Excerpt:

The shift in Landon was pressing against her chest like an anvil. Gone were all traces of the man she’d come to really like. He took rude and bossy to a whole new level. Worse than how he’d been when she first arrived. The more she contemplated it, the more she felt this was her doing, deciding she would go out of her way to be kind. After all, he was between a rock and a hard place, thanks to her. Seemed the least she could do was show a little compassion for his plight.

“I’ve got the dishes. You cooked,” he grumbled, taking the sponge from her hand.

“I don’t mind. It’s therapeutic,” she assured.

His glare made her check to see if she had something gross on her shirt. Her inspection came back clear. “Are you mad at me for something?” Stupid question! She scrunched her eyes tight waiting for the verbal blow to confirm her suspicions. Instead of pointing out the obvious, regarding her idiocy, he ignored her completely. And truth was, that made it worse. She tried again, “I’m sorry me being here has caused problems.”

His gaze bore into hers. “Little late for that.”

She gasped, “Oh my God! You’re blaming me.”

His shrug was anything but casual. “You ran into trouble and came here for help. Now your aunt is threatening to take my daughter. Explain how that has nothing to do with you.”

She struggled hard not to tell him to take a flying leap off the highest cliff he could find. “I’m sorry for any inconvenience I’ve caused you.”

“Don’t do that, Bliss,” he warned.

“Apologize?”

“That. But it’s more, and you know it.”

“Really. How about you go ahead and explain me to me!” Her hands on her hips as she stared him down. To hell with trying to be nice. She was sorry, but now, he’d crossed a line.

His laugh held a trace of cruelty. “You came here because you wanted to see me,” he dared her to deny it.

“Why are you doing this?” She stepped closer.

“Go ahead and lie to my face. Women in your family have been doing it for years.”

“Answer my question,” she demanded.

“Because I’m a dick. Thought you were in the loop on that one.”

She stood so close that his body heat was penetrating her skin. Oh, Lord have mercy, electricity danced from the almost touch. “I did want to see you.” The whispered confession blew across his neck.

He reached into the sink, and suddenly she screamed from the onslaught of a pan full of water dumped over her head. “That should cool you off,” he declared with a smugness to his tone that unleashed her fury.

Snatching a bowl, she threw soapy water in his face. “Tit for tat.”

He blinked rapidly from the sting, notching up his anger, he growled, “Hand me a towel.”

“Get it your fucking self,” she snarled, leaving the kitchen.

I spent another week in Prague. He was very busy, putting in fourteen to sixteen hour days. I occupied my time with some shopping and a little sightseeing. Others from the cast and crew spent a little time with me as well. I actually had a great time and a lot more understanding of what life was like for a movie actor.

Aidan was a phenomenal lover, always tender, as well as living up to his vow to bring me pleasure. We always fell asleep holding one another afterwards. I was going to feel cold and empty when I went home. Again, I pushed those morose feelings away. I had every intention of enjoying each second I had with him. I was bound and determined to live in the moment.

Refusing to fret over what he meant to me, or how much I wanted and needed him in my life. He was truly my other half. I was smart enough to know that the beginning part of any relationship was easy. It was the years down the road, learning to work through all of life’s ups and downs together, that truly made a soul mate. Plus, I’d been around long enough to know, nothing stayed happy forever.

Keeley Kincaid is in over her head—trading one addiction for another. She’s convinced she can handle it and hold everything together.

But deception has a mind of its own.

Enter the world where lines blur. Nothing is as it seems. Good and evil come together in a macabre display. And at the heart of it all beats the drum of deceiving those loved most. Can love and light ever penetrate such darkness?

Excerpt

Darkness consumed the young woman. The dream was evident with every violent thrash she gave, yet something told her there was so much more. Cold sweat drenched her body as a monster from the past rose up to claim her, again. She should have fought. Should’ve demanded he stop. Problem was, she not only relished what his sadistic torture brought to life inside her, but savored it. Craved it. Wanted more and more until the demon fully possessed her. She invited him in as an adored lover welcomed her mate. His violence was familiar, comforting. She was as acquainted with his wrath as her own skin. Yes, Keeley was his and he knew it, demanding she bleed out for him—only him. With an enraged kick across the bed, she knocked over the bedside table, slicing her foot on a lamp that broke. The smell of blood wafted through the air, increasing her desire. She needed him to fuck her. To bathe in her life source until she ran dry.

