Interview with Carol Cassada
- Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m
a self-published, romance author from Virginia. I started my writing
journey in 2010, since then I’ve written 7 books, 6 of which are
part of a series. Soap operas are one of the biggest inspirations for
my books; in the Westmore series you’ll find lots of romance,
drama, and betrayal. Romance is the main genre I’m focusing on at
the moment, but down the line I’d like to experiment with other
genres.
- Can you tell us a little about your books?
As
I stated in the paragraph above, the Westmore series is inspired by
my love of soap operas. It’s a bit more dramatic; a majority of the
book focuses on the family saga and secrets, but there’s also
plenty of romance. My first book Going Home Again is not so dramatic
as Westmore. Going Home Again is a sweet, heartwarming story about
Rachel Mitchell who returns home following her mother’s death to
reconnect with her family and ex-boyfriend. It’s a story about
love, the importance of family and being happy with life.
- Of the The Greens, the Braxtons, and the Reynolds, which family is your favorite to write about?
I
love all the families. The Greens, I have to say I’m a bit partial
to them since the siblings are modeled after me and my brothers. The
Greens are a close-knit family, although they do have their
arguments, they never stop loving each other.
The
Braxtons are the most dramatic out of all of the families. They live
a life of luxury with mansions, private jets, and their billion
dollar company, but they’re not immune from family saga. Andrew,
the patriarch is the cause of most of the drama. He thinks he’s
doing right by his family, but all he does is control them and drive
them away.
The
Reynolds start off as close-knit family, but soon develop drama of
their own. The fighting starts when Stan disapproves of his son
dating Alicia Green because he feels she’s not the right woman for
his son. This leads to an estrangement between the two with Jacob’s
sister Laura playing the peacekeeper.
- Do you have any odd writing habits?
I
wouldn’t say I have any odd writing habits. The only habit I have
is turning on music to help get my energy going.
- Do you have a favorite spot to write?
I’ve
got my desk in my room and I like it back there because it’s
peaceful and I have my privacy. Although every once in a while I’ll
have someone in my family or one of my cats come in to get my
attention.
- When not writing or reading, what's your favorite thing to do?
I
love to spend time with my pets. I’ve got three dogs and two cats,
so you’ll find me out in the yard with them or playing with them in
the floor.
- What's one random fact about yourself that you can share?
I’m
a Nascar fan and I love Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne. Every weekend
I’ve got the race on, cheering for them.
- What writing projects are you currently working on?
I’m
currently working on volume 7 in the series which I plan to release
later this year. Aside from that I’ve got a few other projects
lined up that I’m itching to get into. I have a paranormal story
that I’ve been trying to finish and I’ve got another romance idea
I’d like to get started on.
