Review of Tempering Steel by Lea Barrymire

Tempering Steel

Tempering Steel

by
After months of aching to be with grumpy Sheriff Connor Manning, Margarete Barrie finally gets her chance when a coyote shifter takes refuge in her home. She burns with need every time they’re close, but even she can only take rejection so many times before giving up.

Connor’s resolve to stay away from Margie weakens when she takes in his packmate. Fighting his inner animal and jealousy makes him question his decision to leave women and love alone.

They’re thrown together to catch a trapper or hunter threatening the pack. But once things start to heat up even the possibility of danger doesn’t cool the tension between them.

Review by Gia:
Tempering Steel is book two in the Coyote Bluff.   Tempering Steel can be read as a standalone.  It was suggested to read the books in order to get the full background story but I didn't see that to after I read Tempering Steel.   I didn't read  Accidentally Yours and I did not get lost with the story line in Tempering Steel.  Tempering Steel is a cute quick read.  It's a paranormal read and it was just the break I needed.
Tempering Steel is  Connor Manning and Margarete (Margie) Barrie's story.   Connor Manning is Coyote sifter.   He is pure alpha and very sexy.  I loved how Margie refers to him as Big Bad Coyote-Shifting Sheriff.   Margie is not a shifter.  she is the town veterinarian.  Connor and Margie have a lot of sexual tension between them.  Connor fights it and sometimes comes off as a jerk.   When Connor and Margie give in to the sexual tension there are some steamy scenes.
This is a great story.  Lea Barrymire writes wonderfully and I felt like I was transported to the town of Coyote Bluff while reading it.  I am definitely going to read more of the Coyote Bluff series.

About the Author:
Lea lives in Western New York with her hubby, three children, and miscellaneous critters. Before the rugrats, she lived a life of adventure, following her husband all over Europe with the US military. She’s slept in a car outside Paris, drove six hours just to see tulips in the Netherlands, and knocked ash from her shoes at Pompeii. Now she spends her time in life’s adventures at soccer games, PTA meetings and school plays.

Lea has loved reading from a very young age, spending many sleepless nights devouring books. Science fiction and paranormal were her favorite genres to read as a teenager, and that love bled into her adult life. She started writing during a bout of insomnia, to fill time, and found it filled a creative void. Now she communes regularly with the characters in her head and tries not to laugh out loud when they say something funny.

When Lea isn’t reading, writing or corralling kids, she enjoys watching movies and sciencey shows, or just kicking back and listening to some music.

Review for Red Dahlia by Vivian Winslow

Title: Red Dahlia
Author: Vivian Winslow
Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: December 03, 2014

Blurb

Having discovered her mother’s and Shane’s devastating betrayal, a determined Dahlia seeks to find what was taken from her and to chart a new life for herself. With the help of Vi’s friend, Englishman Thomas Squires, a dashing and enigmatic clandestine operative, Dahlia chases leads across London and Paris. Will Dahlia be able to right the wrong and allow herself to love again?

Review by Gia:

Red Dahlia is the final part of Dahlia's story.  I really enjoyed reading it.  Red Dahlia picks up where Black Dahlia left off.   I loved reading how Dahlia handles the information in the letter Shane left her.  I didn't really like the direction Dahlia was going in Black Dahlia but in this one we see a lot of growth in Dahlia's character.
I was a little disappointed we didn't get Rodrigo in Black Dahlia.   I was excited when we shows up in this one.  Their meeting didn't go as I had hoped.  He kind of gives her the cold shoulder at first.   But in the end I loved the decisions they made about their relationship.
Vi is a great friend to Lily and Dahlia and I can't wait to read her story.

She currently lives in New York City with her husband and two elementary school age children, and is grateful to finally have a place to call home for more than two years. New York is the perfect city to indulge her love of shopping, the arts and especially food.

