Accept this Dandelion by Brooke Williams
Clean romantic comedy

Blurb:
  • Renee Lockhart has her eye on a lofty goal…to fill the open position of morning radio show host at the radio station where she works.  When her co-workers sign her up for a local TV version of “the Bachelor,” Renee goes along with it in order to raise her public profile.  Ben McConnell, the most eligible bachelor in town, insists that Renee be placed on the show, despite her bumbling audition.  Ben gets much more than he expected in Renee.  He gets a girl who doesn’t bow to his every whim…and a girl who opens his eyes to true, unexpected love. When nothing goes right on the local program called "Accept this Dandelion"...hilarity ensues. Imagine your worst possible dates happening...on TV!

Short excerpt:
Renee leaned way over in her chair, throwing her arm up beside her for dramatic effect. She had the perfect line to close her short ad, but instead of delivering it, she flung one of the flickering candles to the floor with a loud crash. “Fire!” she screamed as she realized the flame had not extinguished, but rather transferred itself to the hem of her dress.
Before Renee could stop, drop, and roll, Ben leapt from his chair and threw himself across the small space separating them. The pressure of his body against her leg put out the fire instantly, but it also toppled her chair over, leaving them in a heap on the concrete.

Author bio:
  • Brooke Williams is a sleep deprived stay at home mom/freelance writer/author. She attributes her humor to her two young children for keeping her in the lack of sleep realm on a permanent basis. Brooke is a former radio announcer and producer who also did a brief stint as a TV traffic reporter. She has been married to her husband since 2002, but since he seldom laughs at her jokes, she had to start writing to get them out. Brooke writes novels as well as articles and other items for clients on a freelance basis during the one hour a day her daughters allow her the time. Check some of her other novels, which include “Someone Always Loved You,” and “Wrong Place Right Time.”

Interview with Brooke Williams:

1. Can you tell us a little about your books?
In the past, I’ve written a little of everything. From family dramas to thrillers. Now, I’m focusing more on romantic comedy. I’ve found a good balance in this genre. I want to give readers a break from everyday stresses. Read one of my books and you’ll have a smile on your face and laughter in your heart.

2. Can you describe Accept This Dandelion using one sentence?
Imagine your worst date ever happening on TV….

3. Do you have a favorite charterer to rite about?
Usually whichever one I’m writing at that moment! Haha. I always identify with the female characters, probably because I make them a lot like me. I feel sorry for them, in a way, but at the same time it’s fun to make awful things happen to them and have them bumble their way through various incidents.

4. What inspires you to write?
Everyday life! I see something, hear something, it might spark another thought and off I go! ”Accept this Dandelion” was completely inspired by the Bachelor TV show…and the idea of someone more like me on such a show…

5. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
My computer is stationary in between the kitchen and family room. So that’s my only option! I do have a laptop, but I like the computer so much more. IT’s got a really big screen so I can have several things up and operating at once.

6. Do you have any “odd” writing habits?
Maybe the fact that I type about as fast as I think. When I worked in radio, my boss walked by my office one time and caught me typing. He came in and was like, there’s no way you’re typing real words. You have to just be typing random letters. So he came and looked. Real words. But he’s a hunt and pecker so maybe my fast typing is only impressive to him.

7. Do you listen to music while you write?
Somewhat, but not on purpose. Let me explain. I only write when my daughters are napping in the afternoon. I have the monitor nearby and I have music playing in their rooms to knock out any sounds that might come in and disturb them. So I hear the music that plays in their room through the monitor. But I prefer mostly a quiet writing setting. The day is so filled with their chatter that when they’re asleep, silence it nice!

8. What are writing projects are you currently working on?
I have another romantic comedy coming out in August called Mamarazzi about a female paparazzo who stumbles on a TV set and gets thrown onto the show. I also have a short Christmas story called “Backwards Christmas” coming out the next holiday season. And then in June 2016, I have a children’s book coming out. That one’s called “Baby Sheep Gets a Haircut.” I have plenty of ideas for series so I’m not sure where I’ll head next or when!

9. Are you doing any Author Signing Event this year?
As many as I can line up! I’m really excited my local Hy-Vee is hosting a release party for “Accept this Dandelion” on March 7th. I will also be attending several local library local author events as well as some in surrounding towns.

10. What book did you enjoy writing the most and why?
I think the first book I ever wrote, “Someone Always Loved You” was one of the most enjoyable books. Probably because it was my first. After that, I’d have to rank “Accept this Dandelion” at the top. I giggled all the way through and looked forward to what I would put the characters through next.
