Interview With Karen Tomlinson:
1. Can you tell us a little about your books?
The Goddess and the Guardians is a YA Fantasy series aimed at mature YA readers. It is an epic tale set in a world of Eight Magical Kingdoms. You will get to meet armoured winged fae warriors, discover romance, magnificent dragons and meet unforgettable characters who will make you laugh, cry and yell out loud. (Sometimes at me-so I’m told!) I love the characters in this series so much. Diamond is a seventeen year old girl whose world is turned upside down when she sees her home attacked by the Wraith Lord’s hunters. She soon discovers her life is not what she thought and has no choice but to learn how to survive. Then she meets Commander Hugo Casimir, an armoured winged warrior, who both saves her then puts her in grave danger. The series follows these two characters on their adventures across the Eight Kingdoms and into the lands of the Guardians and the Gods and the realm of Chaos, in a quest to save their world from destruction and slavery.
The series will be 4 books with a 5th, a prequel, to be released exclusive to the Wrath and Ruin SFF Boxset which releases on 2nd January 2018. Book 2 A Bond of Blood and Fire is available now and Book three will be released spring 2018.
2. What inspires you to write?
I absolutely love books! I love reading and I absolutely love to go on a journey with my characters. Although I have discovered I can’t write down everything that happens to them in my head. My word count is ALWAYS way too high. I have to content myself with a potted version sometimes. I always wanted to be a writer. I tried a few times when I was younger but as with most dreams real life got in the way and I concentrated instead on my nursing career and my twin girls. Although, they have to take credit for me revisiting this dream and pursuing it. I made up a bedtime story with a prince, a dragon, a brave fae warrior and a baddie….. 'Hmm… the beginning of a novel' I thought. And here we are…
3. How did you choose the genre you write in?
I adore fantasy in any form, books, films or music. It was easy for me to decide on this genre for my first series and to form the characters. I write what I love to read, I am not a write to market kind of author. I know I would struggle with that. I love books with romance too. I’m a bit of a softee and love to see the main characters get it together. Not saying they stay that way but hey ho…
4. What book is your newest release?
The second book in my series A Bond of Blood and Fire. It is available on Amazon and is in Kindle Unlimited.
5. What is a usual writing day like for you, how is it structured?
I’m afraid my life is so busy I can’t structure my writing. I still have to work full time and have a family and a dalmatian who all need my attention too. I write wherever and whenever I can but I write better to silence. I am not someone who can write with music blaring out, though funnily enough, I can write in coffee shops…I just zone everyone out.
6. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
I’m afraid not. I think that comes from writing whenever and wherever I get a moment.

7. If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?
Lol! Mind control!! You could do ANYTHING with that. It would be pointless me being able to fly-I hate heights!
8. What are writing projects are you currently working on?
I am working hard on trying to get book three A Bond of Sovereigns and Souls written and released. A Bond of Destiny and Dragons (the prequel) is in the editing phase and will be released in the #WaR set. Book 4 is in the planning stage.
