Before Him Comes Me

The march to the Center Circle is long, each step taking Zara closer to her unknown future. The weight of the dress presses upon her like a reminder that her life is not her own and in a very short time, that ownership will be given to a man who was chosen not just by her father, but by council of the Community. Once this man, this stranger, enters the Circle and places the collar around Zara’s neck, he will become not only her Dom, but her husband as well.
One step behind her father, Zara carefully places one foot in front of the other. She passes children dressed in their very best, always in training and sitting still under the watchful eyes of her Community. Their eyes are lowered to the white carpet laid specifically for tonight’s ceremony, but Zara knows from experience that quick peeks are being sneaked as she strides by.
Zara’s catches a glimpse of Sloane in a pale blue dress sitting with all of the other single females of the community. Zara catches her wink and sees her cross her fingers in a silent signal of solidarity.
Sloane and Zara had talked about this day for months. With Sloane’s ceremony only four months after Zara’s, it had been a hot topic. While both are nervous, Sloane had an air of excitement when she had talked about her life-changing event while Zara had rued her loss of freedom. Only Sloane knows Zara would rather be walking down a different path tonight and she would always keep that secret safe.
Once inside the center of the ceremony Circle, Zara’s father turns and places a kiss on each of her cheeks. He does not see the tears being held at bay. Years of training allow Zara to maintain her line of vision straight down to the floor in front of her.
He gives the command to take her presentation position. Zara is well versed in the steps of the Circle ceremony. Her position as daughter of a King Council member has required her attendance at all ceremonies since the age of five.
Her mother rushes to adjust the gown. There is nothing left to do but wait for the inevitable. Zara concentrates on breathing. Years of training have prepared her to maintain her position motionless for as long as necessary.

Interview With Alexandria Sure:

  1. Can you tell us a little about your book?
Before Him Comes Me is a coming of age unconventional romance.
Faced with an unexpected choice, a simple nod is all it will take to change the course of Zara's life.
Bound to a life predetermined by the restrictive traditions of her community, Zara is offered a glimmer of hope by a complete stranger, a man selected for her. She can choose to walk away from the life she has been trained for.
  1. When did you know you wanted to write a book?
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I had what it would take to write a book. EVER!!!! My mother writes beautifully and makes it looks easy. My brother also writes, although he has recently put that aside to follow a different path. When I read their words, and other people’s as well, the words danced on the page with life. I could not get mine to do that … ever.
My love for words and my obsession for authors … I would tell my authors friends these story ideas that I had and ask them to please write them for me. Last year, one of my friends says, “You write the fucking story!” So I did.
  1. Which book is your most recently published?
Before Him Comes Me is my debut novel. It will release on November 19th.
  1. If you could spend 24 hours as a fictional character, who would you chose?
Pretty Woman, after she gave him directions, she seemed to have a banging ass week.
  1. Do you work with an outline, or just write?
Outline … then it gets thrown out the window once I am in the thick of it all
  1. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
My home office. I sit on a HORRIBLE dining room chair. I joke that a new office chair is the first thing I will purchase when I ‘hit it big’.
  1. What do you do when you are not writing?
I work full-time. So … there is not a lot of extra time. I squeeze family and friends in when I am able. Luckily, they are supportive of my writing.
  1. What writing projects are you currently working on?
LOL … I have a full plate!!!! Currently, I am working hard to get all the pieces into place for the launch of Before Him Comes Me. The online release party is November 19 & my hometown release party is December 8th.
NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) begins November 1st and it was an amazing experience last year. I am planning to have my next book completely outlined (cough … yeah right) and ready to go. NaNo is a blast … 50K words in 30days.
What’s Come Up!!!
On October 22, the talented JL Sins’ new release Saving Alexia will feature a chapter in the back from Before Him Comes Me.
On October 24, I have two poems featured in Elias Raven’s new release The Painted Shadows.
Mr. Elias Raven has an incredible novel debuting very soon, Cain- Sins Of The Father. I will have a different chapter in the back of that release as well. Release date to be announced.
On November 19th, Before Him Comes Me goes live.
