About Cat Skinner:

 CatHeadShotHiRes

Blogger and writer Cat Skinner has devoted her entire professional life to entertaining people, and helping them connect with passion.
Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Cat spent her early childhood hiding away to concoct award-winning stories until fate conspired to put her on stage dressed as Madonna at the tender age of ten. Drunk with the power of a stretch-knit mini-skirt, she tossed aside her dreams of literary greatness in favor of embodying the feisty female characters someone else was dreaming up.
In her adult life, Cat is best known as the Artistic Director and Mistress of Ceremonies of a cabaret and burlesque company called Les Coquettes, where she learned the art of reading her audience and responding to their needs. This philosophy guides her writing, her speaking engagements and her coaching practice – she loves connecting with people to answer their questions about relationships, sex, and creativity, in an open and approachable way.
Beyond writing, Cat explores her own passions as often as she can – cooking, reading, hiking, dreaming, entertaining, practicing yoga, and generally seeing the sparkle in every moment. Her most important role is as a devoted mom of three. She lives in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.

Interview With Cat Skinner:
  1. Can you tell us a little about your book?
My book, Keeping It Up: A Guy's Guide to Great Relationship Sex, is a quick, easy and fun primer on strengthening or repairing a relationship both inside and out of the bedroom, written for the average hetero male in a committed relationship from a woman's perspective. I've spent eight years giving out relationship advice and sex educating through my blogging, so I've really been able to tune in to what women want men to hear about sex.
  2. Is  Keeping It Up: A Guy's Guide to Great Relationship Sex, just for guys or will ladies enjoy reading it too?
I think women will absolutely enjoy reading it too, because it's written from a woman's perspective and they'll find that a lot of important topics are covered. Also, couples will have lots of fun, and lots of great conversation reading it together.
  3. Do you work with an outline, or just write?
Oh, my brain is way too messy to just write. I'm the kind of writer who needs to plot things out, and get a broad sense of the direction I want to go, and the tone I want to create, specially with non-fiction.
  4. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
I have a little walnut secretary's desk in my bedroom beside my fireplace and a window that looks out on the Niagara River. This is where I do most of my work, but sometimes I love to just zip over to a cozy cafe so I can be around the buzz and energy of other people.
  5. Do you have a favorite food or drink you must have nearby when writing?
I usually need a mug of either strong coffee or tea, and I must always, always have a little bit of dark chocolate.
  6. Do you listen to music while you write?
I don't usually listen to music because I really love taking advantage of the rare moments of quiet in our busy household.

  7. What is your favorite thing to do when you're not writing?
I love spending time with my family. I have three kids, and they are such bright, inspiring, delightful people.
  8. What are you working on next?
I'm starting to hack away at revising my first novel, which is loosely inspired by my eleven-year career as the Artistic Director and Mistress of Ceremonies for a Cabaret Burlesque theater company. The story is a sort of chick-lit meets superhero adventure about a team of female mercenaries who are part of an ancient secret order.
