Interview With T.J. Spade:

1. Can you tell us a little about your books?

The Everett Files is a crime fiction series following the cases of main character, Caleb Everett. Caleb isn't a profiler or a cop ... he's a psychic. Book one has a little bit of background on Caleb as a teenager - he becomes conspicuous at the scene of a homicide and provides detective Jack Rafferty with some intel which leads Jack to believe he may be a suspect. Fast-forward a bit and Caleb is 32 years old and still working alongside Homicide Detective Jack Rafferty to get inside the minds of killers and hunt them down. There is a sexy love interest in the form of skeptical journalist Makayla, and a lot of fast-paced action.

2.     How did you choose the genre you write in?

I've always read a lot of crime novels and detective series. Once I picked up a pen I didn't consider writing anything else.

3.     What was the hardest scene you have ever written?

I can't think of a stand-out scene that was difficult to write, but I can tell you that the easiest scenes to write are those from the murderer's perspective (don't ask me why, because I do not have homicidal tendencies!)

4.     If your book were made into a movie, who do you picture playing each character's part?

I think Matt Bomer (White Collar) would make an excellent Caleb! Jack has been likened to Gibbs from NCIS, and Makayla has a Rachel Bilson (Hart of Dixie) vibe.

5.     Do you work with an outline, or just write?

Oh, I have an outline, and my outline has its own outline! I do a lot of research for each novel (lots of hours surfing the Dark Web ... if you need a hit-man come talk to me). That said, the work always evolves a bit on its own and I just have to roll with that.

6.     Do you have a favorite spot to write?

I write at my dining table (boring, but true).

7.     Do you have a favorite food or drink you must have nearby when writing?

Coffee! Plenty of coffee!

8.     What are writing projects are you currently working on?

At the moment I'm writing 'Take You Home - The Everett Files Book 3' and I hope to have this released by the end of the year. I am super pumped for everyone to read it!
