Interview With Kia:
- Can you tell us a little about your books?
Ranging
from Young Adult, Contemporary Romance, Erotica to my more recent work
of Paranormal Romance, Dystopian and Dark Fantasy. My best selling
series
is Token Huntress, a vampire romance and The Shadow Minds Journal, an
urban dark fantasy angel and demons romance. My new release, Mad Hatter
Vampire Prince is a prequel novella based on the Token Huntress series,
due for release October 5th.
- What inspires you to write?
I
started writing when I was an angsty teen at fifteen. I found it really
shaped me in being able to escape into a different realty and it
offered to
be my first serious goal and project and it’s shaped me into the woman I
am today ever since. I love telling the stories in my character voices
and manifesting their world according to how they describe it to me.
It’s a really amazing job and it just fulfils
me being able to write. So anything inspires me really, if it has some
relevance to my current project or maybe the spark of a new one.
- How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
To
date, I’ve written fifteen books, Mad Hatter Vampire Prince being book
fifteen. I love all of them for different reasons. So far my favourite
character
to have written is Vivian Lair. She can shift into seven different
demons so I find her character delightfully wicked but complex as she is
influenced by their personalities as well. It’s a challenge to write
and I love it.
- Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?
Currently
I’m focusing on rebranding my books. So not as much time to write as I
focus on marketing instead. However, usually I would have what I call
‘block out’ days or ‘bat cave’ weeks. Where I literally am in my room
or office for the entire day, typing away and writing 10-15k words. I
usually write massive chunks of my books during one big week because it
flows that way and when I’m tired I’ll find
myself focusing on something else so I can take minor break.
- If someone who hasn't read any of your books yet, which one would you suggest they read first?
Depending
on what genre’s their favourite. If they like Paranormal Romance I
would suggest Token Huntress. If they prefer something a little darker
and
edgier then I would suggest The Shadow Minds Journal.
- If you could be friends with one of your characters, which one would you choose?
Ooof
what a question! I absolutely love this! Hmm if I could be friends with
one of them it would be either Vivian Lair because she’s such a bold
and kick-ass
give’s no damn character OR Chase from Token Huntress because he’s so
goofy, sexy and fun!
- If your fairy godmother waved her wand and whisked you away to the location of your choice, which place would you choose.
Ooh
this is an interesting one! If in the real world, right now I’d love to
travel through Japan. It’s always been a dream of mine. If in one of my
fantasy
worlds... I’d have to say maybe Shabeah, the city in The Shadow Minds
Journal, but ONLY if I am a supernatural with power so I can protect
myself as well. If I went in as a human, it wouldn’t be so pretty for me
haha
- What writing projects are you currently working on?
I’m currently focusing on the fourth book, Token Darkness in the Token Huntress series.
