No Regrets

If life ever taught me anything, it’s that nothing should be taken for granted.
One moment is all it takes to break a promise.
Friendship becomes love
One second is all it takes to end a life.
Love becomes pain
One distraction is all it took to change our destiny.
Pain becomes hate
One moment. One second. One distraction.
Hate becomes consuming
I’m in love with my best friend and that one second changed everything.

Interview With Aimee Noalane

  1. What inspires you to write?
I can’t explain where my ideas come from, but music plays a good part in my inspiration. The lyrics and the melody help me get into my emotions. I have different playlists depending on the type of scene I’m trying to write.
  1. When did you know you wanted to write a book?
I didn’t, I never believed I had any talent for literature .When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I would get a kick out of writing erotic short stories, but nothing ever came out of it. I just stuck everything in a drawer, and never looked at them again.
The idea for No Regrets came one morning when I woke up from a vivid dream about Abby and Oliver. For two days I couldn’t stop thinking about them. They were in my head talking to each other, driving me insane with their incessant bickering. I had to make them stop, so I did what I thought would help; I took out a pencil, sheets of paper and wrote until they would shut up. I’m so happy they never did. Hahaha!
  1. What is a usual writing day like for you, how is it structured?
Structure? Ha! That’s funny. Um, I have no structure at all. I have three kids of my own and foster two teenagers, so my job mainly consists of taking care of my family. Whatever time I have left, I sit in front of my computer and work on my book. I don’t have a schedule. I write when the ideas pop into my head, and I do it because it’s fun. I’m probably one of the most disorganized authors ever. Up until a month ago, I had never set a timeline for myself.
Today, things are different though. I need to learn how to separate my time between social media, promoting myself, looking at pictures, writing and editing. To be honest it’s not easy, but I’m learning.
  1. Do you have a favorite spot to write?
Inspiration hits me at the most bizarre places and the worst timing ever. It’s very common for my ideas to pop up while I’m in the bathroom, or while I’m driving. Unfortunately, I easily get lost in my thoughts and lose track of time when that happens. As for the writing itself, I don’t have a favorite spot. I can work at my office desk, the kitchen table or the living room sofa, to me there is no difference where I’m sitting as long as I have my headphones over my ears to maintain my concentration.
  1. What are writing projects are you currently working on?
I’m working on two different projects right now. Writing my first draft of Transcending Regrets, book three of the No Regrets series, is my main focus. I am also working on a new romance standalone that I’m really excited about.
Since Living with Regrets will be coming back from my editor very soon, I will be setting both projects aside and work on the final edits in the next few days. If everything goes as planned, it will be out December 28.

Series: 7 Brides for 7 Brothers #5

Blurb

Meet the Brannigan brothers—seven sexy brothers who bring the heart and the heat! From bestselling authors Barbara Freethy, Ruth Cardello, Melody Anne, Christie Ridgway, Lynn Raye Harris, Roxanne St. Claire and JoAnn Ross comes a brand new contemporary romance family series: 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. You won't want to miss a single one!

MAX - Lynn Raye Harris

Former Navy SEAL Max Brannigan is a loner with a strong protective streak and an ocean of survivor’s guilt that drives him to take risks no sane man would take. When he gets the news his billionaire father died and left him a horse farm in Kentucky, he’s busy protecting American military contractors in a war zone. The first moment he’s able, he’ll fly back to the US and dispose of the farm. What does a man like him need horses for anyway? Of all the things his father could have left him, this certainly ranks up there as the most bizarre.

Elinor Applegate lives for her horses, but life on the farm isn’t easy. Once-thriving Applegate Farm has fallen on hard times in the past few years. Only an influx of cash from her mother’s old friend enabled Ellie to keep the family operation going. All her hopes to turn around the business and buy back the land lie on the hooves of a colt destined to greatness. She’s just got to get him there first.

But when sexy, ruthless, infuriating Max Brannigan shows up, Ellie realizes her troubles are far worse than she thought. He knows nothing about horses—and he cares less than nothing about her dreams. To Max, the horses are useless and have to go—in spite of the fact that every encounter with Ellie only makes him want to drag her into his arms and kiss the fire right out of her. But Ellie will fight hard to keep her dreams alive, even if she has to fight dirty. Max has spent most of his life protecting people from danger—but can he protect himself when Ellie launches a full-scale assault against the walls surrounding his heart?

