Goosebumps scattered her skin. Her entire experience with the opposite sex could fill a shot glass. Seduction was outside of her realm, and yet he made her feel sexy. Her body went tight as his lips found hers again, this time with more pressure. The spirals of pleasure racing through her weren’t a disappointment. Could things get any better? She tried to calm the excitement building, tried to reign in her emotions. Her insides were as hot as an inferno. Storm was big and powerful, and she wanted nothing more than to sink against him and go along with the ride.
She forgot she was holding her glass and it turned upside down, trickling water onto the floor. Storm took the glass from her and set it on the table next to the swing.
He folded his arms around her, strong and secure, and she didn’t resist. He was gentle, yet she could feel his need in the tense length of his body. She wanted to explore him, know every bend and toned dip of his body. She smoothed her hands up his broad shoulders, into his hair, enjoying the softness of it against her fingers. With every bit of control she had, she maintained herself, slowing her mind down to concentrate on experiencing this moment.
“Come here, sweetheart.” He lifted her across his lap and his bulging zipper rubbed her bottom.
Her secret parts throbbed and filled with heat. Come? Yes, she wanted to come. But the need burrowed deep in her wouldn’t be satisfied by her own fingers as she’d done over the years. Self-pleasure was the only way to stay emotionally detached, but all of the vibrators and toys in the world didn’t entice her like Storm.

Interview With Rhonda Lee Carver:
  1. Can you tell us a little about your books? 
    I have written 30 romance books ranging from western, paranormal, suspense and MC. I enjoy writing a balance of sexy and sweet. Second Chances. Flawed and speckled. I take real-life issues and tweak them into a story of perseverance, hope, compassion and, most importantly, love.
  1. Which book has been your favorite to write? 
    Second Chance Cowboy (Book 1, Second Chances) was my first book and will always have a special memory.
  1. For the Second Chance series, can they be read as standalones? 
    Yes, however, I do revisit the cowboys and their stories. Each character has been a side character from the previous book.
  1. What inspires you to write? 
    For me, I definitely have the need and drive within me to create stories, characters, happily-ever-after. The motivation and ideas come from external sources…a picture, a word, an action can spark an entire storyline. I believe the hardest part about writing is staying on the roller coaster for the entire ride. With each story there are ups and downs, curves and bends, that sometimes threaten to throw me off the train. I have to hold on tight and stay in until I write the end—not give up when I hit a wall (writer’s block) and start something new. All ideas are exciting and fresh at the beginning, just like life, we just have to keep it electrifying.
  1. Do you have a favorite spot to write? 
    I have a desk by a large window with lots of light flowing in. I like silence while I’m writing and disturbing me is a big no-no, which my kids have learned.
  1.  Do you work with an outline, or just write? 
    If I’m writing a series I will jot down names, settings, basic storylines (a sentence or two) and then jump right in. I always stumble away from my initial storyline anyway. At times, I don’t even know which path my story will take. My characters tend to take charge and surprise me.
  1. If  you could spend 24 hours as a fictional character, who would you chose? 
    I wouldn’t choose a character that’s already been written. I’d want to spend 24 hours as a heroine meeting and falling in love with a hero. What is more exceptional than all of the firsts—first eye contact, first kiss, first touch. And that first moment when we realize our heart is full of love. Wouldn’t life be grand if we could live a life with those first moment feelings?
  1. What's your favorite movie? 
    Leap Year, Pride & Prejudice, and many others.
  1. What are you working on next? 
    I’m working on Smoke, Fire, Cowboy (Book 3, Cowboys of Nirvana). Sofie’s husband cheated on her and divorced her. She finds herself at Nirvana, an R&R that guarantees guests will find inner peace and leave refreshed. Not to mention, the ranch hands are a woman’s dream. When she has a moment of sadness over the past, she ends up in bed with Jared, one of the hands that she not only dislikes, but he has a reputation that is despicable…and exciting. Yet, taming the cowboy might be the adventure she needs to forget the past once and for all.
