at the woman between my thighs and grimace. I just wanted a fuck. A release. Not her voice splitting my skull. She thinks it’s sexy. It’s not. While I bang into her over and over again I should be building up to the few seconds of pure bliss I need right now. Not thinking about how I should have gagged her.
Leaning forward over her, I slip my hand around her throat, watching as her slender neck disappears under my palm, positioning my thumb and forefinger on each side of her jaw, holding her in place. She automatically tilts her head back slightly and opens her mouth, but this time without sound. This is turning her on, which works for me because I wasn’t about to stop. I can feel her pulse through my hand and so squeeze my fingers, tightening on each thrust in. Her eyes widen and flick to the corner of my mouth then back to my eyes. I know what she sees. It’s what they all see…the only thing I allow.
Emptiness, darkness and cruelty.
They need to know. It’s who I am.
It’s who I’ll always be.
I finish up. Pulling myself out of her and out of the bed, her eyes snap open and she stares at me.
What are you doing?” she whines.
I look over at her while pulling my jeans on. “Going home.”
Well, you could stay?” she asks, with a smile. “We could do that again.” Her smile turns into a smirk
No thanks,” I reply. Mentally going over the list of things I had on me and making sure I’ve got them all before leaving.
You never come back.
Never.
Rule One—If you leave your phone, wallet, house keys, etcetera, you get new ones. New phone, new wallet—Fuck! You get a new house if you have to. But you never come back. Period.
She frowns at me, I can see her brain working. “Okay, do you want to meet up later this week?” She’s grasping at straws and is sounding desperate.
Not gonna happen. This was tonight. Just tonight. I told you when we were at the bar. This was a one-time deal. I fuck you. I leave.” My mouth twitches. “I’ve fucked you. Now I’m leaving.”
She scowls as my eyes land on my jacket.
You complete wanker!” she shouts.
Not sure what you expected?” I reply grabbing my jacket and heading to the bedroom door.
Well thanks for fucking me!” she clips angrily as I walk away.
I salute her. “Pleasure babe.” Then walk out of her bedroom and her life, and I go back to feeling the cold. In more ways than one.

Interview With Maria Macdonald:
  1. Can you tell us a little about your books?
The books I have released so far are contemporary romance. The Entwined Hearts series is set mainly in London. Its about a group of friends who are more like family and every book is about different characters, although throughout all characters feature heavily in the whole series.
Finally Unbroken is my upcoming book, due out in march. This is another contemporary romance. This time set in the US, the characters are slightly older (early 30's). It centres around Anabel, and her relationships, with her best friend and her first love, and it's also quite an emotional book.
The other book I'm currently writing, but is available on Wattpad is a YA Paranormal called Chrysalis. This is about a girl who finds out she has a brother she never knew, and the ability to kill someone, all in the same day :-)

2. Which book has been the most fun to write?
So far I think it would be a close call between Love Resisted (book 2 of the Entwined Hearts series) and Chrysalis.
Love Resisted because Soph (the lead heroine) is funny, and made me laugh a lot. Chrysalis because it allows my mind to go anywhere it takes me, without restrictions.

3. What inspires you to write?
Music. I can listen to a song for the first time and build a whole story in my head within the 3-4 minutes the song takes. It has to come naturally though, I don't listen to a song so I get a story idea, it's always a natural thing, and happens when I don't expect it to.

4. How did you choose the genre you write in?
I think I just write what I love, that's why I've branched out to YA Paranormal.

5.Do you have a favorite spot to write?
Unfortunately I always get stuck in the armchair with the laptop. I wish I had a beach outside and a deck overlooking, I can imagine that would be ace!

6. Do you work with an outline, or just write?
I just write. The most I have is a basic understanding of the character and any major early plotlines. Everything else happens as the story unfolds. I often have my beta's telling me - when they get to the end of a chapter I have sent them- they want to know what happens next, you will usually find my reply is - Me too!

7. When did you know you wanted to write a book?
I've always written, but about 18 months ago I knew I wanted to publish. I had already started Love Reflection so just continued until I was ready. It will be a year since I published that book on March 20th.

8. Are you attending any author book signing events this year?
I am attending both Cardiff (Cymraeg Bookathon Bash) and Dublin (Claddagh Author Event) as an author and Birmingham FBBF as a reader.

9. What are you working on next?
I will hopefully be finishing Chrysalis. Then I have a few projects to get started. I have one of three offshoot books from the Entwined Hearts series to start on and a YA book, which I have been waiting to start for a while now.
