Featured Author: Jody Pardo

Welcome Today's Featured Author
Jody Pardo!!!

Mark Lyon was a beast in the boardroom. Building websites and branding corporations for success was his specialty, and he was good at it. Mark worked hard to earn his place at the top of his field. He let nothing stand in his way, not even Christmas.

Charity Clarke captured Mark's attention with her dirty mouth at first meeting, but her giving spirit stole his heart without notice. When she goes missing, will finding Charity be the gift with enough love and hope to save them both?

When a drunk truck driver claimed Lydia’s husband and son, her world shattered. The small town that once embraced her was now her personal hell. She made the decision to leave her hometown of Nazareth, Pennsylvania and move to Eastport, Maine, to start over in the last happy place she ever knew.

When the sea tried to claim Ryan, he was left a broken man. Starting over in a wheelchair was the last thing he expected to do. Ryan was born to be a lobster fisherman, not a buoy. When Lydia became his home care nurse, he never expected her to be the light at the end of his tunnel.

Will their broken hearts survive a second chance or will they remain locked in their cages?

Lobsters mate for life. Lobster love is forever.

Interview With Jody Pardo

1. Can you tell us a little about your books?
Forever was a collaborative work with Jennifer Tocheny. We both have medical backgrounds and were brainstorming one day about the trend of "Fad genres" and how we saw very little if any of very real situations. From that conversation Forever was born.

Finding Charity was supposed to be an Scrooge based anthology submission but life got in the way and I decided to self publish. I have 2 more books due out before the close of 2015: Love Under Construction and Screaming in the New Year (novella)

2. When did you know you wanted to write a book?
I have always loved to write. I used to write lots of poetry and editorial columns for both HS and College newspapers and publications. I never really considered publishing novels because the idea of traditional publishing and slim chances of ever making it to print were daunting. When I discovered the Indie Community, the love of reading and writing was re-ignited. I always thought you had to go through a publisher.

3. Where did you get the ideas for your books?

I pull ideas from everyday life. All my characters are very "real" and true-to-life. These are not gang members, billionaires or rockstars. They are people you may meet everyday at the mall, or at work or your neighbor's friend. I love to people watch and draw a lot of individual scenes from real scenarios and experiences.

4. Do you ever experience writer’s block?
I don't really experience writer's block. I experience not-enough-hours-in-the-day syndrome. Also, I am a little ADD, ok maybe a LOT ADD and I have lots of squirrel moments and the next thing you know the cabinets are organized and alphabetized but I haven't written a sentence.
5. Do you work with an outline, or just write?

Every author is different and I tend to have a whole story in my head, kinda like a basic outline of what's gonna go down and then I fill in the blanks. Also, I tend to write in "scenes" because I get these great scenes and write them down then work around them. So they say there are planners and then there are pantsers. I write by the seat of my pants...wherever the story takes me.

6. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
I write in my recliner. When I lived in NYC my fav place to write was on the sub.

7. Do you listen to music while you write?
I listen to "wordless" music. If I listen to songs with words I tend to start singing and then I end up typing whatever I am singing. I end up with a hot mess. So I listen to techno and electronica nice hard thumping pulse elevating music.

8. What do you do when you are not writing?
When I am not writing I am at my daughter's volleyball games, cooking, doing all that adult domestic stuff at home.

9. Are you attending any author author signings?

Yes I have MANY author signings on my schedule for the next year. The next place I will be is Spooktacular Book Bash in Houston TX on October 24th and then Rebels and Readers in WV in November. Then I am on a break until February where I have Book Splash Cruise, Houston Writers Con, and Pay It Forward Writers Retreat all in the month of February. A full list in on my author page and my website.
10. What writing projects are you currently working on?
I am currently working on Love Under Construction which is Book One in Love Under Series and Screaming in the New Year which is Novella Two in Romance for All Seasons series. Both are due out in 2015.
