  Swept Away by Elizabeth Seckman

He came looking for a ghost. Instead, he found a girl.

Tucker Boone is a war-hardened Marine on a ghost hunt. Fresh out of the corps, Tucker learns he has a missing half-sister, Maddy. The only clue to her whereabouts is a cryptic note…I’ve gone Mad, Mags. Tucker agrees to search for her and heads to Ocracoke, North Carolina where a ghost named Mad Mags is said to haunt the ancient graveyards dotting the island.

The note doesn’t bring him any closer to finding Maddy, but it does offer him a diversion to the doldrums of civilian life— his new island neighbor, Josie McCoy. Tucker is drawn to her quiet spirit. There’s something special about Josie…a connection he can’t quite explain.

By summer’s end, he’s mixed up in deception, murder, and the love of a lifetime. Logic tells him to head home and forget the truths he found on the island. But can he walk away? Josie offers him more than love; she offers him hope. When the clues pile up and it looks like she can never be the girl for him, he has to make a choice- play it safe and break her heart, or risk everything for a chance at being swept away.

About Elizabeth Seckman:
Elizabeth Seckman is the author of women’s fiction and romance. A graduate of Marshall University, she has a degree in counseling and worked for years as a social worker. Interview With Elizabeth Seckman

  1. Can you tell us a little about your book?
Tucker Boone is fresh out of the Marine Corps and on a search to find the sister he never met. He follows a clue, a note that says, I’ve gone Mad Mags, to Ocracoke Island. Finding his sister appears to be a dead end, but he decides to stay on the island. Not only can his soul use some salt water healing, but his new neighbor, Josie, is as lovely as she is mysterious.

  2. When did you know you wanted to write a book?
I went on a ghost walk while on vacation at Ocracoke. I wanted to write a story that incorporated the ghost of Mad Mags, a tragic spirit that is said to haunt the island.

  3. Which of your characters would you like to meet in person and why?
Tucker is pretty hot, but I’m married...so, I would love to spend a day with Josie

  4. Do you work with an outline, or just write?
I am a planner. I have outlines, notebooks with research, and chapter break downs. I’m a natural rambler, so I have to force myself to structure.

  5. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
Anywhere quiet. Talk to me and I lose my train of thought. I am a multi-tasking failure.

  6. Do you have a favorite food or drink you must have nearby when writing?
I always get a cup of hot tea…which always just sits there and gets cold. I suppose I need it for moral support.

  7. What’s your favorite summertime activity?
Time at the beach is great. But my favorite part of summer is having the kids home. I have three in college now, so having them all under a single roof for a time is quite the gift.

  8. What are writing projects are you currently working on?
I have a couple of ideas in the hopper, but I don’t usually get much writing done in the summer. I am a summer bum.