The devil sneered as he took a bite of her innermost parts, draining her of every ounce of essence she could provide. And she only wanted to give him more as he took with a vengeance, malevolence raging to have her. From the grave he wrapped his decaying fingers around her throat and squeezed. “Give it to me, Keeley,” his seductive voice commanded.

Something in that awakened another side of her. A spark of light, she long considered forever extinguished, incessantly attempted to shine. The flame required her oxygen, her fuel to burn. Burn with a brilliance. Burn with a purpose. The demon roared and writhed beneath the ever-present love that wouldn’t let him take what was so clearly his. She wanted him, unmistakably claimed his wickedness as her own. He could give her what that damnable light never could. She was addicted to pain as if it’d become her new brand of heroin. He raged in fury at the flickering, tiny spark that refused to go out and let him have his prize. It was so weak, so pathetic, if he could convince her to put it out, once and for all, they could reign together. He’d have his queen to do with as he pleased—when he pleased. Never permitting death. An eternity of torture and pain he knew she yearned for in the deep recesses of her soul. Yes, her soul was what he fought for.

And he would have it!

All of a sudden, when he violently slammed his cock inside her forbidden hole he felt a pain like no other, screaming, the demon withdrew and examined his prized possession. Worry knitted his brow as he saw the decay climbing along his proud manhood. His hand shook as his body shuddered. What was happening? He searched rapidly to find the source of this new development. That was when he saw it, rising from the ashes. The damnable flair coming to life, still struggling to hold on, but fight it was doing. Immeasurable love blinding him as he shielded his eyes. He had to take care of that before it gained any more strength. In an instant, his quest shifted. Destroy that light, that fucking love, and she was his forevermore. He backed into the shadows he was so accustomed to, studying his newest foe. But his queen had more than one holding that light alive.

He hissed, “Lacey and those damn Strand brothers,” before realizing that, while Keeley’s sister and her new family posed a threat, she wasn’t his biggest adversary. No. The one called Tar was going to valiantly fight for her.

His maniacal laugh caused the troubled Keeley to rise, terror in her eyes as they darted around the room. She couldn’t see him, of course. He stepped closer and ran his hand through her hair and whispered, “Your knight will not save you. Love isn’t what you desire. Only I can give you what you need. Mark my words, beauty, he shall die. And you will be the one to destroy him.”

Keeley screamed and screamed and screamed until her vocal chords refused to function. Her eyes blinked rapidly, for she knew—she knew—her monster spoke the truth. If she permitted Tar into her heart, she would be his executioner. No more thought entered her mind as she moved like a robot. This was rote to her. Bag in hand, she snuck out like a thief acknowledging she could never return, yet if it kept Tar alive and safe, she’d gladly pay the price of loneliness. A light like his should never come in contact with the obsidian that was her.

Darkness smiled as he laced his fingers with hers and tugged her into a world she would never escape. He had won, after all.

Fire
Beautiful Ashes Trilogy
Book 2

Genre: Steamy Dark Romance, New Adult & College Romance, Supernatural Thriller

Synopsis

The highly anticipated continuation of Keeley and Tar’s journey has arrived and battle lines have been drawn.

Keeley’s world goes pitch black when she's caught in one too many lies that destroy the only man who ever loved her.  Taunted by the demons of addiction and pain, she fights to become the woman Tar deserves.

Every fiber of Tar's being wants to rip things to shreds. Driven by rage and anger, he's damn sure there's nothing he can change to fix it.  And it doesn't alter the facts...Keeley has done the one thing he isn't sure he can ever forgive.

Tar and Keeley need love and light, but when a ruthless cartel takes Tar’s brother, he and Keeley must come together in the ultimate battle against the darkness … but it has other plans.

