The Art of Letting Go is book 15 the Happy Ending Resort series. The books in the series can be read as a standalone. Each story in the series is different and is written by a different author but then all happen at the Happy Ending Resort. I have read the first couple then I lost touch with the series. When I saw this one pop up in my newsfeed I took it as a sign it was time to head back to the Happy Ending Resort. I didn't read the blurb, I just jumped right in.
So, I have to admitted I was little judgy of Hartley right from the first sentence, "When I 'divorced' my parents at seventeen , I decided to move from Lanesboro, Minnesota to Arden, South Carolina to start my new life." Yup, I was like oh god this is going to be a story about some entitled brat. oh boy, was I wrong. Hartley has been through hell. Her parents were awful but she was able to escape and get good foster parents. Her childhood was not nice at all, it was gritty and cringe worthy. I kind of felt bad for judging Hartley before I read her story.
Hartley meets Milo while visiting her foster parents at the Happy Endings Resort. Milo lives there and he's also a lifeguard. He's sweet and nice to Hartley. I liked his and Hartley's relationship. After reading of her past, I really enjoyed reading about her having fun and enjoying life. The ending left me wanting more of Hartley and Milo.
