Brothers of Darkness by Joleene Naylor
(newest book – releases Oct
11th)
“Not a love story…a dark spiral into blackness.”
“If you’ve read Shades of Gray, you know how this has to end.”
The prequel to Shades of Gray tells the story of Patrick and Michael, how they got tangled into Claudius’ web, and their valiant fight to escape.
When Patrick’s missing brother Michael returns, he brings with him a world of darkness. Turned into a vampire against his will, Michael is the coven’s whipping boy. When Patrick tries to help, he’s claimed as a slave who spends his weekends preparing victims, scooping ashes, and falling prey to the vampire’s twisted desires.
There’s only so much hell he can take, and when vampires from a warring coven offer sanctuary in exchange for cooperation, Patrick quickly agrees. What he expected to be a few months drags out into a long smear of nightmares, and though he fights for hope and freedom, the cost of victory may be more than he bargained for.

Shades of Gray by Joleene Naylor
(series opener)
When Patrick is murdered, Katelina is left with questions.
Jorick, one of his so-called friends, has answers of the darkest kind: Patrick
was involved with – and betrayed – a coven of vampires; vampires that may now
be after Katelina.
The tale is fantastic, but the proof appears in a flash of fangs that Katelina and Jorick only just escape. Taken to a secret mansion, she discovers horror in its halls and learns the truth about her protector. Blood and destruction follow, and leave scars Katelina may never heal from.
The disturbing opener to the Amaranthine series pulls Katelina into darkness that tastes like fear and smells like blood, a world where night is eternal and vampires don’t sparkle.

About Joleene Naylor:
Joleene Naylor is the author of the glitter-less Amaranthine vampire
series, a world where vampires aren't for children. As a compliment to the
novel series, she has also written several short stories, including theVampire
Morsels collection.
In her spare time, Joleene is a freelance book cover designer and for-fun photographer . She maintains several blogs full of odd ramblings, and occasionally updates her website at JoleeneNaylor.com. In what little time is left she watches anime and pins recipes and DIY, all from a crooked Victorian house in Villisca, Iowa. Between her husband and her pets, she is never lonely, and should she ever disappear one might look for her on a beach in Tahiti, sipping a tropical drink and wearing a disguise.

Interview With Joleene Naylor:
1.
Can you tell us a little
about your books?
I’m the author of the glitterless Amaranthine vampire series.
Though it’s the usual setup – human woman gets tangled up with a hot vampire
hero – I wanted it to be different. Katelina isn’t 5’2”, thin as a rail, with a
magically curvy figure that stops people dead in their tracks. She’s 5’6” and
average. She’s not graceful, but she’s not a super-klutz. She’s not a weapons
expert, but she’s not a wilting flower. Everyone doesn’t fall in love with her
the minute they meet her, and she isn’t in any hurry to become immortal. For
that matter, she doesn’t even believe the vampire story for a while. Basically,
I wanted to “fix” all the things that annoy me about other books.
2.
When did you know you
wanted to write a book?
I’ve always been a writer in one form or another, because my
mother was. I wrote my first novel at twelve (I still have it – my English
teacher was so awesome that she typed it up for me!).
3.
What is a usual writing
day like for you, how is it structured?
There’s no such thing as usual, but I prefer to glut on writing. I
used to be able to really do that, but now that we’ve moved to Iowa I’m lucky
to get a few uninterrupted hours a day.
4.
Do you have a favorite
food or drink you must have nearby when writing?
Nothing in particular, I just need liquid.
5.
For a reader who hasn't
read your books yet, which book do you suggest they start with?
It’s usually best to start with the first one – Shades of Gray –
which is also free, but readers could jump in at number five – Heart of the
Raven – because at that point things switch gears from a more isolated story to
something closely resembling a fantasy epic.
6.
Which of your characters
would you like to meet in person?
Probably none of them. I do mean things to them and I think they’d
want to get back at me.
7.
If you were a
super-hero, what powers would you have?
I’m scared of heights, I don’t like speed, and mind reading would
be a way to find out things you didn’t want to know, so I think I’d go with
super strength. It would be useful, but not terrifying. Unless super money making
is an option, then I’m choosing it.
8.
What are writing
projects are you currently working on?
Goddess of Night, the final book in the Amaranthine series will be
released March 31st, 2017, so I am working on it, as well as a
humorous vampire novel with co-writer Jonathan Harvey, and I have plans for at
least a dozen other books, most of them also in the Amaranthine universe.
Thanks so much for featuring me!
