About Kacey Hamford:
About us…
We are two thirty-something females, living in Cornwall, England.
We both have full time jobs and manage to squeeze writing in around very busy lives.
Last year we joked about writing a book, and in December we actually started writing! On 12th March 2014 we pressed the ‘publish’ button and didn’t breathe for a whole several minutes!
We have now written four books, ‘Rocking Esme’, ‘Rocking Scarlett’, ‘Rocking Marcy’ and ‘Rocking Ashton’ and we also have a million other book ideas which we are dying to write!
When we first started writing, we didn’t tell anyone- not even our other halves! We decided to tell them about a month before publishing, then about a week before publishing we told our friends and family.
We both love reading, and since buying Kindles, reading has become much more of an obsession and we have both discovered authors we had never heard of. Some favourites are… Jennifer Foor, Aurora Rose Reynolds, Kirsty Moseley, Kelly Elliot, Terri Anne Browning, Diane Chamberlain… the list is endless!
Interview With Kacey Hamford:
1) Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Kacey Hamford is a pen name for me (Kelly) and my friend Claire. We live in Cornwall, UK. We were joking around last year about writing a book and we decided to do it. We told no-one we were doing it, not even our other halves. We were nervous, in case the books didn’t sell. I do the majority of the writing and Claire is the editor and helps out if I get stuck for ideas. We work well together. We love to read and both have full time jobs.
2) Do you have a favorite spot to write?
We tend to do a lot of our writing sitting on the sofa or at the dining table, somewhere we don’t get distracted very easily, not very interesting I’m afraid.
3) Do you have any odd writing habits?
When I began writing book 1, I had so many ideas that I just wrote the chapters with the main ideas. So everything was out of sync and we spent a lot of time having to write fill in chapters. I have been trying to get out of that habit now. It doesn’t happen as much now.
4) Are you doing any author signing events this year?
Not as authors we aren’t. But we are going to The Book Affair in London april 2015, as fans. We are very excited to meet the authors that inspired us to write.
5) What is the hardest scene you have ever written?
Esme’s attack in Rocking Esme (book 1) It wasn’t easy writing about someone being almost raped with enough detail to set the scene but not too much detail so it wasn’t unpleasant to read.
6) When did you know you wanted to write a book?
We joked about writing a book last November/December and I sent a few paragraphs to Claire as a joke and she loved it. That’s when it all took off.
7) What's one random fact about yourself that you can share?
I’m (Kelly) a dog groomer and Claire is a school teacher.
8) What’s your favorite outside activity?
Claire and I try to get together a couple Friday nights a month in the pub for what we call ‘Book Club’ We talk about the sexy book covers and discuss the books we are reading.
9) Do you have a favorite character to write about?
My favourite character from the start has always been Marcy. So I loved writing her book, (book 3) she is feisty and was fun to write about.
10) What project are you working on now?
We have just released book 4 in the rocking series, there are more to come in the series but probably not until next year. I am currently working on a young adult book and we have loads of ideas for several books in the future including a book set in Cornwall, UK. About four girls with a different genre than what we usually write.
