MORE by LISA SHELBY

Mickey Jacobs and Alexandra Stotts have known each other since they were kids. Outwardly, living childhoods full of joy and laughter but privately both experiencing their own kinds of pain and disappointment.

Alex had always been taught what happens behind closed doors stays behind closed doors. The outside world saw her life as idyllic and picture perfect. But of course, things are never what they seem.

After watching his philandering father tear his family apart and break his mother’s heart time and time again, Mick vowed to never cause another person that kind of pain. Keep it simple. No relationships.

But then there was the sweet, exotically beautiful Alex. There was always Alex. With her…things were never simple. She was forbidden fruit. His sister’s friend. Off limits.

Alex was head-over-heels for Mick the moment her twelve-year old eyes landed on him. She knew at this young age that they could never be. Even if he wasn’t her best friend’s brother, he was still Mickey freaking Jacobs. Now, all grown up, Mick is gorgeous, the life of the party and an eternal bachelor. He’ll never be able to give Alex what she needs, and she’s not sure she could risk the pain that giving Mickey Jacobs her heart would surely inflict.

Can Mick and Alex find a way to heal themselves by loving each other?

Can he give her MORE?

 Interview With Lisa Shelby:

1.    Can you tell us a little about your books?

Oh, I’d love to! My You & Me Series is a series of sweet and sexy standalone adult contemporary romances. I am a self-proclaimed Love Geek and I love stories that give me the feels and I tend to write what I love. If you are a fan of second chance romance or friends-to-lover’s tropes you just might want to check out You & Me and More and coming in September, Something Just Like This!

2.    What is your newest release?

My latest release is More: A You & Me Novel. It’s a friends-to-lovers story about Mickey Jacobs and Alexandra Stotts. I really love these two and their story means a lot to me. Here’s the blurb to give you a little taste of what their story is all about.

3.    What inspires you to write?

My husband and music. My husband is my best friend and biggest supporter. He pushed me to finally write my first book and there is a piece of him in all of my main characters. He inspires me each and every day. Music is also a constant inspiration. I can hear a line from a song and it will inspire a scene, chapter or heck…a whole book! In fact, the chapter titles in my first two books are song titles. I keep a list of songs on my phone and it is getting pretty dang long. I’ll be in the car with my husband and son in the middle of a conversation and hear the lyrics to a song and stop mid-sentence while I stop to listen. It’s a bit of problem.

4.    Do you have a favorite spot to write?

I really don’t. I have my laptop on my lap no matter where I am in the house. I love to write at our local coffee shop too. That little coffee shop actually inspired a scene location or two in my debut novel, You & Me.

5.    Do you have any “odd” writing habits?

Oh, goodness, I feel like everything about me is just a tad bit odd! Ha, ha!

I do have one thing that I do that is a bit “odd” or maybe masochist? When I’m writing if I make a mistake or miss a letter in a word or something simple like that, I delete all the words in the sentence until I get to the error and retype the entire sentence. I could simply move my cursor to the word with the error and fix it but nope, that would be way too easy. Why would I want to make things easy on myself? That is just crazy talk! If you could see how many mistakes I make you would realize just how truly masochistic I really am. ;)

6.    If you ever experience a case of writer’s block, how do you cure it?

I don’t think I have ever had “real” writer’s block. When I get stuck I go back and re-read the chapter before the one I’m on or take a look at my outline and what comes next and sometimes that helps piece it all together. Music helps too. Sometimes all it takes is to hear a word in a lyric and it is what I need for everything to click into place.

7.    Do you work with an outline, or just write?

I wish I could just sit down and write but I am a planner/plotter/outliner. Whatever you want to call it. I generally start with a journal where I compile notes and info for my character’s backgrounds. I also always have notes in my phone because I’m constantly getting ideas at the most random of moments. Next, I write out an outline that includes actual dialogue. I use a writing program called Scrivener and a great part of the program is that you can use little electronic note cards for your chapters and scenes. So, I write my outline again on my Scrivener note cards and then I start to write. I feel like writing it in my journal, then as an outline and then on the notecards helps me to know exactly where I’m going with my story. Planning this way helps to really have the flow of the story in my brain since I have already written it in three different stages before I actually write the book!

Wow, this sounds exhausting! No wonder I am so tired!

8.    If you could spend 24 hours as a fictional character, who would you chose?

Without hesitation, it would be Claire Fraser from the Outlander Series. This is my all-time favorite series Jamie and Claire are my favorite fictional couple. Hands down. Not only is Claire smart, strong and just as capable as any man…she is married to Jamie Fraser! I would love to spend a day in Scotland listening to that accent of his. Heavy sigh…

9.    Are you attending any Author Signing Events this year?

I have one more event this year. I will be a part of the Passion in Portland 2017 event on September 23rd in Portland, OR. If you’re in the Pacific Northwest, come see me. Check out all the PIP17 info here: https://www.facebook.com/passioninportland/

I have many exciting signings in 2018 and 2019 that include Cancun and Dublin! I can’t wait to meet readers in all of these amazing locations.

10.                   What are you working on next?

Right now, my focus is on Something Just Like This. This will be book three of my You & Me Series and it will be released on September 12th! It’s another sweet and sexy standalone from the You & Me world.

I have several other stories outlined, including a sexy duet that I’m excited to get out of my journal and onto the I also have a secret project that I can’t wait to get started on!