If she’s not at home writing or running around the city with her kids, you’ll most likely find her indulging in pizza on the Lower East Side or having a cocktail at her favorite bar in Alphabet City. That said, she’s still a California girl at heart and would gladly trade in her heels for a pair of flip-flops to catch a sunset on the beach. .

About LaDonia Boulton:
I am a new writer working on my first book of at least 30 I have in mind to write mostly romance novels and few sci-fi romance mixed in.

Interview with LaDonia:
1) Can you tell us about your book?
P to P one is about a young woman that was abused as a child, which brought her to the state of mind relationships aren’t for her. She’ll sleep around like the boys do love’em and leave them. She never sees a man more than once and one of those men is not happy with one night only. He lets her know he’s not happy with it too. She soon finds that relationships can be hard to avoid when she sees and meets Liam and feels a magnetic pull to him. This pull scares the heck out of her.

2) Using one sentence describe Promiscuity to Promises #1.
P to P will make you wet and take you on an emotional thrill ride.

3) Will there be a Promiscuity to Promises #2?
Yes this is the first in a series of three maybe four we will see where the characters lead me.

4) What was it like hitting publish on your first book?
Liberating actually like phew done because I was struggling to finish the book at the end and my writer friend Craig Lowe gave me the push to get through.

5) Do you have a favorite spot to write?
No mostly I need a room to myself and music in my ears, I listen to a crazy variety of music rock, pop, emo, techno, etc….

6) What is your favorite food?
Really don’t have a favorite I like all different types of food but I really don’t like to eat and I would choose to eat very little if I didn’t have to cook for the family.

7) What do you enjoy the most about writing?
I enjoy writing the same way I enjoy reading. I love how it puts me in another world and takes me away from whatever chaos is going on in and around me and trust me there is plenty.

8) What's one random fact about yourself that you can share?
I’m Dyslexic, it makes me double word because I don’t see the word I just wrote on the page or words get swapped sentences flip flop or disappear words do the same it can be quite frustrating. I am currently trying and failing so far to work with the dictate program on dragon naturally speaking.

9) What's the last book you read?
Tara Oakes A Lil Less Broken

10) What writing projects are you currently working on?
I am currently working on book 2 hope to have out by summer if not late spring I’m not going to rush this one.

Reviews for Strangers for the Night (For The Night #1) and Virgin for the Night (For The Night #2) by C.J. Fallowfield

About the For The Night Series:
My name is Logan Steele. I’m devilishly handsome, seriously ripped, well hung, charismatic and highly sexed. Women just can’t resist me. So when I lost my job in the construction industry and was struggling for cash, I decided to put my assets to good use.

By day I’m a private personal fitness trainer. By night I’m a high class gigolo.

I don’t advertise my sexual services anymore, I have a long client list that come to me through word of mouth. I’m that good I’m booked months in advance. Scores of women pay me extortionately high fees to fulfil their fantasies. And for the most part I do. I have a strict set of rules that I abide by, which are provided in the full contract that you’ll receive along with the booking form, if accepted. I’ve bullet pointed an abridged version below, just so you’re clear before you send me an email request:

Rules my clients must comply with are:
I must see a picture in advance.
I can decline the booking request without explanation.
I can only be booked for the night.
All sexual acts must be consensual.
I will provide you with a report to complete, then I will choose the setting for our meeting based on your scenario.
I am flown first class or by private jet if I am required to work abroad.
In the event of the above, I will provide my dietary requirements in advance.
I will perform a full background check.
I base my variable charge on the scenario being requested.

“No” rules that I stipulate are:
No bareback.
No minors.
No physical violence.
Nothing illegal.
No form of emotional attachment during or after the event. I am merely performing a sexual or companion service.
No contact after the event, unless it is for a new booking.

And my absolute number one rule, without exception is:
Full payment up front which, is non- refundable.

There is no requirement for a refund clause, I never fail to perform.

So, now you are aware of my rules for the night and are about to contact me, all that remains to be asked is “Who do you want me to be?”

