Interview With Alexandria Bishop:

1. Can you tell us a little about your book?
I've always been a huge fan of rock star romance novels. But I wanted to do something unique and combine my favorite genre of music, pop punk, with the rock star novel. I also wanted to take the reader through the journey that the band goes through. From being up and coming to becoming rock stars. Each book in the series will focus on a different guy from the band but we'll also get to watch the band grow.

2. How was it to push publish on your first book?
Oh man, I was a complete wreck that day. My body skipped the butterflies and went straight to bats. I was nervous and excited. I think the only time I've ever cried so much in my life was when I was pregnant. To say my emotions went haywire would be a complete understatement. With that being said I'm loving every minute of this journey and can't wait to hit publish on 20+ more books in the future!

3. When did you know you wanted to write a book?
This has been a crazy journey for me. A few years ago I was the sole provider for my family and suddenly laid off. I was a store manager in retail and I took a job with a small business. Without going into too much detail, the owners needed an experienced person to get their store up and running and that was it.

I went into a deep depression after that and fortunately my husband found a job quickly after that. I've always been a bookworm but it had been awhile since I'd read and started picking up books again. I walked to the library almost everyday to devour book after book. Then I found about Goodreads and started finding out about indie authors and I started devouring their books.

I went through a student/teacher romance phase and I was reading everything I could. To backtrack a little, I've always wanted to be a writer. When I was in middle school I wrote for my schools newspaper and I was a co-editor one year. But when I went to high school I realized I wanted to write more creatively and I had my heart set on becoming a screenwriter. I've always been a huge movie fan but screenwriting is pretty technical I might try my hand at it someday after some classes but for now I'm happy where I'm at.

So flash forward to devouring books. I started getting ideas for my own student/teacher romance. I sat down and just started writing and whipped out 10,000 words. Then I pushed it off to the side and never did anything with it. Fats forward a couple of years and I was back to working and pregnant. I was still avidly reading but one night in bed I had this scene pop into my head that I had to get out. It was the middle of the night and my husband thought I was crazy as I was waddling around looking for pen and paper.

I wrote that scene and absolutely loved everything about it. You know what I did next? I put off to the side and didn't touch it. Until I picked it back up last September and decided I had to do something with it. That first scene I wrote is the start to the second chapter in Finding Flynn. It's come a long way since the way I originally wrote it but I think it's still my favorite scene in the entire book. I'll include it down below.

Woo! Apparently I had to answer that one with a novel.

4. Do you ever experience writer's block?
Absolutely. I've been experiencing it lately with writing Falling for Hudson (Marlowe  series #2). But not writing isn't an option for me. I love doing it. Sometimes I get my best thinking while taking a shower so if I really need to get a scene out, I'll go shower. Or I'll step back and read for a bit. I listen to music when I'm writing though so that helps a lot with getting inspiration. I create a playlist for each book I'm writing. I'll include a few here:

Summer from Hell (Ashtyn's playlist she creates for her summer)

Somewhere other than Hell (playlist that Flynn makes for Ashtyn)

Falling for Hudson (this is what I've currently got on repeat)

If you can't tell, I'm a huge All Time Low fan and they always make an appearance on my playlists. "Somewhere in Neverland" gave me a lot of inspiration for Finding Flynn and really helped me write that book.

5. Do you work with an outline, or just write?
With Finding Flynn and Falling for Hudson I was a 100% pantser. I didn't plan anything and just went with it. I also experienced a lot of writer's block and missed out on writing time trying to figure out how to fit everything together. Because I also wrote out of order and just wrote scenes as they came to me. I never outlined when I wrote papers ever and I thought they were a waste of time. However a secret project that I've been working on has been completely different. I have half of it already outlined and I'm loving knowing where everything is going to go. I might be turning into a plotter :)

6. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
I'd love to say that I have an amazing office that gives me so much inspiration. But in reality I write with my laptop at my kitchen table. Some nights I'll get a little crazy and move to the couch. It's pretty glamourous. ;)

7. What do you do when you are not writing?
Any chance I get I'm with family. My daughter is almost 2 so it's been really fun  watching her grow up so far :) Other than that I do a lot of reading and the occasional date night with my husband. And although I don't get to go very often, I love going to concerts. I'm seeing All Time Low for the first time this October and I'm super excited for that! Most of the time I'm pretty boring and spend all of my free time at home.

8. What writing projects are you currently working on?
So many projects. The one you'll see the soonest is Falling for Hudson (Marlowe series #2). I'm expecting to publish that early 2016. Next up on the list is Marlowe series #3. But I've also got the secret project one close backburner that I'm working on. It will be the start of another series and I'm really excited to start working on that.
