Jo Meadows did what she always dreamed, following her father’s footsteps and becoming a career firefighter. Torn between their responsibilities and their attraction for each other, their history ignites a spark that neither can deny. But Brian’s reputation for being a ladies’ man and now becoming her new boss challenges their scorching chemistry. Will he be able to prove to her he’s changed before Jo’s past comes back to haunt them both?

Interview With Amy Briggs

1. Can you tell us a little about your book? 

Fired Up is a kind of 2nd chance romance between two firefighters, Brian and Jo, who grew up together. Brian is Jo's best friend's brother of course too! Jo is struggling with the loss of her dad and wanting to go back to his department, but Brian, her old crush is now the chief! 

 

2. When did you know you wanted to write a book?

 In looking back over all of this, I think I always wanted to write a book, but I made the decision to write THIS book during my Christmas vacation this past year. That's when I sat down, and really started writing purposefully. 

 

3. Using one sentence can you describe Fired Up? 

A steamy HEA romance between two firefighters with a history, who fight to overcome the odds against them. 

 

4. Do you work with an outline, or just write? 

I just sit and write. My best ideas usually happen when I'm driving of course, so I have started taking my laptop almost everywhere! I have a little notebook I put plot ideas or character descriptions that I'll refer to occassionally, but I didn't know how Fired Up was going to end until I wrote it. LOL. 

 

5. Do you have a favorite spot to write? 

I'll be honest, my favorite place to write is outside, at a bar during happy hour. It usually starts out quiet, and then the hustle and bustle of the people around me usually inspires me. I also have a desk at my house that is set up right at a corner window, so I can look out and think as well. 

 

6. Do you have a favorite food or drink you must have nearby when writing? 

Well at happy hour, I usually have a captain and ginger, or a beer by my side. Right now it's hot as the dickens in Florida, so I always have a water too haha!

 

7. Do you listen to music while you write? 

I definitely almost always listen to music when I write. Usually classic rock which is now apparently the 80's and 90's haha!!! Or whatever is playing at the bar. I find music super inspiring, and for me it always evokes emotions. The only time I don't have music on is when I'm editing. 

 

8. What are you working on next? 

Right now, I'm working on Book 2 of the Brotherhood of District 23 Series, called Fully Involved. I'm also working with two other authors on potential co-written projects that you should be on the lookout for, and I've got all kinds of ideas brewing for other hotties to make into book boyfriends!!
