DB Jones lives in the hills of Virginia and sits at her desk overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains where she loves writing of vivid fantasy worlds for the young at heart, but also enjoys writing mysterious adventures of intrigue, suspense and murder for her Mystery Series. She says the diversity challenges her imagination.
Before writing she and her husband composed and recorded melodic flute music for over 30 years until he passed away in 2002.
DB’s love of the creative side of life led her into music, painting and then writing. She only anticipated writing the one story that had lain in the back of her mind since childhood, but once she started hammering away at the keyboard, she discovered there were many other characters screaming to have their spot-light on the page.
Her first novel was the beginning of a Fantasy trilogy, Willow of Endless Waters, but it didn’t take long after that until she burst onto the pages of Mystery and Romance.
DB loves sitting on her patio sipping wine with friends and family and watching her Koi rambling in and out of the many caves and grasses that fill her pond.

1. Can you tell us a little about your books?
I recently finished the Seasons of Passion Mystery Series, and though it is a series, each book in this series stand alone.

2. Which book has been your favorite to write?
Though I love writing in many genres, plotting and writing a good mystery challenges me the most. I enjoy the adventure of intrigue, suspense, passion among my characters and what they do. So I’d have to say my favorite, at present time, is Mystery. My favorite book is always the one I’m working on. At the present time, I’m writing Beyond Secrets. The first novel of the Madison Hart Mysteries
3. What inspires you to write?
I write because I have to. The stories and characters fill my every waking, and sometimes sleeping, moment. I love the challenge of diversity in my stories that challenge my imagination.
I think people enjoy my books, not only for the mystery, but the fact that through my descriptions of the places and people in the books, puts the reader right with the characters in a believable setting. The reader becomes a part of their lives in every way, and they like that.
4. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
Since I’m an early bird, I will often start my day at around 4:30 in the morning with a cup of coffee and the news. Then, if I don’t have to go to my day job, I head directly to my “cozy corner”, my study, my office and my sanctuary. My desk faces the Blue Ridge Mountains, so I sit welcoming the sun as it rises over the landscape and hammer away, living the lives of my characters through my books.
5. What do you do when you are not writing?
I love to garden, read, visit with family and friends, and plot out my next book. I enjoy observing people and imagine them as a character in one of my books, or drive around looking for that next exciting and mysterious setting that will meet the needs of my story.
6. Do you ever experience writer’s block?
I would be lying if I said I have never had writer’s block, and I can’t believe there are many writers that have not experienced it, but when I do, I do two things. One, I’ll walk away from my project for a while and do something totally unrelated to my book, or I may just start writing anything about anything. If neither of those techniques works, then I call it a day, relax and join my characters the next day.
7. Do You work with an outline, or just write?
With the first book I ever wrote, I just started writing. I had the whole storyline running through my mind constantly. But since then, I use a plot board to help me organize my scenes, timelines and research.
8. What's the last book you read?
James Patterson’s “Cross Your Heart”. I hate to say it, but there have been so many things going on in my life at this point, I have not been able to just sit down and read, as I would like too. But am in the middle of an Addison Holms book by Liliana Hart.
9. What are writing projects are you currently working on?
I recently finished the Seasons of Passion Mystery Series, so now I have time to devote to my new collection: The Madison Hart Mysteries. I’m almost finished with first book, Beyond Secrets, about a tenacious FBI agent that gets caught up in an investigation of a series of missing persons, but she soon finds that it is much more than that…She catapulted into someone’s dark, twisted obsession that puts her own life in peril.

I also have a young adult Fantasy Trilogy I’m working on. I’ve completed the first two books and am in the process of the final book. I’m hoping to have it finished the end of this year of the beginning of 2016.
