Enough Isn't Everything (Everything Trilogy Book 1)

Lily’s friends in London regard her as having the whole package. Smart, beautiful, and musically talented, she’s finally realised her dream to study in the USA, by securing a music place at college in Miami. She regards herself as worldly, having lived the London life and travelled to Mumbai to work in an orphanage in the past, so felt more than able to cope with living and studying abroad.
On arrival in Florida, everything on the surface seems to be running to plan. That is, until a chance encounter on campus with a stunningly handsome, charismatic, rock-god-like musician, Alfie, leads her into a no-strings sexual relationship with him. Until she arrived in the USA, Lily had tried to avoid personal relationships with the opposite sex, not wanting anything to affect her plans. She was sexually naïve but after meeting Alfie, she convinces herself she’s able to deal with what Alfie is offering her. What follows takes Lily on a roller coaster of emotions and after a surprise visit from Max, her friend and roommate’s brother it leaves her questioning her morals.
At college Lily quickly teams up with Will, a handsome sax player, who helps her develop her creative ideas and performs with her as a duo in the Miami music scene. A series of bad choices in her relationships with Alfie, Max and Will, create emotional turmoil for Lily which leaves her doubting her judgment about men. Each of the three men has a special place in her heart for different reasons. She realises that she’s no match for Alfie and tries to resist his attention. He’s told her he can’t love her, but wants to be with her physically, arguing, sex between them is enough. The reality for Lily is she knows enough isn’t everything.

Everything She Needs (The Everything Trilogy Book 2)

Lily’s back on her home turf in London for Christmas, after a turbulent term, studying music in Miami. She wonders if her relationship with Will can survive their stupidity and what this means for their music collaboration. Lily realises all too late, that she’s fallen hard for Alfie despite his declaration to her that he can’t love her. This has left Lily devastated, knowing that the man she loves will never feel the same for her. Meanwhile, Alfie has continued his relentless pursuit of Lily to take what he wants from her, testing her resolve not to continue their relationship. She had found the strength to resist all of his advances, until the night before she flew home. After giving herself one last night with him, she fled across the Atlantic, thinking time and distance with family and friends would help heal her broken heart. What Lily never expected, was for her traumatic love life to follow her, both to London and Miami through the chapters of her life, during the following year. Her music career and studies improve tremendously though, fuelling her performance and personal identity, but her love life is as complex as ever. Alfie makes some disclosures which could be game changers for the both of them, and asks for her trust and time. Lily wonders if she should trust him, asking herself if Alfie could ever be, everything she needs?

Although, Lily's mind is still plagued with memories of Alfie, which continues to impact on her to such an extent, Lily has been unable to form new romantic ties. Professionally, her relationships couldn't be better. She is offered some amazing opportunities rarely available, and is determined to do make the most of them. This is especially important to her, given the sacrifices she has made in the past to do this.

Ticking most of the boxes required as the lead singer in a band, the last part of the equation many not have mattered much. However, Alfie is an incredibly, talented singer and musician. Women want Alfie. Men want to be Alfie.
So gifted , Alfie is given opportunities to progress both as an artiste, with his band Crakt Soundzz, but also share to his passion and pass his knowledge on to others at music college. Circumstances in the background dictate what he needs. And what he is willing to accept. This is something he isn’t willing to compromise on. Neither of them, despite all of their combined attributes are equipped to deal with. Alfie is emotionally locked down, both from past experiences and his current situation. Only one person ever made Gibson feel uncomfortable about the way he lived his life. No one ever said no to him that he can remember, although there were two minute events that he has never been able to shake from his mind.
Both of those events involved the way Chloe Jenner looked at him. It was something and nothing, but for him, the impact haunted him. In the strangest twist of fate, something so wildly obscure occurred, that set his mind ablaze with the memory of that small encounter. Like all women, Chloe found Gibson striking and had even shared with her friends, her own guilty fantasy about him. Fantasy and reality were poles apart and Chloe believed that Gibson Barclay never even knew that she existed.

Author Bio
K. L. Shandwick lives on the outskirts of London. She started writing after a challenge by a friend when she commented on a book she read. The result of this was "The Everything Trilogy." Her background has been mainly in the health and social care sector in the U.K. She is still currently a freelance or self- employed professional in this field. Her books tend to focus on the relationships of the main characters. Writing is a form of escapism for her and she is just as excited to find out where her characters take her as she is when she reads another author's work.

 Interview With K. L. Shandwick:
1.Can you tell us a little about your books?
My books are contemporay romance with mature content. Although the books all have rockstars and the excitement of the performance, I've concentrated on the human side of them. I'm a story teller. My books are about relationships and they are angsty, emotional and I try to keep people guessing, but they have plot and a storyline with the drama that goes along with it. If my readers feel a wide range of emotions and I keep them turning the pages then I've done what I set out to do.

          2. Which one of your series is your favorite to write?
Hmm, that's a hard one. I think all of them for different reasons lol. Enough Isn't Everything because I never believed I could and didn't set out to write a book. Everything She Needs because I saw my writing develop in that book, Everything I Want because it was the culmination of all the different aspects of the first two books coming together and the plot developed to a very nice conclusion. Love With Every Beat because of the challenge it presented to write the whole trilogy from Alfie *the main character's point of view. And finally, Gibson's Legacy because it was the first book I actually meant to write where I sat down and I chose the characters and the script ideas I wanted to write about. The Everything Trilogy was a challenge and I was given the brief, young English girl, goes to America to study music. I think the challenger was thinking more in terms of a classical pianist but I had other ideas, which took the story down the rock romance type genre. Sorry! To answer your question If I had to choose if you still made me choose I'd say Gibson's Legacy.

            3. Using one sentence, describe Love with Every Beat ?
It's the emotional story about a guy who becomes a rock star but who learns to live and love by forgiving himself and following his heart.

           4. Do you have a favorite character to write about?
I have two. You have to forgive me but I have a hard time choosing.
I am enjoying writing Gibson's character he's very straightforward and doesn't filter that much, Jack in The Everything Trilogy and Love with Every Beat was a great character to write for as well, flirty and very humorous.

5 .If Gibson's Legacy was made into a movie, who would you want to play Gibson?
*smirk* who else...Adam Levine he'd be the perfect Gibson.

          6. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
I write everywhere, but when I am writing a scene and I have to knuckle down I sit on my bed, pull the blackouts down and focus on the screen to concentrate on the emotion of the scene.

         7. Do you listen to music while you write?
Absolutely, I can't think in silence, my mind begins to think about other things to do at the same time. Background music plays constantly around me, in my car too. When no one is home it grounds me and helps me think about what I want to say when I'm writing. Also, sometimes a line in a song can inspire a whole chapter in the books I write and I use playlists to support some of the scenes in my work.

         8. What's one random fact about yourself that you can share?
I used to do promotional work with bands in my teens.

         9.  What are writing projects are you currently working on?
Book 2 of The Last Score series. I haven't mentioned the name yet, that's to come. I'm about 30% in to that now, so another couple of weeks I will have the finished story to begin editing. There is another book I may collaborate on with another author but I am not at the point where anything is set in stone yet.
