Interview With Megan Hetherington:
1. Can you tell us a little about your books?
I
write steamy contemporary romance and because of my age (yes I’m a
child of the seventies), they appeal most to women who appreciate a bit
of nostalgia or romance situations where women are not still at college.
So to explain more, my first two books, ‘Falling for His Angel’ and
‘Loving His Angel’ are set in the eighties and feature a wannabe rock
guitarist and the infatuation he has for a more experienced and
independent Dutch rock singer. My third, ‘Into The Light’ has just been
released and is about Rosa who falls apart when she finds out her
husband is cheating on her and finds love again with an enigmatic but
completely drool worthy new lover.
2. What inspires you to write?
I’m
inspired by the opportunity to escape reality, and while reading does
that as well, writing is a deeper more fantasy driven escape for me.
3. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
Four
in total. Three are full length and one is a novella. The most fun to
write was the novella and I think it shows in the reader experience,
many commenting how much they enjoyed the humour and escapism of it. The
story that I always had in mind was my most recent ‘Into The Light’ and
I felt the most satisfaction with telling that story.
4. Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?
My
day usually starts with seeing my husband and kids off to work and then
once the house is quiet I write, and sometimes that can be for an hour
sometimes several. Then I interact with readers on social media and
complete any of the marketing and admin tasks.
5. Do you have a favorite food or drink you must have nearby when writing?
I
always need a drink, and because I have to limit coffee to two or three
a day, it is usually water. I don’t eat while I’m writing because I
don’t think I would stop!
6. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
I
love to write in the garden, but that just isn’t always possible so I
take my laptop anywhere that is quiet in the house and generally tend to
follow the sun around from room to room.
7. If you had a superpower, what would it be?
Now
this is hard. But I think I would like to be able to slow down time. I
just don’t know where the hours go every day and Friday just comes
around so quick!
8. What are writing projects are you currently working on?
I’m
currently writing two books. The first is ‘Pump it Up’, a light hearted
romance about a celebrity fitness instructor and the second is much
darker, ‘Bad Ink”. I alternate between the two depending on the mood I’m
in. At the moment ‘Pump it Up’ is winning and should be released in the
New Year.