Strangers for the Night (For The Night #1)

by C.J. Fallowfield

Synopsis:

'Strangers for the Night' is Camilla Domville's idea of the perfect fantasy. Meeting a hot guy in a bar and going back to his hotel room for a night of unbridled passion, that’s if they even make it to the hotel room before Logan seduces her.

Downright raunchy, saucy and hot, Logan's sexcapade with Camilla threatens to be his last, as she's set her sights on him and is determined to be his one and only client moving forwards. But Logan's main mantra is “Never get emotionally attached to your client.”

While this works with Camilla, a booking with a future client has him looking forward to it in a way he never has before.

Review By Gia:

Wow, this is a great read!  Logan is an interesting guy.  He sexy and is great at pleasing woman.  He uses that to his advantage to make money.   He's a high class gigolo.  He is very thorough in investigating his clients.   I really liked Logan's character.   At first I was sure whether I liked him or thought he was disgusting because of his job.  In the end I fell on the side of liking him.

When we first meet him, his client is Camilla.   Camilla has all the details of her time with Logan planned to a T.   She even has where and how often they will have sex.   She has a different plan with Logan besides just sex.  Logan has a great couple guys working for him and they seem to be able to take care of things for Logan.

Strangers for the Night is a great quick read.   I'm excited to read of Logan in Virgin for the Night.

Virgin for the Night  (For The Night #2)

by C.J. Fallowfield

Synopsis:

My next client is aspiring actress Summer Beresford, whose brief for the evening is that she wants to be treated as if she’s a virgin, to be seduced and wooed. I’d already felt conflicted when I’d received her booking form detailing her scenario, as a rule I didn’t do tender gentle love making, women booked me because of my reputation for fucking, hard. To compound my dilemma, I couldn’t stop looking at her damn photograph and had even used an image of her in my mind to get hard and come with another client. Not only was that highly unprofessional of me, it was potentially hazardous to my reputation in case I groaned the wrong woman’s name. I was already treading that very fine line between professional and personal. Before I’d even met the damn woman she had me breaking one of my cardinal rules, Never fall for one of your clients. The more I looked at her photo though, the more I wanted her.

Summer Beresford, I’m about to woo your arse off and have my own virginal experience, making love for the first time.

Review by Gai:

In Strangers for the Night it took in a little bit to like Logan.  In Virgin for the Night, I not only like Logan but now I absolutely love Logan.   Logan is cocky and great at what he does.   She has just been cast in a role in a movie as a young submissive and she needs help getting into character so she requests Logan's services.  Summer requests for Logan is to “makes love to her like it is her first time".   Logan usually doesn't do sweet and tender but he's drawn to Summer.   Logan find out pretty quick the Summer is actually a virgin.

I love Logan and Summer together.   Summer and Logan definitely have crossed Logan's rules and emotions were involved.  I hope Summer pops up in Logan's life again.  I can't wait to read the next one Filthy.

WARNING: Excessive Sarcasm & Adult Language
Irreverent, twenty-something journalist, Dylan Hart, is not your average heroine. With a big butt and an even bigger mouth, she has her work cut out for her when she decides to cash-in on the blood-drained bodies of seven prostitutes scattered throughout southern California.
In an attempt to write her first bestselling novel and pay off her ever-growing student debt, Dylan begins the search for the culprit of the media-dubbed Vampire Massacres, diving head first into L.A.’s sanguinary ‘vampire’ subculture. Before long, Dylan finds herself tits deep in plastic fangs, velvet capes, and hooker corpses. Plastic or not, those fangs are razor sharp and out for blood, nosy journalist blood.
With her best friend in tow, and two contrasting boy-babes at her heels, the crew is pulled into an all too real sanguinarian lifestyle and dragged them through a bloody good mystery. Horrible pun intended.

