The Vista: Book 1 of The Wildblood

2047. Civilization destroyed itself two decades ago. Humanity struggles on.

Part of the first generation post-World War 3, Allen, MacKenzie, and Wade are Team Three, Vista Security's top officers. They know they are different, far beyond their training. Genetically Enhanced humans were outlawed long before they were born. It's what they believe they are, the secret they try to contain.

Problem is, there's something out there, just beyond The Vista, watching them.

As Vista Security, they're sworn to protect; as Security Command, Team Three may be forced to break those oaths to save everything they've ever known.

The Vista: Book 1 of The Wildblood takes place in the near-future where the Earth has been mostly emptied of humans by a short and devastating war. Venturing beyond the safety of their valley may be the best move Security has ever made; it's absolutely the most dangerous

Backlash - prequel to The Wildblood

Before Team Three became Team Three, there was The Blackout.

Vista Security is used to the feral bands of human wandering the landscape since a brief and devastating war wiped away civilization. Sixteen years later, they've adapted to dealing with the challenges facing their safe haven.

That is, until a new threat appears, one they never expected and one they have little defense against. Security throws in everything they can muster; it quickly takes a toll. Their advantage - an untested team of officers barely more than children themselves; officers with dark secrets and a hidden agenda.

In a free-for-all battle to preserve one of the last sanctuaries of man, Team Three discovers their secrets are their strength and that their future will take them far beyond what they've ever known.

Action, a bit of romance and a good splash of sci-fi set the scene for Backlash, the prequel novella of The Wildblood series.

Hunter's Moon - An Urban Mythos Novella

Lyra Alexander considers herself an archeologist, a job that normally wouldn't be very dramatic or dangerous. The problem with her job, however, is that she studies vampires. And they aren't too keen on being studied.

In this world, there are all kinds of creatures prowling in the night . . . Humans are no longer at the top of the food chain.

About S. A. Hoag

I knew before I got to high school that I wanted to write books.  I did, too, dozens of short stories I thought someday I’d turn into novels.  Oh, how I wish I had those spiral notebooks full of wild ideas and teenage musings.
I still have the ideas from many of those stories – some of  them make me cringe.  There are always new ideas too. Some are amazing, some are just silly. A few will become something more as I add books to my list of those that are published.
For now, I live in the desert and many nights, in between writing and sleep, you can find me out watching the stars.  It’s dark, out here in the desert and I can see so many stars that weren’t there before.  I make time to write now.   The tiny seeds of stories demand that I write them down.
I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy creating them.

Interview With S.A. Hoag:

1. Can you tell us a little about your book?
You bet I can!  I talk about my books all the time and people around me are probably getting tired of hearing about them.  A new audience is awesome.  I started writing in elementary school and started writing seriously after high school.  Real Life got me all tangled up, and its only been the past few years I've taken to seriously writing again.  The Internet is an amazing thing, just for allowing indie writers to get out there.

My books are a varied lot.  My first series, The Wildblood, is a post-apocalyptic bit, not so much about the original survivors, but about their children, and the misconceptions they carry with them.  It's some action, adventure, sci-fi, and there's sex and romance, because that's what people do.  The series has The Vista: Book 1 of The Wildblood and the prequel, Backlash, already out as eBooks.  Renegades: Book 2 of The Wildblood will be released later this year.

In the meantime, I'm releasing an Urban Mythos novella, Hunter's Moon, on April 28.  These are standalone books about whatever urban myth catches my attention at the time.  Hunter's Moon has vampires and shapeshifters, among other things.

2. What inspires you to write?

Music, bits of an interesting conversation, a moment caught in time, Mother Nature doing something awe-inspiring.  I never suspect where the next plot will come from.

3. Do you work with an outline, or just write?

I try to start with a rough outline, a few ideas what I want in the story, and where I think it might go.  My characters usually have their own ideas, and so far, so good.

4. Do you have a favorite spot to write?

I have a corner my desk is shoved in, and it seems to be my best place to hide from the world and write.

5. Do you have a favorite food or drink you must have nearby when writing?

Coffee.

6.  Do you listen to music while you write?

Absolutely.  My first novel had its own playlist and the second one is developing.  Besides that, there is music, lots of it, of no particular kind.  My playlist is a conglomeration.

7.  What is your favorite thing to do when you're not writing?

Lily is my favorite thing right now.  She's 2 and adorable.  I also have a giant telescope and look at the stars many clear nights.  I can't wait to show Lily how that works.

8.  What are you working on next?

Renegades Book 2 of The Wildblood is being written right now.  The odd thing is, Book 3 of the series is, too.  I have a folder of scenes that are popping up.  Book 3 isn't going to take me a year to write.  Most of it will be waiting for me, as soon as 2 is out.  After that, we'll see.  I have years of ideas to pick from.
