Indelible You (Imagine Ink 1)

Ink is indelible.

So is love, at least in theory.

He’s an over-inked, reformed bad boy and she is the slightly older, seemingly out of reach woman who’s head over heels (actually knees over shoulders) in love with him. Almost as much as he is with her.

Somehow, they have remained oblivious to their mutual attraction for five years.
One night, they take the plunge. Love conquers all, right?

They expose hearts and bodies, expecting a happily ever after until a terrible secret is revealed—during climax.

Anything worth having is worth bleeding for—and boy will they bleed—but will it be enough to drain the taint of that secret, or will it be fatal for both of them?

Some things are more permanent than tattoos.

AUTHOR BIO

A resident of Oak Hills, CA., Verlene Landon was born and raised in the south and has traveled all over the U.S., thanks to the military. She now calls the west coast her home with her husband, adult son, high school daughter, obnoxiously obese cat, two spoiled bunnies, a hyper chocolate lab and a Great Dane puppy. A wine connoisseur and a passion for college football, she will never forget her roots and will always be ‘Bama’ for life and likes to consider she’s living the BAMAFORNIA life.

Interview With Verlene Landon:

1.) Can you tell us a little about your book?
  • Well, obviously, there’s a hot guy and some sexy stuff, we all love that, right? But it’s the not so sexy stuff that I really enjoyed writing about. It’s about so much more, because we as humans are about so much more. It’s about love & loss, friendship & heartache, but more importantly about discovery & recovery. We can recover from addictions and heartbreak, but mostly from our past. Redemption. Oh, wait, you said a little. Oops, sorry, I don’t do little apparently.

2.) I just read the blurb of Indelible You and based on the blurb I one clicked it. How hard was it to come up with the blurb?
  • First of all, that’s awesome, thanks for the support.
  • Secondly, wow, let’s see, how hard is it? Have you ever tried to carry sand in a sifter? Well, it’s just a shade tougher than that. I have to share credit for the blurb and tag line with my editor, she basically cupped her hands under the strainer so I was able to get a few grains transported. (She helped a lot with that.)

3.) Indelible You is listed as book 1 in Imagine Ink series. I'm not going to ask if it has a cliffhanger. When can we except book two?
  • I’m going to answer the cliffhanger not-a-question anyway, because as a reader, I hate not knowing from page one if I will be met with a cliffhanger. No, no cliffhanger. Each book in the series can stand alone, you’ll just get a richer experience and hopefully a deeper connection to the characters if you read them in order though.
  • I am working on book 2 right now. Tentatively we are shooting for spring, and I think with the amazing women I have surrounded myself with, we can make it happen.

4.) How many books will there be in the Imagine Ink series?
  • I always thought it to be 3, but about 75% into book two, I discovered that book three had changed entirely and a fourth book was a good idea.

5.) Do you have a favorite spot to write?
  • It was my office until my son graduated hs and is home way too much during the day. I now hide away in my room until I can reclaim my space.

6.)Do you listen to music while you write?
  • Yes. Each set of characters/book has it’s own playlist and I not only listen to it when I am actively writing, but also every chance I get during the first draft stage (in the car, working out, etc.) to keep me in touch with them.

7.) When did you know you wanted to write a book?
  • I’ve always written, since middle school. I dreamed of being published, I just never had the guts to put myself out there to be criticized. That’s one major advantage of getting older, with each year that passes, I give less and less f**ks about what people think about me. That is really what has freed me to pursue this dream. So, yay for older people.

8.) Do you work with an outline, or just write?
  • I just write. I was told once I needed to outline. I tried it and it sucked. The story ended up feeling forced and not at all what the characters wanted to convey. It just felt…wrong. Everything about it felt wrong. - So, I sit down and just listen and type. I spend an ass ton of time re-writing, partially because of not having a story board I’m sure, but to me it’s worth it. I like the texture of the story better when the characters are in the driver’s seat, even if that means more work for me.

9.) Do you have any tattoos?
  • Yes, 8 or so as of now. As a matter of fact, I just started a Norse sleeve two weeks ago. I plan to be mostly covered below neck to ankles by the time I’m 50. Another advantage of getting older, I know what you want more so than when I was 21.

10.) What are you working on next?
  • Currently book 2 in Imagine Ink. I think I will see these guys through to the end of the series before moving on. (If they take me past 4 books, so be it.) I have devoted about 5 years to another series (all the ideas, but only got a crappy draft of book 1), a paranormal/fantasy romance series, and if that’s the next to speak up, I may dust that off and work on it. However, if I’m driven in a different direction instead, I’ll grab some snacks, hope in the back and enjoy the ride.