Excerpt

Keeley reached forward to smooth out that deep V between his eyes and heard his deep intake of breath. So much to say but she wasn’t sure how long her voice would cooperate, or if he’d be able to hear her raspy whisper. Frustration filled her, spilling down her cheeks, which brought more worry to his brutally handsome face. “I’m sorry. So, so sorry for hurting you.” She wiped the flowing tears away and continued, “Sorry for lying to you. I sh-should…”

“No. No. No should’ve. It’s not all your fault, Keeley. I owe you an apology, too.” She leaned within kissing distance and he sweetly pulled out of range. Next, he hit his knees before her but never broke eye contact. “I failed you. I let you down. I broke a promise. A man is nothing without his word. I violated that in the most dishonorable of ways.” More tears streamed down her beautiful face as she shook her head. “Yes, I did. You know it’s true.” His hand was now above her left breast against her heart. He felt it beating harder. “You feel it,” not a little awe in his voice laced with hope. “Let me make it up to you. Show you how sorry I am. Prove to you that your love is enough. That we can work through this and be stronger.” Her breathing hitched but she was still shaking her head. “Your darkness doesn’t scare me, Tigress. Please, can I have another chance to prove that to you?” He waited on baited breath. This was it. That question determined it all.

Their future.

Their love.

She held his heart in the palm of her tiny hand.

God, the man was breathtaking. She did not deserve him. The kind thing to do would be to set him free. But her heart, her soul refused. “I’ve made mistakes. Some…unforgivable.” Her head dropped while she stared at the floor.

Firm fingers lifted her chin. “Look at me, Keeley Ann Kincaid.” She didn’t want to. Had no desire to see his disappointment or chastisement. Again, she focused in another direction.

He sighed heavily. “You’re killing me here, Viper. Please look at me,” he begged.

That got her attention and brought her tear filled gaze to his. What she saw stole her breath.

Unadulterated love danced in his gorgeous emerald eyes. Brighter from the unshed tears he held at bay. She couldn’t help but study how they clung to his thick raven lashes. For her. He was pleading for her forgiveness, for her love. For a second chance. “All that is shattered can be mended,” she barely whispered and locked her little fingers around his large ones on her chin, shifting them away.

Synopsis

Tar’s lost in the halls of his own mind.

His body haunted by desires, his heart burning with a strange, familiar fire.

All he can think about is tasting her, knowing her, owning her.

But especially remembering her.

Excerpt

Trepidation filled her as she approached him, sleeping. She was cautious, leaning over and

whispering in his ear, “I’ll always love you,” before kissing the side of his mouth. Shock filled

her when a big hand fisted her hair and locked her lips to his. The kiss saying everything. Both

pulled away breathless. Tears streamed down her cheeks. Tar reached up to catch them. “What’s

wrong, Beautiful?”

“Oh, my God, you don’t remember!”

His face hardened. “I remember you giving up on us!” He pushed her away.

She crossed her arms over her chest. “What the hell are you talking about? I didn’t give up!” Her

voice rising on the last two words.

“The fuck you didn’t,” he growled. “You. Let. Go.”

Her wide-eyed gaze on his. “I couldn’t hang on. Are you actually blaming me for that?”

Her finger tapping along the brace to make her point. “I sorta had a good reason!” she yelled,

bringing Nik, E, and Lacey into the room.

E carefully eyed them. “Hey, you two need to lower your voices.”

“None of your fucking business, E,” Tar warned.

Nik stepped up. “Calm the fuck down.”

Tar’s eyes darted between the two brothers now standing in front of Keeley, forming a protective

wall. A part of him respected the hell out of them for it. Another, wanted to beat the ever-loving

shit out of them for stepping between him and the woman he loved. No matter how pissed off he

was at her, he’d never hurt her. Didn’t they know that? He looked between them and settled his

gaze on Keeley’s. “How’s your arm?”

She swallowed hard, still bewildered it was halfway healed and that she wouldn’t need the brace

for long. The doctor informed her that he didn’t see any complications arising if she took care of

herself. She recalled how, once more, he was amazed by the unexplainable phenomenon. But

Keeley knew the reason behind it all, her guardian angel. And as she stared at Tar, she knew he

too received healing. Or did he? “What happened earlier?”

“Ladies first.” His annoyance coming through for having to speak to her with bodyguards

between them.

E glanced over at Nik, nodding. They stepped to the side but close enough to help if Keeley

needed it. That was not lost on Tar as he shot both a fuck-you look, earning him a deep chuckle

from the brothers. Keeley took a step closer to the bed. “It doesn’t hurt. Breaks are clean and

healing.”