“You don’t know a thing about me, Miss Applegate,” he said coolly. “Not a goddamn thing. And I don’t know a thing about you, but I’m not blind. You have nothing more than some fancy prancing horses here, and while I don’t know much about horses, I’m pretty sure those can’t bring in much money. Not like racehorses. I suggest you cut your losses while you can and find a smaller place where you can keep a couple of animals and continue doing whatever it is you do with them.”

“Whatever it is—” She shook her head as if to clear it. Then she stood, her entire body vibrating with anger. And, yeah, it was wrong of him, but there was something slightly exhilarating about her anger. Her eyes flashed fire and her chin quivered before she clamped down on her reaction. “You need to leave now, Mr. Brannigan. Get off my property and stay off. You can send your realtors and you can list my farm, but I’m not cooperating with any of it until I call my lawyer and find out exactly what you can and can’t do. I have a mortgage and I’m not in default—and I’m not accepting your word as the final authority just yet.”

Max towered over her as he rose from the couch. “First of all, it’s my property. Second, I’ve got some bad news for you, sweetheart,” he said, and her eyes narrowed. Whether it was the bad news or the sarcastic endearment causing it, he didn’t know. And he really didn’t care. “Or maybe it’s good news to you. I can’t sell this farm for a year from the date of my father’s death without your agreement—”

She sucked in a breath, and he knew she was surprised. But he kept going before she could respond.

“—But I also own this place. So long as I do, I’m not staying in a hotel.”

Outrage shone from her eyes. “You can’t stay here.”

He took a step toward her. She didn’t flinch or back down. He admired that about her. It fired his blood, made his heart beat faster. What was it about this woman that got beneath his skin? He didn’t know, but no way was he letting her win this round.

“Yes, I fucking can.”

Review by Gia:

Wow, No Regrets is a great read!    I was told that when I sat to read this one to have tissues near by.   I'm not a big fan of crying while reading a book so I put this one off a little bit.  I didn't need tissues but boy does this one have a lot more ups and downs then a roller coaster.
Oliver and Abbygail are awesome characters.   They are best friends who have things happen that changes the status of their friendship.   I loved them both but they are definitely character I wanted to shaking and yell at, at some points.
The ending was unexpected.   I read the ending a few times and left me wanting more.
5 Amazeballs Stars!!

“I’m afraid my granddaughter has forgotten her manners,” Nana said, sticking out her hand. “You must be Beau.”

I clenched my jaw. Her casual mention of his name, as if his identity was the most obvious thing in the world, had to have made it clear I’d been talking about him. That was the last thing I wanted him to know. Still, it was too late to change it. “Sorry, Beau, this is my nana, uh, Kelly Reede.”

“Nice to meet you, Mrs Reede. I can see where Phoebe got her enchanting eyes.”

“It’s Ms actually. It has been ever since I left my husband for his constant cheating.”

I wanted the ground to tear apart and swallow me whole. For half a second, I debated trying to fake a sudden and unexpected emergency just to get out of the room. She’d stuck with Granddad for a long time after the first time he’d cheated, but with Dad’s help had eventually found the strength to leave. After that, her confidence had only blossomed and she’d grown more and more like Dad all the time. Now, she often said the thoughts that crossed her mind without thinking through all of the consequences.

Beau’s eyes narrowed. “Well, I guess it’s not just the eyes that run in the family,” he muttered under his breath. He shook off the mood an instant later. “It was lovely to meet you, Ms Reede. It’s always nice getting any insight into our Phoebe. She’s a bit of an enigma.”

It was Nana’s turn to frown as her gaze spun to me. “That’s odd, because we’ve always found her to be a straight shooter, just like her Dad.”

“Maybe it’s just us guys she likes to play ’round with.”

My hands found my hips. “Maybe she’s in the fucking room and you should both stop talking about her like she’s not.”

“Phoebe!” Nana exclaimed.

Beau’s gaze was fixed on me, his lips curled up into a snarl. He dropped the expression a second later when he turned back to Nana. “Don’t worry about it, Ms Reede. I’m used to her gutter mouth. She’s turned it on me often enough. Haven’t ya, darlin’?”

I wanted to turn it on him again. My fingers clenched and unclenched at my side. “If there’s nothing else you wanted, I think we’ll be going now.”

“Actually, I was hopin’ to have a word or two with ya alone.” Beau’s gaze turned from me back to my nana. “If ya don’t mind. It won’t take a minute.”

I could feel Nana’s gaze passing between Beau and me. “Not at all,” she said after a moment. “I’ll go sign myself out and wait in the car.”

It would have been so much easier if she’d said no. If she’d demanded my undivided attention while she was in the country. Instead, a minute later I was face-to-face with Beau.

Alone.
