rescue a stranded whale. Watching her work, he realizes she’s the
passionate, courageous woman he thought he’d never find–he just
has to overcome her deep distrust of jocks. Jackie’s passion and
courage lead her to discover what’s killing the sea mammals. The
culprits want to silence her, and Alex is the only one standing in
their way. What will he sacrifice to save the woman he loves?

Love Bats Last is an interesting story. Jackie is a veterinarian, who works rescuing sea mammals. There is something happening that is endangering the sea life. Alex is a baseball player and vineyard owner. Alex takes a liking to Jackie. Jackie fights their attraction because her ex who let her at the alter was a professional soccer player.
I liked how Alex had to slowly earn Jackie's heart. It's not love a first sight and Jackie makes Alex proof that he is not like her ex.
There are a lot of things going on in this story. We gain a little knowledge of sea life, vineyards, and baseball from this story. It's more than just a sports romance novel. There is also a mystery and suspense. Overall, Love Bats Last is a good read and there is no cliffhanger.
