Interview With Claire Marta:
My books follow my main character Jasmine Hunter and her adventures. She is a rookie who works for a covert branch of Scotland Yard who deal with Supernatural cases. In the series she runs into Eric a vampire with a lot of secrets. Through each book you you discover a continuing storyline and lots of mystery and questions.
2. How did you choose the genre you write in?
I have always enjoyed reading PNR and from an early age I loved everything fantasy. Writing in this genre just comes easy to me because I love how anything is possible.
3. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
I have a corner in the sitting room with a table. This is my usual spot and I love having my own space. When I am alone I can just switch off and start to write. Usually this is in the week when everyone is at nursery or work. It’s much more difficult to find the writing zone when everyone is home.
4. If you ever experience a case of writer’s block, how do you cure it?
I go for a walk. I read other books. Music helps me in a big way to and sometimes I will sit and paw through spotify looking for new songs which inspire me. Watching movies is also a good way to let my brain switch off a little and recharge.
5. Do you work with an outline, or just write?
I have a loose outline. Usually its not always what I finish with as my characters tend to have minds of their owns. But I find it good to have something to start with.
6. What is a usual writing day like for you? How is it structured?
Drop my daughter off at nursery and then I have 4 hours to write. I will make a cup of tea and open up a current WIP and see where it takes me. Other times I will listen to music while doing promotional things or talk to my readers or beta readers. My day can be very different from one to the next.
7. What is your favorite comfort food?
That’s tough because I have quite a few. Peanut M&M’s when i’m on the go but if its at home tomato soup with grated cheese on top. It has to have crusty bread to dunk in it as well. It’s perfect for winter days.
8. What are writing projects are you currently working on?
I am currently writing Twitch’s book. He’s Jasmine’s side kick in a way. He’s a complex character who is a little bit of a pervert but in a good hearted way. I am also writing book 5 in my series which will be set Budapest where things get a little spooky.