“That’s odd. I would’ve thought you’d be in that brace for a good six weeks.” He angled his head

trying to figure it out.

She huffed, “Don’t look at me like that.”

His brow raised. “Like what?”

“Like I’m a freak! And what about you?” Her irritation came through loud and clear.

He reached for her hand, lightly stroking. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you feel foolish.”

Her other hand was gently caressing his hairline. “Your head’s okay?”

A cough interrupted them. “Listen, Tar. You promise to be a good boy?” E quirked a brow at

him.

“Yes, Dad,” Tar retorted.

Nik added, “You better.”

E chuckled and nudged Nik out of the room.

Lacey was still sitting in a chair. “Okay if I go?” she asked Keeley.

“We’re good,” Keeley replied, gazing into Tar’s amazing emeralds.

Lacey politely closed the door behind her to give them privacy.

“Come here,” Tar’s voice rumbled low as he pulled Keeley to him.

She was now on top of him looking down at his handsome face. “Are you going to explain?”

He cupped her jaw.  “Just a concussion, which brought on a killer headache.”

“Why were so many people in here then?” Her fingers threading his hair.

“They thought I was a danger to myself.” He leaned up to tenderly nip along her lips.

Her breathing hitched. “More like to me.”

His tongue softly stroked the outside of her mouth. “That too.”

“And the flash back you had?” She parted her lips more to give him access.

“Common,” he growled before accepting her invitation.

With each slide of their tongues, grip of their hands, Tar and Keeley were forgiving each other.

Love mingled with need. Bodies demanding their union. Neither caring that anyone could walk in on them. The moment belonged to them and them alone.

Excerpt

I focused on breathing and tried to keep my heart rate under control. There was no point in showing up soaked with sweat while I panted like I’d just run a marathon. I gave myself a mental pep talk: You can do this, Aimee. No worries. Everything’s going to work out fine. If I could only believe it was true. I considered praying but then thought that wasn’t such a great idea. Yes, I was only applying for an escort position; however, I knew God was fully aware of just how tempting the offer was to take it a step further. Right, nix on the praying. When the door to the limo opened, I was pulled from my musing. I stepped out onto a red carpet. Luckily, I was no one of significance or with anyone important; hence, the focus was on others that arrived at the same time. Thank goodness.

I was gathered swiftly into the throng and rushed inside. While I took in my surroundings along with all the marvelous attire, a waiter passed by with a silver tray of champagne flutes. I grabbed one and took a sip. In a matter of moments, I was swept onto the dance floor where one gentleman after another danced with me. I eventually needed a break and excused myself to the nearest powder room.

Upon my return, I did my best to observe—all to no avail. A deep voice whispered in my ear. “May I have this dance?”

A chill of awareness instantly shot up and down my spine. I swallowed the lump in my throat and fought the urge to lean into whoever he was. “Yes,” I huskily replied. What the hell is the matter with me? Never have I had such a reaction to a man. He stepped around me. Once I was in his arms, we began to waltz around the dance floor. He was extremely tall, and his broad shoulders stretched the fabric of his tux deliciously. I ran my tongue over my bottom lip. He didn’t miss the motion. Due to the full mask he wore, I couldn’t get a good look at his face. But I could see his eyes, which were a brilliant light blue. They reminded me of a glacier: sharp, intense, and very observant. There really wasn’t anything else visible on him. I did notice his hair appeared to be blond, maybe a shade or so lighter than mine, and long enough that he could tie it back with a black leather thong. Everything about the man screamed danger, so, of course, I was drawn to him like a moth to a flame. Confidence radiated off of him in waves. I was immediately reminded of how you could tell a man made love by the way he danced. Although I was not delusional, this man would not make love. No. He would fuck. The thought made me wet. All of a sudden, I became aware of several things at once: He inexorably danced me into the shadows while Michael Bublé sang, “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.” The actual performer was there live, and, honestly, I couldn’t imagine a better song for how I felt at that moment. The next thing I knew, he had pulled me through a door I never noticed before.

I looked up at him and inquired, “Where are you taking me?”

His lips curved up slightly as he replied, “Somewhere quiet.”

