Fight Me (Rivers Edge book 2):

Jake Stevens has it made. A local police officer with an open invitation to any number of beds around town, Jake has no desire to settle down with any of the ladies he entertains by night. After watching his best friend fall in love with his little sister, Jake is certain that love and marriage just aren’t in his cards. Heck, he’s not even playing with the same deck.

After Jake encounters a blast from the past one night, he finds himself swimming in uncharted waters. For the first time, Jake has found a woman he can’t get out of his mind. The kicker? The woman wants nothing to do with him.

Erin Anderson returns to the small Missouri town of Rivers Edge for a job after a twenty year absence. Erin spent years loathing the memory of Jake Stevens for his cruelness back in seventh grade. Now, Jake appears to be the same self-centered player he was in junior high, and no one seems to be able to push her button the way the cocky, yet devastatingly handsome cop does.

Between circumstances that keep thrusting them together and Jake’s persistence to annoy her, Erin struggles to fight her growing feelings for Jake. But, can Erin get past the hurt she felt all those years ago at the hands of a young Jake? Can Jake show Erin that what they have is worth fighting for?

Jase Bentley is worn out. As lead singer of the award winning rock band, Bent, Jase has everything he could possibly ever want at his fingertips. Interview with Lacey Black:
1 Can you tell us a little about your books?
I love, love romance books! I fell in love with Danielle Steel when I was younger and I always said that if I could write, I would write books like hers. So, when I finally decided to sit down and write some of the things in my head, I stuck with my hopeless romantic side. The Rivers Edge series is a family-based romance series. I wanted that classic love story where the guys work and fight for their woman (and vise versa). Each book in the series is the love story of a different family member who all reside in the fictional town of Rivers Edge, Missouri. This family is very close. Their parents are still very involved in their lives and play active rolls in the stories. I will warn you that I have a potty mouth (pretty sure I was a sailor in a previous life) and that my sexy scenes are detailed. The scene doesn't stop when the bedroom door closes (or bathroom, car door, living room, etc).  There are currently 3 full novels released and a novella (released on 4/23/15). There are two more books in the works for later this year in this series so that each sibling receives their story.

2 What book did you enjoy writing the most?
Trust Me, book 1 in the series. It was my baby; the one that started it all. I didn't know if I was actually going to publish it. I knew I just needed to write it. The words flowed so fast when I wrote that book. It was challenging since I had never written something of novel caliber before, but so rewarding that I finished something that I had started. My goal with publishing it was to sell 100 books. I mean, come on - 100 books! That would have been so cool, even if half of them were purchased by my family! The success of this book still astonishes me! Trust Me spend over 6 weeks in the Top 100 for Contemporary Romance on Amazon's Best Sellers List! 6 freaking weeks! Each of the books to follow spent a certain amount of time there as well. That still blows me away to think about.

3 Do you have a favorite character to write about?
Not a favorite character, per say. More of a favorite type. I love strong, alpha males who are blindsided by a woman. You know, the one they never saw coming. They're carrying on with their fun-loving, playboy life when BAM! A female knocks them on their ass (sometimes literally - wait for book 4 in the Rivers Edge series). That's my favorite and you'll see that theme throughout some of my books.

4 Do you have a favorite spot to write?
Right now, I'm still on my old desktop computer. *sigh - maybe you can all put in a good word for me with Mr. Black. Mother's Day is coming up!* So, I write in the back of the living room and try to ignore the cartoons blaring from the TV in the front of the room or the Nerf dart that sails by my head.

5 Do you have any “odd” writing habits?
No really odd, but I have to take my rings off as soon as I sit down at the computer. My fingers get cold when I'm typing for long periods of time, and then the rings start to turn which just pisses me off. Mr. Black says it's because I try to forget I'm married while I'm writing sexy scenes with a smokin' hot hero!

6 Do you listen to music while you write?
Honestly, I never understood this. Wouldn't music be distracting? Then, one day I was writing a scene that required some dance music. So, I brought up trusty ol' YouTube and started searching. Next thing I know, I'm rocking out to Poison while writing the scene. Now, if I'm alone, I'll bring up some classic rock and keep it low while I write.

7 When did you know you wanted to write a book?
March 2014! I had the basics of the Rivers Edge series in my head for a few years before I actually sat down and started writing. I never thought I'd actually write it. I am an avid reader, so who was gonna have time to add writing to my full-time work schedule, raising two kids, taking care of a house, and sleeping? One day, I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I believe it was a Saturday so I just brought up a blank Word Document and stared at it. I had no clue what to do. I didn't even lay out the storyline. I just started typing. Next thing I know, I have several pages that composed an actual scene. I emailed it to my BFF and she said to keep going. From there, Trust Me was born, and I knew I had to give life to the rest of the brothers.

8 What was the last book you read?
Very Bad Things by Ilsa Madden-Mills

9 What are writing projects are you currently working on?
I started a brand new trilogy a few weeks ago! I am SUPER excited about this project!! My street team and I were having a conversation a few weeks ago about story lines where there is a surprise baby. While I wrote about that in Expect Me (Rivers Edge book 3), I had an idea to do a stand alone book about it. But the more I talked with my Ladies, I realized I had three different stories playing out in front of me and I couldn't choose one! So, I decided to give life to all 3! I don't have a name for the trilogy or book titles yet, but the common theme will be a surprise baby for our hero. Book 1 is going so well! I already have over 50,000 words in it in just over 2 weeks!! And yes, I still work full time. I just forgo sleep.
