Synopsis:

Stella Sullivan

Bright. Dedicated. Loyal.

The day I walked into his boardroom, I had no idea my life was about to change forever. It was supposed to be a simple proposal that would catapult my career. The chance to help Hurst & McCoy save one of their flailing business lines seemed simple enough. However, I never expected that one look at Maxwell McCoy would have me grasping for control. He’s demanding, charming, powerful; most of all he’s beautiful, inside and out. As hard as I fought against the attraction, he broke down my defenses. But he’s hiding things. Even when secrets, lies, and greed threaten everything I have worked so hard for, I couldn’t walk away. There’s no denying, the moment my eyes landed on Maxwell McCoy was the moment I became his.

Maxwell McCoy

Rich. Brilliant. Powerful.

People only see me as CEO of Hurst & McCoy. The ruthless businessman whose mere presence demands respect. People don’t know I chose to leave a life I loved in order to protect my father’s legacy and reputation. When my company’s future was threatened, I had no choice but to seek assistance. The day Stella Sullivan walked into my boardroom was the day my heart started beating again. One business proposal, from the topaz-eyed beauty, changed my life. She tried to deny our unyielding chemistry, but I wouldn’t. I should let her go, but I didn’t.

The smokescreen I created soon comes crashing down, forcing me to fight for everything I love.

*Due to graphic language and explicit sexual situations, this book is recommended for readers 18+.

About Ahren Sanders:
Ahren spent her formative years living in an active volcano. There her family made collectible lava art. She studied rock collecting at the Sorbonne in France. There she met the love of her life-her pet pig Sybil. She returned to the states and started writing. She is happily married to a guy who used to live under a bridge and she met while pole-dancing. They have one amazing daughter.
Now, meet the real me. I grew up in the south and consider myself a true “Southerner”. Most of the special locations mentioned in my books are reflections of my favorite places. Living on the Florida coast, my family spends a lot time at the beach which is where I usually can be found with a book in my hand. I started writing my Surrender Series, in the spring of 2013 and have received incredible support from the Indie community. Throughout this year, I have been privileged to meet some amazing people that I am thankful to have in my life.

Interview with Ahren Sanders:

1. Can you tell us a little about your books?
When I finished my fourth book, Smokescreen, I realized what my style is. In each of my stories, you will find a strong, independent female character that is able to power through difficult issues and stand on her own. My males have tough exteriors, but fall hard. The secondary characters are extremely developed and carry an important part of the story. My writing is truly in the Contemporary Romance Genre. I can’t find the inspiration to write dark, angst, or infidelity. As I continue to develop and mature, things may change, but as it stands now, my books will generally have an HEA.

2. What was your favorite character to write about?
This is a hard question- Whew! Raven Hayes and Declan Collins from the Surrender Series were the first to voices to characters. I tried very hard to be realistic throughout their story and the way deception and miscommunication could ruin even the deepest connection between couples. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but when Surviving picks up where Surrendering left off, I had to dig deep to bring the broken emotions to the characters. It was challenging and devastating and I found myself in tears writing the first ten chapters. SO I can’t say they are my favorite, but they are definitely the two I spent the most time with.

3. Using one sentence, describe Smokescreen.
Smokescreen is a sexy, sensual, corporate romance with a sense of mystery and intrigue.

4. Will there be more books in the Surrender series?
Yes, I am currently working on the third book in the series. It is a standalone story about Robbie Hayes.

5. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
Absolutely! If the weather cooperates, I love sitting on my back porch with my laptop.

6. Do you listen to music while you write?
Yes, about 90% of the time I’ll have Pandora playing. My taste varies with stations but you will find anything from Pearl Jam to Kenny Chesney on my favorite stations.

7. Do you have a favorite food or drink nearby when writing?
Ha! My answer is boring! I’m a diehard ice water girl. As for snacks, my favorite indulgence is Twizzlers. I only allow myself to buy them once in a while because I can literally eat a whole package in a day.

8. When did you know you wanted to write a book?
The idea of Surrendering started forming in my head in early 2013. I was hesitant at first, not knowing if I was brave enough to publish it. But as the story continued to unfold I decided to give it a shot.

9. What's one random fact about yourself that you can share?
My favorite book of all time is ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’. About once a year I do a re-read and every time, I cry.

10. What are writing projects are you currently working on?
My current WIP is unnamed but as I mentioned it is the third in the Surrender series. Once that is done, I will be writing Staying on Course. This is the continuation of the Finding Our Way novella that was originally published in the Intrigue Anthology.