Oh, my word. I had let a complete stranger drag me away from everyone and everything. And damn, if the idea didn’t excite me more. You would think I’d be a bit more concerned about my safety. For all I knew, this guy was an axe murderer. Yet, for some reason, I completely trusted him. I knew he would never hurt me physically. Although I was quite sure, the man had left more than one broken heart in his wake.

We slipped into a small library/office. The room was dimly lit; thus, I reached over to turn on a lamp sitting on a side table.

“Don’t,” he murmured.

I really wanted to know how his voice truly sounded. So far, the few words he had spoken were all whispered; therefore, I couldn’t hear it clearly. I did catch a slight rasp with a hint of some kind of accent but nothing discernable. Gah! The man became more frustrating by the moment. I heard the door lock, and then he was in front of me. He caressed up and down my sides, nibbling along my neck. I leaned to the side to give him better access, all the while I made little mewling noises.

He suckled the tender spot just below my earlobe. “Tell me to stop if I’ve misread the attraction between us,” he demanded.

No way in hell I was doing that. The electricity was arcing between our bodies with a mind of its own. Instead, I begged for more. “Please.”

I felt his smile along my throat. “Right answer,” he groaned.

My eyes lit on the dancer that was mine as she moved her scantily clad ass to the Pussycat Dolls’ “Buttons.” I would do more than loosen her up. That was for damn sure. Fuck me. They were doing that chair scene and I immediately knew we would be replaying it in my playroom. My dick flinched at the thought. Down boy, let her finish the set. I adjusted the fly on my jeans. I’d had to change out of my ruined Armani, so I was beyond uncomfortable in the unforgiving denim.

I strode towards the hallway off the stage, pacing like a caged lion as I watched her move. God, she was fantastic. What I could teach her to do with those assets was making me even harder. As if that were possible. The dance had finally come to an end, and one by one the girls passed me. Stella winked on her way by, promise in her sexy sway. She had always been a flirt. I liked her and her boyfriend, one of the bartenders, Gary. She should’ve known me well enough by now that I didn’t mess around with another man’s woman. Plus, I wasn’t into threesomes. I inclined my head when she peeked back over her shoulder at me, acknowledging her flirtations would need to be discussed sooner rather than later.

All of a sudden the hairs on my body stood at attention—joining my erection—as the current of awareness slid over me. Sweet baby Jesus, what this woman did to me should’ve scared me shitless; instead, it made me want her more. I slowly turned just in time to place my body in direct contact with hers. My eyes closed at the intensity. Fire swirled in my gut as electricity sang in my veins. In a swift movement, I locked her in my arms and trapped her against the wall. Whoa, she was tall. With those four-inch CFMPs on, we were eye to eye. Such possibilities we had with that advantage. I leaned in, stroking her jaw with my teeth, as I lightly bit my way to her rosy, full bottom lip. She gasped at my forwardness when I sucked said lip into my mouth. Just what I need to make my entrance. I claimed her mouth with all the pent-up desire I had in me. Holy hell, she was as sweet as I had imagined. After a few minutes, I pulled back for air and clasped her hand, “My office,” I demanded, “Now.” At least one of my fantasies was being met tonight. Because I already knew, I wasn’t letting her go any time soon.

Excerpt

I stood up in front of him, close enough that my breasts rubbed against his hard torso. Instantly, I was aroused and damn thankful I wasn’t a man. If I had been, an impressive erection would’ve given me away. The thought brought my eyes to Alex’s fly where sure enough a hard-on greeted me. Licking my bottom lip, I closed my eyes tightly and replied, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

On a growl Alex’s mouth was on mine, demanding I surrender to his entrance. Like hell I would. My palms came up between us as I placed them on his chest, fighting the undeniable awareness zinging through my fingertips. I shoved him back with all my might. He stumbled, yet recovered quickly. Through labored breath he inquired, “What do you want from me, Sofie?”

My chin jutted out with resolve. “Not one damn thing,” I affirmed, pushing past him towards the exit.

He was hot on my heels. “Don’t—”

I halted and rounded on him. “Don’t what, Mr. Strand?” His eyes widened, though I couldn’t tell if it was from ire or excitement. Wait! Had my challenge turned him on? “I don’t need you,” I nearly screamed.

