Generations Apart

Generations Apart

by

Rules change from one generation to another. Advice given in a past time period may seem totally out of whack in present day society. Reconciling the two can be irritating at best. Fortunately, society fights these injustices and eventually rules are created to compensate for past wrongs. The reader will become absorbed in the character of Susan Lavoie whose idyllic life is shattered during her first year in college. We learn how evading the truth and keeping secrets can lead to frustration and heartache and can ultimately involve the whole family. Redemption does follow despite the electronic age and family discrepancies. Times change, families change, but ultimately, the conclusion highlights generational inconsistencies, while informing and satiating an individual’s thirst for knowledge and entertainment. In a surprising conclusion, readers will learn the importance of telling the truth and if integrity and justice will prevail.

Tragedy has no time limits."

“…for Susan, the secret she held for these many years still nagged at the back of her brain always threatening to reveal itself…”

“Both their mouths just seemed to fall against each other and each experienced their first ever passionate kiss that made their bodies tingle from their outer lips down to the deepest depths of their bodies…”

“Would John resent Susan not ever telling him these horrors that so preoccupied her mind?”

“He pondered how something so special between them could have slipped away when Susan’s notes from college rather abruptly stopped. Why did she ever stop writing?”

Where to Find Lucille Griswold:

Interview With Lucille Griswold:
Can you tell us a little about your books?

Each of my books is very different and not connected in any way.  One is about a man who does something extremely controversial.  One is about a woman whose young husband just died.  Another book involves a story of a woman who experiences something horrible when she is young and it nearly ruins her long lasting marriage.  All the stories are filled with multiple generations and age differences, and address many current issues in society.

Do you have a favorite character to write about?

I have no favorite because the characters in each book are so different from one another.  However, as I develop each character, I do immerse myself in their personalities.

When did you first know you wanted to write a book?

When I was in college studying histories of other women, I became interested very much in my own background and what made me the women I am today.  I examined my heritage and documented my findings in a Memoir called ‘Life Lived in Reverse’.

How did you choose the genre you write in?

I don't pick a particular genre, though there seems to be a pattern that most of my books happen to take place from the 1950's into present day society.  'My Story: Only God will be my Judge’, starts out by taking place from September 11, 2001 and continues on from there.  Usually something will make me think of a story line, and I just expand it from there.

Do you have a favorite spot to write?

I prefer to write on my desktop computer in my computer room.  Though, if I am out of that area and something comes to mind, I will jot it down on my iPhone or iPad.

Do you listen to music while you write?

I love music and dancing, but when I write I become so absorbed in what I am doing I choose to have quiet surroundings.  Also, I write late at night so I don't want to disturb other family members.

What's one random fact about yourself that you can share?

I love to eat - everything - well not bugs on Survivor.

What do you do when you are not writing?

I love to read, the arts, watch movies, spend time with friends and family (which usually involves eating out someplace) or outdoor BBQ's, the beach, going for walks with my spouse, playing the piano and dancing...I could go on.

What writing projects are you currently working on?

A novel about a woman executive who overcame great hardships to reach her high status in society.