The graciously irreverent heroine, Dylan Hart is at it again. With a couple of headless corpses under her belt, Dylan's crunchy exterior has reached maximum density. In The Big Easy, surrounded by ‘vampire’ elite, Dylan finds herself entangled in the underground world of blood and magic at the Endless Night Masque de Sang.
With an unexpected cohort, Dylan begins her descent into what she thinks will be a weekend filled with the macabre romance of the sanguinary community. Leaving behind her familiar city and any ally she may have, it quickly becomes obvious she's alone in a sea of dangers she never knew existed.
When a chance encounter brings a fascinating woman into her world, Dylan is forced to sift through fact and fiction to uncover a much more frightening villain. Voodoo. Who do?

synopsis

Neala Clarke is a woman of her word, when she gives you it, expect her to deliver. Neala gave her niece Charli her word that she would get her a doll for Christmas. Never mind that there is only one week until Christmas and everywhere that stocked toys is practically sold out. Neala gave her word that she would get that doll for Charli, so she will move mountains to make it happen.

Darcy Hart is a people pleaser, when he is asked last minute for a doll by his adorable six year old nephew Dustin, he of course, says yes. However, Darcy faces a dilemma, the particular doll he needs is sold out everywhere. Darcy makes one last attempt to get the doll at a local toy store, and finds out they have only one left in stock, but he also finds out he is not the only person interested in claiming the doll.

Neala and Darcy go way back, playing in each other’s play pens kind of way back. They are not friends, more like mortal enemies, and both of them wanting a single doll was the start of a series of events that no one could have predicted, not even Father Christmas himself.

Frozen Teaser #1

excerpt

It all happened in slow motion.

Darcy was shouting at me from inside of the tunnel one minute, and the next his upper body disappeared as the roof of the snow tunnel collapsed in on top of him. It literally collapsed on top of him and now he wasn't moving.

At all.

For at least twenty seconds I did nothing but stare at him then my senses kicked into overdrive.

"Darcy!" I screamed, and threw my blanket off my body as I rushed over to him.

I licked my lips and stared down at his body with wide eyes, and shaking limbs. My heart was slamming into my chest, and each pulse got louder and louder. I could hear each beat my heart took and my ears rang with the noise.

"Darcy!" I shouted hoping he would make a noise from under the snow or at least move his legs.

Nothing.

Not a sound or kick from him.

I really started to worry then, the thought of him drowning crossed my mind. I mean, snow was made of water and he was buried under the snow, which meant he was technically under water right now.

Fuck.

I had to save him.

I dropped my candle to the ground and ignored it as the glass bowl that encased the candle smashed causing it to blow out.

It was darker now, but the rest of the candles along the hallway were still lit so I could see pretty well.

"Darcy, don't worry!" I shouted. "I'm gonna get you out of there!"

I dropped to my knees and began to scoop handfuls of snow off his body. I threw the snow onto the pile Darcy created while digging the tunnel off to my right, but I had to stop because my hands hurt with the cold. I instead moved to Darcy legs and gripped onto them and pulled. I pulled with all of my might and the idiot's body only slightly moved.

"Move!" I shouted and pulled at his legs again.

I held onto Darcy with every fibre of strength I had and pulled again, and by the grace of God, his body moved.

It actually moved.

I was strong!

"Yes!" I cheered.

I scrambled up to Darcy's back when his shoulders became visible. I placed my hands on both of them and pulled as hard as physically possible, the wet floor under Darcy made him slide which made things so much easier for me and my arms.

"You're out!" I cheered.

Darcy was gasping for air so I rolled him over so he could suck in as much air as he needed. His eyes were closed, but his body was shaking. I instinctively placed my hands on his arms, directly on his biceps.

His firm biceps.

Stop it.

I began to rub up and down very fast hoping to generate some heat for Darcy to ease his shivering. All the rubbing was pointless though, unless I got him up off the cold wet floor he would just get sick.

"Darcy, stand up," I said.

He didn't move, nor did he reply to me.

That worried me.

I looked to Darcy's face and found his eyes were still closed. I looked down to his chest and saw it was moving up and down which relaxed me immensely.