He shot me a sly grin. “I beg to differ, Ms. Fields.”

I took a step backwards; there was no denying what I saw in his hooded gaze. Desire. Oh shit! I turned abruptly to make a quick escape but wasn’t fast enough. Damn his love for Muay Thai. He had me pinned to the wall in the hallway with my arms held firmly in his grasp. He leaned down and began a tortuous trek from my ear to the corner of my mouth, nibbling along my lips. “This is going to happen, kjære. I know it. You know it.” He paused and tenderly kissed me. The kind of kiss that messes with a woman, staking the claim: You. Are. Mine. Dammit all to hell…it was beyond unfair. I comprehended, and he did too—I was his. Always had been. Instead of deepening our kiss, he eased back and laced his fingers with mine. “Before we do anything else. Before our lives grow more chaotic. Before either one of us talks the other out of this, we are going to make love,” he declared with a sexy set to his jaw that caused me to soak my panties. God…damn man had a way of irritating the hell out of me while setting me ablaze. Self-preservation flew right out the window as I confirmed, “Yes.”

Aimee snapped her fingers in front of my face. “You in there?”

I blinked several times, bringing myself back to the adult toys-r-us party. “Sorry.”

Renée reiterated, “It’s all about the mindset. Own your sexuality and his.”

“Isn’t it about the power exchange?”

A wicked grin slid along her lips. “Hell yeah.”

Aimee’s eyes were lit with fire as she declared, “Make him. Whether it’s a Dom/sub or straight vanilla, power must change hands. We can’t both be in control at the same time.”

Sofie added, “Someone must lead and someone must follow for any relationship to work. You already lead him at times. I’ve seen it.”

“I do?”

“Damn girl, where have you been?” Aimee had an incredulous look as she continued, “That man fucking adores you.”

“I love him so much. I don’t want to let him down, y’know what I mean?”

Sofie smiled, “Not possible. News flash, he loves you too.”

Why I was so worried suddenly about E’s feelings disturbed me more than I wanted to admit. Could lack of sex be causing it? If so, was he struggling with all of this negative crap too? Time to remedy that. I really did respect his wishes to wait until our wedding night to have intercourse again. Part of me felt beyond honored that he wanted to. Fine line to walk, helping him stick to his vow while testing his virility. Geez, what was I thinking? Your soon to be husband needs to know he’s still a man. Right. Operation Domme-the-daylights-out-of-Even was now in full swing.

*****

Fully expecting to see Nik and Alex when I walked into the penthouse, surprise hit me at seeing E asleep on the couch. God he was beautiful. Not easy on the eyes handsome but light your lady parts on fire attractive. A heart-hammering kind of gorgeous, he really was sex on a stick. The fact he was a loyal, good, honest man added to his appeal. In case anyone ever thought he was tame, the tribal dragon tattoo would make them think twice along with his commanding presence. Never could there be a doubt he was in full control. His deep moan instigated my gaze to perform a full scan of his body, making sure he wasn’t in any pain. He was pushing himself too hard, but there’d be no reasoning with his stubborn ass. I turned to leave him in peace when he moaned my name. Easing closer, I didn’t miss the erection that greeted me.

“I’m right here, E,” I reassured, watching his reactions.

A low groan was followed by his hand stroking his straining length.  Still completely lost in what appeared to be his erotic dream, he commanded, “Touch me, Lacey.”

Who was I to deny the man I loved? Besides, he needed to know that part of him worked. The doctor had assured us that the nerve damage would eventually heal. No time like the present to test it. Plus there was the yearning to have him in my mouth. The absolute necessity of ensuring he didn’t break his vow sat front and center in my mind as I placed my fingers over his. Intention to let him lead was there until I recalled Sofie’s office. He was asleep, so if it were an epic fail only I would know. Moving my fingers to his muscled thighs I directed, “My show. You’re going to do as I say, E.”

His penis grew harder and longer as his hand stilled. From the waistband of his gym shorts, his head broke free. I licked my lips at the sight and forced my gaze up to his tightly closed eyes. He was fighting for control. “Take off your shorts.” His brows furrowed at my order. “Do it. Now.”
