 Welcome Today's Featured Author

H.M. Shander!!

It All Began with a Wedding

Weddings in Vegas aren't real, are they?

If they are, Izabella's in serious trouble, and so is the future of her grandfather's pharmaceutical business.
She needs to track down her (gulp) husband and demand an annulment before the ink dries on the new ownership deal.
But Theo has stipulations of his own before he'll agree, and the clock's ticking.
In love and war, someone always loses.

About H.M.:
H.M. Shander is a USA TODAY bestselling author, and a hopeless romantic and lover of chocolate, coconut and a damn good cup of coffee. She is the author of The Courting of Charlotte Cooper duology, the award nominated Aurora MacIntyre Trilogy, the tantalizing The Ladies of Westside series and the bestselling series Accidentally in Love. She writes swoon-worthy, gentle beta heroes, in sweet or steamy storylines that all end with a happily ever after.

When not writing, she is a part-time librarian content to drive her children to the curling rink, the soccer pitch or any activity the kids are excited to be a part of. Happily married for twenty plus years, she believes she's married the sweetest man and the greatest inspiration for her heroes.

Interview with H.M. Shander:
1. Can you tell us a little about your books?
I am a USA Today bestselling romance author hailing from Canada. My novels feature swoony-worthy heroes (picture the nice guy next door type) and sassy yet independant heroines. While they are open-door books, the focus is on the sensuality of falling in love - so sweet, but with a strong hint of steam. Readers have mentioned how my characters feel like real people, with one reviewer describing it best: "it could have been a real life story of how your best friend fell in love with that good looking guy she met." I strive to make my characters real, and even unlikeable until you pull back their layers, just as people are in real life.

2. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
I've published twelve novels, and have seven more already written to be released over the next two years (thanks to lockdown, I was able to truly maximize my writing time!). However, as much as I would love to be able to pick a favourite, I just can't, and it's like asking me to pick my favourite child - LOL. Each book has something special in it - whether it be a best friend's quirk, or a setting that has meaning - so to me, they are all my favourites.

3. Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?
I have three full days devoted to the business of writing, and it usually ends up being the afternoons where I get the most words written, with a cup of coffee and a handful of jelly-bellys - my reward for hitting word count goals. Since I am a self-published author, I spend my mornings on the marketing and social media side of the business, connecting with readers and fans.

4. How do you come up with your character's names?
Sometimes the right name just comes to me, and other times, it gets changed a dozen times. In It All Began with a Wedding, for example, the heroine's name is Izabella, but she started out as a Caroline, and then became Samantha, but neither of those suited her personality. Then, one night, I was laying in bed and it hit me - Izabella. The Hero in Wedding was always Theo, and Theo & Izabella just sound right together.

5. If you could be friends with one of your characters, which one would you chose?
What a tough question, but I think it would be Audrina from Serving Up Devotion as she doesn't take shit from anyone, she believes in working hard, and her brother always came first in her life. But I could also be friends with Sean and Randy from Serving Up Innocence as they were based off two amazing people I know and love. Oh, and Gabe from Ask Me Again, since he was also based off a real person I adore.

6. Do you have a release day tradition?
Not, really, no. It's exciting to watch the sales climb, and be so grateful to the strangers who are wanting to read my book and are taking a chance on a virtually unknown author. It warms my heart and I am forever thankful to those readers who purchase one of my stories and fall in love with the characters I've created. Every single book sold is a gift to me, and I'm beyond blessed to be able to do what I love. My latest book - It All Began with a Wedding - just came out on September 15th, and it was a whirlwind of excitement.

7. If you had a superpower, what would it be?
To spread love and kindness, as there is too much anger and negativity in the world. I'd love for people to see the glass half-full, or to see the beauty in a sunrise, or the fresh scent that comes just before the rain.

8. What writing projects are you currently working on?
Coming up on January 15 is Whistler's Night a second chance romance between an estranged couple who find themselves stranded on top of a mountain during a power outage. Following that, I have a novella releasing in a boxed set titled A Lover's Masquerade. Coming out in the spring, I have a brand new series releasing - tentatively titled Cheshire Bay, and it takes place on the western coast of British Columbia.