"Darcy!" I said loudly, shaking him.

"Darcy!" Einstein called from the kitchen.

I screeched, "Shut up, Einstein!"

Stupid bloody bird.

I looked back down to Darcy when I thought I heard him chuckle, but I was mistaken because he was motionless with his eyes still closed. This wouldn't do, I had to wake him up because we'd be stuck in this house if he didn't fix the tunnel and continue to dig so we could get out of here.

Was that selfish?

"Darcy!" I shouted and shook him, hard.

He groaned and it caused my pulse to spike.

"Neala?" he croaked.

He was alive!

"Yes, Darcy, it's Neala. I'm here. It's okay, I saved you."

I was so proud of myself for saving him, too.

"Neala," he gasped my name again, and this time it was followed by a cough.

I frowned down at him.

Why was he coughing?

"Are you okay?" I asked, genuinely concerned for his well being.

Darcy coughed again. "I don't think so... everything is fading."

Oh, my God.

Fading?

As in fading to black?

"Don't you die and leave me here alone!" I snapped at him.

I may have still hated him close to ninety percent, but I didn't want him to die... I also didn't want to be left on my own with just Einstein for company.

"I'm... I'm dying... Neala."

Oh, no.

"You can't be, you weren't under the snow for that long- Darcy!" I screeched and shook him when he started to go limp.

"Neala," he gasped. "Come closer."

I couldn't believe what was happening.

This was not how things were supposed to end, we were supposed to get out of here... together.

"I'm here, Darcy," I said and swallowed back a sob that wanted to escape.

Darcy's breathing slowed. "I can see the light," he whispered.

I blinked back tears. "Go to the light, Darcy."

Darcy gasped for breath, then all of sudden everything stopped.

His movement.

His breathing.

His everything.

Oh, no.

"Darcy?" I whispered.

Nothing.

Oh, my God.

"Please don't be dead," I said then released the sob that was dying to be let out.

I stared down at Darcy's face, and I couldn't believe what just happened.

He died in my arms.

What was I going to do?

I never even told him I was sorry for giving him the runs, or for all the other times I was a bitch to him, and now I would never get the chance.

I felt like dirt.

I began to cry, but Darcy's body suddenly twitched then he inhaled sharply, and loudly.

I blinked then widened my eyes in shock.

"Darcy?" I whispered.

Darcy blinked opened his big brown eyes.

He was alive!

"Am I in Heaven?" he asked.

He thought he was dead!

Darcy blinked his eyes a couple of times then he flicked his eyes to mine and he stared at me for a long moment before he sighed.

"Nope, not Heaven. This must be Hell if you're here," he said, his face was as serious as if he just told me someone had a heart attack.

I stared down at him then narrowed my eyes.

Ex-fucking-cuse me?

"What?" I asked, completely confused.

Darcy looked at me then burst out laughing.

Laughing!

I gasped and dropped him to the floor.

He grunted in pain, but continued to laugh.

That... that fucking bastard!

He played me.

"You joked about dying?" I screeched.

Who does that?

review
I loved reading Frozen.   I read Frozen after a long stressful day and it was just what I needed to unwind.  It's light quick read.  I had me laughing out loud at some points.
Neala and Darcy have know each other forever.  They have a crazy relationship were they are out to get each other.  Neala and Darcy have this comically fight over the last doll at the store at Christmas time.  Neala gets the doll and Darcy steals it.   This set off a string of events.   Both Neala and Darcy's families want to see them together but that seem like an impossible task.   I loved all the characters.   They all are very likeable.
Some of things Neala and Darcy do to each other are crazy.  It seems like either has any limits when it comes to getting the other back.   It seems like mother nature has plans for them too when they get snowed it.   Being snowed forces Darcy and Neala to come to terms with each other.  Just when you think things are going good there are some crazy things that happen.
Frozen is a great read.  This is a definite one click.
