Like most authors, my love affair with the written word started as a child with the books I read. Even today, I love to read almost as much as I love to write. My favorite stories are the ones that transport me, that bring me to places and introduce me to characters that leave me breathless...the ones that spark the fire of my imagination, allowing me to dream in the world of 'what if?'

I've always been a scribbler, and from the time I could write my name I've been making up stories. So it was no surprise when I earned degrees in both Journalism and Fine Art, but after working in the trenches of Madison Avenue as a Graphic Artist, I decided to do what I love most full time. Write.

In the meantime I am also a founding member and former President of The Paranormal Romance Guild, a not-for-profit organization for readers and authors of the genre...and when I'm not 'bichok' (but in a chair hands on keyboard), I'm spending time with my husband and our three kids, traveling to exciting, romantic places ...for inspiration, of course!

Interview With Marianne Morea:

Can you tell us a little about your books?

I’ve always been drawn to all things paranormal. Since I was child the idea of otherworldly powers and beings would set my imagination ablaze. My stories are woven through with that same awe, that same question mark of what if. I find that I can write in any genre: historical, contemporary, erotic romance, Teen/YA, etc. and have no problem, but paranormal elements always manage to creep in. I was taught to write what you love and what you know, so there you have it!

What is your most recently released book?

I’ve taken a break from my shifters and vampires and my historical thrillers to play with the angels and demons for a while! My new book, My Soul to Keep, will be released in ebook over the summer and debut in paperback at the Authors After Dark Convention in Atlanta, August 12^th—16^th.

My Soul to Keep is a departure from the standard apocalyptic and is instead a story of jealousy and revenge where celestials are given a taste of love human style…if you get my meaning. Of course, when you introduce human emotion to a realm unaccustomed to such a potent spectrum, all havoc breaks loose…especially when two of heaven’s princes want the same girl. War, banishment, vengeance and redemption all play a part in this fantasy, taking the reader on quite a journey!

For your series, do the books need to be read in order?

Aside from my newest upcoming release, I currently have two other series out: The Cursed by Blood saga, which is my Supernatural Thriller/Urban Fantasy series with six books released to date, and my Legend Series (upper teen historical thriller) with two books out and the third in outline, slated for release in early 2016.

Each book is written as a stand-alone, but to appreciate the detail and get the most out of the series and its characters it’s best to read them in the order written.

What inspires you to write?

Life. Every day in every way. All the people I meet, from those I’ve known all my life, to the person standing in line with me at the grocery store. Inspiration hits at the weirdest times, so I’ve learned to pay attention and recognize those gems my muse send my way. People are always surprised when I tell them many of my ideas come from nightmares. Not just dreams, but fully fledged nightmares. That’s why there’s violence in my stories and why then tend to be on the dark side. I’ve learned to wake myself up and change my dreams, to add humor and romance to chase away the bad. From there it all translates into a story.

When did you know you wanted to write a book?

I’ve always been in love with words. From as far back as middle school, I found that painting with words felt natural and right. I had journals upon journals of dreams and thoughts and snippets of stories, but I never thought it would become a career. I always thought I’d go to law school, especially since I have a flare for the dramatic! As it turned out I became a journalist and then got my masters in fine art for graphic design. But as everything in life, things come full circle and now I’m writing full time. But that’s karma for you.

Do you have a favorite spot to write?

I have a home office on the first floor of my house. It’s a small room with glass French doors that sometimes makes me feel like I’m an exhibit in the zoo, but it’s got everything I need at a hands reach and is my place of controlled chaos.

Do you have any “odd” writing habits?

Not really, but my two dogs like to sit on my feet while I’m at my desk, and the cat purrs louder the faster I type. It’s almost synergetic.

Do you listen to music while you write?No. I need quiet. Even music in the background bothers me unless it’s instrumental. Music is what I use to court the muse while I’m driving. I get the best inspiration at those times. It’s something about the motion and the road and the music that gets my characters talking. It also happens when I’m in the shower or at the beach. My muse likes the sound of rushing water.

Do you have any upcoming events such as book signings, speaking engagements, etc.?

I will be attending the Authors After Dark convention in Atlanta Georgia this coming August (12th—16^th) as a Featured Author! This year is especially exciting to be a part of this premiere reader/writer event as Sherrilyn Kenyon will be the Master of Ceremony and the VIP author of distinction at panel and two balls: The Tiara Ball and the Bump in the Night Ball.

I will have a featured author table at both balls as well as participate in six panels over the course of the event, plus I am a sponsor at the Paranormal Party highlighting my newest release! This is one packed with fun happening! Event coordinators have scheduled so much for readers to enjoy, providing ample face time with the authors they love to chat, hang out, celebrate…whatever…all before the culminating book signing on Saturday afternoon.
