Love War (Battlefield of Love Book 1)

What happens when happily ever after isn't happy?
When everything you thought you knew changes?
Obligation... Marriage
Betrayal... Freedom
Until him. Until her.
Second chances...
Until them.
Deceit... Doubt.
The past may have won the battles, but can Love win the War?

Excerpts:

PROLOGUE EXCERPT

What happens when happily ever after isn’t so happy? When all your dreams and plans dissolve into the chaos of everyday life, and are swallowed up by obligations…
Absolutely nothing.
Hollow.
Empty.
Unhappy.
I’m void of all emotions. Struggling to breathe, walking through life as if a cinder block is tied to my chest. I’m falling deeper into the unknown.
Drowning.
Dying.
I’m tired. This isn’t what life should be all about. It’s exhausting trying to fight my way to the top when all I seem to do is sink further down.
Is there something wrong with me?
Can he see it? Feel it?
I told myself we weren’t obligated to get married. We chose to become a family. Getting pregnant was a surprise, but we embraced our new reality and accepted our fate for what it had become.
Ignoring all the signs that pointed to the obvious.
Oblivious.
He was the perfect husband.
Was he?
He was there when we lost the baby. Took care of me in all the ways a husband should take care of his wife. Reassured me that it wasn’t our fault, that it wasn’t the right time and we would be blessed when it was. He could have left. He had an out, but he stayed.
He always stayed.
Something was off. We were never the same after that — or maybe we were never right to begin with.
Routine.
I did what any good wife would do. I supported him while he finished his degree and built his career. I put my education and dreams on hold for him. Volunteered at local charities, kept a clean house, had dinner on the table nightly and made sure I worked out daily.
He was there for me every step of the way when I finally got pregnant again six years ago, accompanying me to most of my appointments, making sure either my mom or his would fill in when work called.
He was a hands-on dad, relieving me of some of the late-night feedings even when he had to work the next day. I was lucky.
He was on top of things, never forgetting a special day and always making the moment perfect. I felt perfect…
Until I didn’t.

Chapter 16 Excerpt
When I asked for a divorce after 12 years of marriage, I never thought this is where I would end up. I was lost in playing the role of wife and mom. It’s all I knew, my everyday life…until now.
Independence.
I made a decision to choose me. For the first time in a long time I set out to discover who I am, what I could be when not wrapped up in everyday life. Did I feel guilty? Yes. To be honest, it’s why I stayed for so long. I knew our relationship was based on obligation. Does it mean I didn’t love Doug? No. I did. I was madly in love with the man.  He stole my heart, but failed to give me all of his.
Responsibility.
How can you fully love someone if they don’t give you their all? You don’t. I tried everything. I changed me, to save us. That’s what you do right? Change with the seasons of marriage? Kind of. You choose to grow together, become stronger to unify your marriage, but not at the cost of losing yourself or it’s for nothing.
Sacrifice.
Some say asking for a divorce is a coward’s way out, but I call it brave. Making a decision I knew would affect our whole family takes some guts. I swallowed my pride, spoke up and said something.
Courageous.
It wasn’t giving up, it was allowing us to have hope. I was giving us a chance at happiness. Taking a chance knowing we all would survive.
Fighter.

About Cary Hart:
Cary Hart hails from the Midwest. A sassy, coffee drinking, sometimes sailor swearing (Shhh… don’t tell.), wine sipping, Spotify addict, lover of all things books!
When not pushing women down the stairs in the fictional world, Cary has her hands full. She is blessed to be the sports mom of two wild and crazy, spoiled kiddos, and wife to the most supportive husband (took a few years to train). In addition to working full time, she bakes cookies on the side to fund her newly found love of writing and to keep her Sephora VIB Rouge status. The addiction is real, folks!
Believe it or not, writing was never a dream for Cary. Reading was something she never enjoyed growing up. All it took was one friend, who went MIA for a weekend on a book binge, to share her passion and loan an ebook, lighting a fire inside her. Two years, and hundreds of ebooks later, she connected with one of her favorite authors, who patiently listened to her plot ideas. Her encouragement and saying those three little words “You write it!” changed everything!
So, welcome! Hop on board, and enjoy the ride!

Interview With Cary Hart:

1. Can you tell us a little about your books?
My books are about broken people trying to find their way, or in most cases make there own way. From billionaires to construction workers, my heroes aren't typically looking for love but it finds them. My heroines are strong, independent woman who are battling life's obstacles and vary from a dreamer to mom to workaholic. I like to throw in some witty banter, because it's just how I am... a little comic relief for the drama and heartache they endure.

2. What is your newest release?
Love War - Battlefield of Love, Book #1

3. For a reader who hasn't read your books yet, which book do you suggest they start with?

I'm a Panster, but pretend I'm a planner.

6. What book did you enjoy writing the most and why?
Building Forever was a blast to write. Gamms, was hilarious and made me realize that eventually I want to write a Rom-Com series.

7. If  you could spend 24 hours as a fictional character, who would you chose?
